One of the few times I've gotten misty-eyed over house-hunting success. This show is brilliant in emphasizing the human dimension of this business.

You can see that Phil is choked up when the middle-aged couple get their perfect house for a bargain price and the wife is so emotional. Definitely an empathetic softie, Phil.
These are couples I nominate to go back and visit and see how they are doing, especially how the young couple made the place their own.
This was a great episode. Gemma and Graham give us a life lesson about saving. They are probably between 45 and 55 and their determination to save has got them mortgage-free shelter for the rest of their lives. They can be justifiably proud. Charlene and Jay are obviously energetic and motivated house project people, judging by their beautiful first house. They have time on their side and are now well set for the next phase of their family life. Four really nice human beings.
I was inspired by the couple that saved. They don't dress like they're frugal, and yet they are. "You might blow it on the kitchen." "Not a chance. e-Bay has nice kitchens." LOL I enjoy these types of couples--kind and pleasant people, not rude, not impossibly picky.
The couples in this episode made this a relaxing and enjoyable watch

This was a lovely, heartwarming episode with 2 beautiful couples. THANK GOD. Some of these episodes have the worst, entitled pieces of 🐮 💩 I've ever seen. This one was refreshing. Best of luck to both families!

The Southend house is perfect! Very happy for that couple. I think the young family made the surprisingly bold choice and it's probably paying off megabucks now, 8 years later. Good on them, too!

I just loved this episode from 2016. Gemma and Graham are an example in living simply and enjoying life together plus great savers! So happy Phil found them this lovely home and Gemma's overwhelming joy and relief when learning the offer had been accepted had me in tears. Well desired!!! Both couples were a delight to watch! I wonder if Phil and Kristy have paid a return visit to them would love to see it if they had.

Scrimping and saving for 16 years to make a cash offer is admirable and paid off. I wonder if they can now ease up on their habits and indulge themselves a bit. For the other couple, they seem to have chosen a house with child/ren in mind but may outgrow it soon, with any new additions. In the end, both admit they could not have done it without the help of Phil and Kirstie.
As far as I can tell, they won't be indulging themselves any time soon...they looked to be shopping in a thrift store.

I can understand why that girl hesitates to move they have just renovated the house the way they want it, she probably feels someone else gets the joy from it after all her hard work and money, I would feel the same.
It always makes me giggle what the Brits consider a "good sized" room.
The UK is a small island and land is at a premium rate.

@@joannahampton5979 Yes, I noticed that. Even so, the rooms are small because the majority of houses are small. This is because building land is super expensive. Very few get the luxury of space in the UK.
watched a lot of these, why are the front gardens so often paved?
Parking space
Parking is very limited in the UK, and even when there is street parking, you never know where you will end up parking your car, so they pave their front yards to park off the street.
Cos they've torn out the front garden to accommodate one or more noisy chunks of steel which contribute to global warming.
Everything is about the baby...only seasoned responsible parents understand.
Why do the Brits have great huge over stuffed furniture in their living rooms?
They imitate the americans!
