The seats and suspension on NX are more comfortable while still exhibiting minimal body lean. The NX balances everything well. Sportiness and comfort. The mazda feels more sporty and edges out the NX in this category but you pay for it in comfort. The mazda engine is quicker but feels more coarse and noisy. The handling is better but because the suspension is firmer. The Mazda does feel more airy and roomy inside and trunk space is better.
I have a 2017 lexus nx and it's no way a dressed up Rav 4. Rav 4 is a reliable econo rattle box. I would never buy a rav 4 but would instead get a mazda cx5 turbo.
I own a 2017 Lexus nx300h and I find the build is a big step up from the RAV4, I have driven both and the Lexus is much better overall . What I don't like about my 300H is the hybrid engine , I should of brought the NX200T.

Not a chance ! I own a 2018 NX and test drove a RAV4 prior of buying and they don’t compare... Like mentioned, plastic vs luxury interior !! Tons of technology too !

@Andrew Appel My testing of the RAV4 was 2 years ago with the previous generation... So it would be unfair to comment as this is a brand new redesign (inside and outside) model. As for CarPlay, the NX now comes (since 2019) with CarPlay on all models (and most 2018 in North America are upgradable thru a firmware) as does the new RAV4 gen if I'm not wrong. The NX has a sport mode and some version a Sport+ mode (like mine) which changes the throttle response and suspension among other things. Road testing would probably be more appropriate to get the feeling yourself as we can feel that response differently. All I can say I like my NX although it lacks a little cargo space but when I need some, I use the wife's Murano :-)

I like the RX; however, I could better afford the NX. I also own an IS but because it's a convertible it's not nearly as smooth of a ride. The bucket seats in the IS have me too low. I liked that for oh about 5 years but now I like riding high. Still keeping my IS 350c though.
@@issiewizzie Well I don't know it's an upgrade for me as I've been driving an IS 350c for the last 5 years. So, the technology is much more innovative than what's in my older IS350c. I don't know what the new IS 350 changes interior wise are if their are many.

Am I crazy to say that I’d take the Toyota RAV4 over this NX? Especially RAV4 hybrid or even that Prime. This Lexus is just....There. Absolutely nothing special. Plus I’d be saving enough money to start a business by buy the RAV4 over this. The ONLY Lexus I see myself buying (If) are the GS and the LX. These 2 cars to me went out of the ordinary. IS NEEDS an emergency redesign, ES NEEDS an AWD and that LS500 definitely needs a V8 that makes 500hp... hence the name. And Lexus needs to throw away their atrocious infortainment system.

Amazing, just bought exact same model but a 2021. Got dealer to sell it close to the price of the RAV4 Limited Hybrid I test drove yesterday.

You made a mistake by comparing this car to a Rav4. Its competitors is the Acura RDX, Audi Q5.
In that case it gets smoked in every way by those 2.

I think a loaded RAV4 Limited is probably better. Newer platform, arguably nicer interior, and it has a power trunk (which this doesn’t).

Definitely! And who still uses CDs??! I hate the center console with all them plastic buttons. I wouldnt pay more than $20k for this brand new.
I would take the lexus nx over the previous rav 4 version. Now with the rav4 update, rav4 is just better.
