Chamberlain was no appeasor, he was wisely buying time, the British military were far from being ready to fight a war against Lichtenstein, let alone Germany. As soon as he came back to England he signed the order to double the size of the BEF, which was a direct violation of the treaty he had just signed with Hitler, and of the1935 Maritime treaty between the two countriesa.
So, the honor to have started the Second world war was not Hitler's on Sept 1, that was a local scurmish, the war became internatiuonal only when France and Britain joined in with their colonies, commonwealths and mandates.
And please, Hitler did not invade Czechslovakia, when the Sudeten Germans finally joined the Reich, Slovakia and Hungary left as well and Poland took back Techen. Then, seeing that his small country would no longerbe be capable of defending hersel it is Hacha, the new Czech PM who asked Hitler fort some protection.
In May 1940, when Lord Halifax proposed in Chamber to at least study one of the 16 peace offers Hitler had sent to Churchill, including Hess himself, it is Chamberlain who finally made the balance tip in favor of continuing the war. The war went on for 5 more years, and 60 million people died.
Hitler started a small, local war to solve his problems with the Poles who consistantly refused to negotiate with him. had just been given a blank check by Churchill, Deladier but mostly by FDR and his ambassador in France, William C. Bullitt. Hitler may have looked like a psychopath, but he was not, utopian society builder would fit the facts much better.

Well, I tend to agree with you, Chamberlain's "Peace in our Time" managed to buy time for Britain to build many Spitfires and Tanks as well as a host of other things in preparation for the coming War.
