No problem. Everytime I do this it works the first time, but since I was making a tutorial, and I tested it out first, the full length of this video was about 15 to 20 minutes. Most of it was just me waiting for the timer. I guess I figured out something new that there is a timer set on it.

It thinks I'm starting from where I have the location set. Do other just toggle between where they want to have the location set and then change it to where they actually are? I'm assuming that if I don't use YTTV while using maps I should lose my location viewing preferences. Thanks for any insight!

Question..my home area is Mankato (56003) and current playback location Nicollet (56074). So I am now seeing warnings on limited channel options in near future. We live on a farm. Our farming neighbor 1/2 mile down the road from us has a Nicollet 56074 address. What would happen if I changed home area to Nicollet (56074)? Our internet supplier is StarLink. Any feedback would be awesome
Typically, you want your home area to be your ZIP code. In contrast, if you want news from another area, you could change your home location to that area and use this video to receive local channels from that area. A distance of a 1/2 mile would probably not get the results you are looking for. If you wanted expanded local channels, you may want to look at your closest large city and then use that zip code in conjunction with this video for more desirable results.
@@TheRifter The Mankato area code is far larger in population than Nicollet 56074. Nicollet 56074 is probably 50% rural farming and 1400 people in the City of Nicollet. The Mankato population w/o rural is over 70,000. When I try to update current playback it pulls in 56074. UA-camTV customer service is telling me it is my internet provider problem and not theirs. We utilize StarLink. Finally, a rural option with speed that is good.
@KellyBode don't call YTTV. If you use this video and set your home area in your settings to Mankato, then follow the directions, it will use the GPS location of your phone instead of your IP address at your house to determine your location.
If you aren't using your phone to update the location, then technically, yes. It is their fault. You may have to move the pin in the center of the other zip code to get it to pick up properly.
Get an Android. You can't do tricks like this with an iPhone because iOS won't let you. If you want full control over your phone, you might as well get an android
I added fake gps. Also, I was able to update my home area to New Orleans. However, the play area is still showing Atlanta. I tried to update the play back area on my tv several times and it won't work. Do I need to turn on my wi-fi /location while fake gps is on?

I'm exasperated because I've tried over and over to verify my location. I followed the steps on this youtube video, changed the location and it shows it's been changed on my cell phone but not on the UA-camTv app on my TV. I'm stuck. I see at the end of your video you talked about an IP address problem that is an easy fix/ Could you please address that easy fix or send me to a video that will?
You need to set the location to whatever area is your home location. Home location, being where the account is set being the home location. It tells you in the TV app where the home location is.

Does this still work? I have had my fake gps set up with location on. Google maps on my phone shows im in the home location (but sometimes it shows my true location). I have waited more than 10 min. Tried with the wifi on didn't work. Then tried with wifi off didn't work. It's the tv on your true location wifi? Each time it's giving the restriction.
UA-cam filtered out my last reply. I think I got it to work and just adding tips for what worked for me. This may help others out or help me remember in 3 months what I did. So I could not get it to update on the TV at all. I kept getting the "am I traveling” message or the restriction date message no matter what. So what I did below was only on my phone. Not with the tv. I was able to do everything up to running the fake gps following your video. I let the fake gps sit for at least 5 minutes with my maps open. The maps kept showing I was in my home area. I figured letting it sit in my home area for 5 min rather than rushing would let the system update better. I then opened a chrome browser. I went to the UA-cam tv verify link the app kept saying to go to if issues rather than updating my location in the app. (Search for it since I can't post address without the post being blocked). After I did that now my phone showed I was in the home location. Now finally on my phone I went into the UA-cam tv app. It showed local channels in my home area. I started playing a home channel for 15 minutes watching the news. After 15 minutes I then restarted my phone and tv. I went on my phone and I am no longer getting the message saying I need to update before June 17th. So I think it worked. Hopefully some of these steps may help someone else. I will try to post after the 17th if it worked. Ps - Make sure you are signed in on the right accounts. I don't have my UA-cam tv on my main account. So having 2 accounts may have been what caused my issues.
It shows my location as Washington DC. Never lived there. I live in Indiana. It won't let me correct it. Sent several request for a contact. I have never heard from anyone and still says Washington DC as home area
You need to just go in and update your home area with the location settings on your phone then. It should fix that, unless there is a big glitch with your account.
The only Apple product in my house is a 1st Gen iPod Touch. Bought it at the end of 2007. The only thing I've really used if for, other than the first year I purchased it, is an alarm clock. Great alarm clock. Charge it about once every couple of months, and it changes time for Daylight Davings Time automatically. Never late. Multiple alarms.

You only have to do this once every 3 months. Turn it off right after your location fixes. It's been a while since I made this. Good question.

You shouldn't need anything else. As long as you can connect to the internet with your phone and TV, that's really all that matters with this.

It still works for me. Try going into the TV app first then setup everything on your phone. You may have to try a few different ways.

If the VPN is in the same zip code that you are trying to mimic, sure. I tried using VPN's first and I am from a smaller area. It didn't work.

Not quite. You are just faking your geographic location for UA-cam TV's location check. It doesn't tunnel through any different servers.
