They definitely sound different becasue the knee is at different frequency. Similar components and circuit topology. I limke both for different things.
Thanks so much for this, just a few days ago I received a Yamaha MT4X from eBay - my first cassette 4 track. I have been watching your videos for a while now and the coincidence of you posting this video right now is perfect timing! Thanks again :)
whenever I am recording to track 2, whatever I do just isn't loud enough. do you think it's just because of a bad mic? or am I doing the setting wrong. it's like track 1 is peaking when I barley turn the gain up. but track 2 can never get in the white range
@@WeeWeeMan.17 if it’s loud enough on the meter while tracking but too quiet when you play back the recording, the record amplifier is in need of calibration or has an electrical problem. If you can’t get the signal loud enough on the meter while you’re laying down the track, it’s likely a dirty or faulty mixer channel
Thanks, very useful and well chaptered !
I had the 8x version and man that thing was amazing. I truly miss it.
Excellent and very informativ video man, great content. Thanks for sharing
Glad you managed to record a a very comprehensible videoguide on this unit. Good job!
I feel like the yamaha series have a better sounding eq than 424s. These things when they work they are amazing

Great tutorial. I have one. I’ve just been too stupid, and lazy to figure it out. Thanks.
I had one of these and wanted to use it for archiving my 4 track songs, i mostly use the mt8x now for music production
Thank you very much!
type II and *Maxell is the best sound I find
the power plug is better if you use figure 8 polarized instead of just 8. it connects better I believe it's 60320 C7P or C7 Polarized.
Excelente vídeo. Acabei de comprar um usado e estou aguardando chegar, espero que esteja funcionando corretamente. saudações do Brasil.
I used that recorder between 1996-1998 and had beautiful musical moments like these: ua-cam.com/video/i3N7PCn1Sio/v-deo.html
TBF, the quality of the sound's no worse than an old BBC radio play.
