Finally, a Non-stop Debate music that I actually like. Don’t get me wrong, the previous one were also good, but for me they were hmm… too cheerful? Listening the old set of music prepared for prologue’s trial make me feel like „PUT YA DETECTIVE HAT ON BUDDY, WE ARE HERE TO SOLVE MISTERY,11! :D” and that’s it - no fear, no distrust, just a bunch of teenagers trying to solve a case of a dead person who was just a stranger to them or for almost ;) But when I think about it now - that also had it’s own goal. Since it was a introduction to debate mechanics, the players have the opportunity to finally step into Damon’s shoes in terms of leading a debate. Beacuse we experience the game from his perspective and see his thoughs and so on, it can also means that the music represents the emotions that he feels during debating: which is why in prologue it was so eneregetic and for me - so „positive”. But now, here’s chapter 1 and after only a few second this trial music bought me already. Why? Becasue you hear it - Panic. I would like to believe that the music somehow represents the experience that the class has already got after the Prologue’s trial mix with a generall panic of having their lives on stake this time for real, but also crushed with doubt, whether their new learned skills really will help them catch the culprit of this case.
It was so and in original Danganronpa series, wasn't it? I always thought that soundtracks are written to give over emotion, characters' and around atmosphere to players, didn't I?
Yeah i suppose the previous debate osts weren't as threatening but it does make sense. As you said it was about a dummy corpse of a person they didn't know and still didn't fully know know the situation they were in. Instead here it is a real murder so this ost screams "Someone really did kill a person. Shit is getting serious. Or we get this right or we die". I expect this to play during the late phases of a case or when the arguments gets serious.
