When I say out of the hundreds of videos, I’ve watched over the years of porosity. You literally just broke it down in less than a minute. This makes so much sense.
What does she mean when she says if it's smooth its low n if it's rough it's high, like does she mean what it feels like when she's rubbing it down, then that's how I determine the porosity, or does she mean what it looks like when she's rubbing the hair down?? I'm soo confused
This is great for those not in the know but don't forget that most 4c haired people have more than 1 porosity because not every strand is the same. So really it should be a combination of products.
Im low porosity so I use warm water to open cuticles; then I moisturize the har seal and lock in moisturize with castor oil. My hair has grown past my shoulders. The young lady knows her stuff
All I do is box braids my hair , then wash it when I take it off after 2 months, my hair is very long. I use very cheap oil coconut. There’s no big formula.
I don't give af about porosity and know nothing about it cuz it's not important, finding the correct products that work for you is what's important, and asking somebody else what products to use isn't going to help you since everybody's hair is unique and nothing anybody else uses that works on them works on me
The eetain length: either Keep your hair as stretched as possible (twists outs, braid outs, banding method) or just wear protective styles for long periods during the year
the track adding to her hair doesn’t matter because the strand of hair she was stretching was hers, and it was long. Long, same length as the track. it doesn’t seem to be adding length just thickness. Just because your hair is long doesn’t mean it’s thick
Honestly your hair type (coarse, medium or fine) is a better indicator of what you should know to choose better products for your hair. Sorry sis I’m just tired of hearing this because the full picture isn’t been given. Most products if not all never mention porosity so🤷🏾♀️
Rule of thumb: low porosity more water-based mists. high porosity more thicker lotions and creams. I need to moisturise my hair twice a day because it's naturally high porosity due to genetics and altered due to bleach and dye. So even though I have fine hair, i can use more products than most people with low porosity. There are exceptions to the rule but it's a starting point and then doing trial and error. I kept a hair diary to figure it out the first 5 years I was natural. My hair likes shea butter, aloe vera and behentrimonium methosulfate. Glycerin, coconut oil and essential oils are hit or miss depending on the formulation and what ever the weather is doing out side. My hair eats protein for breakfast and can handle way more protein than low-porosity people. My hair can be happy without styling products like gels, mousse and edge control....they are surplus and only need once a week. You have to know the 4 or 5 characteristics for most of your hair. So I have ultra-fine, high porosity, high density, 4c pen spring coils. I also have a sensitive scalp so I can't use raw oils and butter and grease so I no longer seal with these products.
@@marleyhill34Thank you for taking the time to type this! I notice that you said, high porosity hair needs heavier creams, but what if you have fine, low density hair that is high porosity? Sorry if this question comes off as confusing.

Hi, which specific brands do you use for the products? Does the Chebe have a strong smell? How do you style your hair afterwards? I'm trying 2 strand twists and flat twists. Thank you for your help.
You can also test your porosity, take a clean strand and place into a glass of water, if it floats, it's low, in the middle, it's average, if it sinks, you've high porosity.
Thank you so very very very much because most people think they are low porosity because their hair doesn't absorb water quickly.... PLEASE WASH THE OILS OFF FIRST, as this young lady also advised 😊,then determine your porosity 😊😊😊 Now, I can breathe 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I went back to grease + gel, coconut oil + gel, or raw shea butter on soaked hair and finally Im getting some length retention. I use olive oil with all my conditioners and rinse my hair well before I add the products. Leave in conditioner is used sometimes but rarely. I feel my ends need to be extra greasy to retain length. I try to add olive oil or mayo prepoo before I shampoo every other week. Sometimes I even mix shea butter and grease and sometimes I even use vaseline. If anything feels too greasy, I put consitioner on top and let it dry.

I have high porosity hair and always found it difficult to retain moisture. Hair breakage along with frizz was an issue and it made my hair impossible to manage. A good natural hairstylist will tell you porosity doesn't matter. Keep it simple, get your grease, oil and water. Alternate, clarifying, and your normal shampoo.
Y’all if u have a big family that eats rice just ask to keep the rice water and use that in your hair let the rice sit for like a day then add it to you hair every wash day this will encourage your hair to grow 😊 coming from a family of 7 ( including me ) we use a lot of rice and A lot of rice water gets waisted Edit: Honestly You don’t even need to have a big family but if you eat rice then try this
Ladies. If you have type 4 hair, its 'high porosity'. You need products that are thicker and oil.... better if you use grease 😮 YES, grease. Twist it up for a few weeks. Wash with a sulfate shampoo, use a thick cream and top off with oil... or grease. Leave twists in for 3-4 weeks. Pro tip... add a little cream and add oil/grease to end when they feel dry. My hair is mid back and growing. Youre welcome ❤ Edit: Protein treatments every month or every other months are necessary along with deep conditioning after twists come out. Again, KEEP YOUR HAIR IN MINI TWISTS OR BRAIDS NO EXTENSIONS. Your hair will grow!
Ok yeah I know my porosity but what do I do with it, that’s like me saying “I know the trick to getting abs in one day… you just need to know that you a stomach and that’s all” like dude just tell me how💀

@@pengu606 ,nope,I know her and have been following her,the front is her natural hair but the back is extensions!,you can ask her.She does however have long natural hair.
It has nothing to do with the length of her hair, it has to do with the facts of what she is explaining as porosity. All you need to do is focus on your hair.. It's a fact that black women who moisturize and condition their hair appropriately have long hair.. But I suppose you don't have anything better to do than to be rude towards someone sharing some information.
Those who do not want to know about porosity should maybe find the hair video you're looking for😉. It's obvious this lady has long hair and wear tracks. Im sure she was very aware her track was showing... she is a content creator

I honestly think you need to just make sure you’re using moisturizing products , having a consistent wash routine (whether it’s weekly , biweekly , whatever you think works best) , trimming as needed , & not manipulating your hair in between washes . the game changer for me was really washing every week . Ik that doesn’t work for everyone but don’t knock it til you try it cuz you never know that might be what you need . I also just started using botanical products which I think helps w/the overall health of your hair & essentially the growth .
what’s your hair type im a 3b 4a with high porosity really thick almost armpit length hair. it’s been like that my whole life basically and i really want it to grow out longer. i have definitely washed after one week before but not often due to the “don’t over manipulate your hair or don’t wash every week” comment.
Unfortunately me doing exactly what you said doesn’t help. Me determining if it’s smooth or rough is completely relative and not objective. I can reason and say my hair is smooth but it’s actually rough and vise verse because there is nothing to compare it to
Know ur porosity and study what products h need and styles u should be doing. Also pay attention when it actually grows so u can figure out why u retained the length. Ur ends have to be babied.
I've been natural since 2009....every 4c hair person with back-length hair wears a protective style. I went to a hair and scalp clinic run by black trichologists....they confirmed that best practice is.....protective styling. Now you have to know which protective hair style works for you and doesn't damage your hair. Twists and flat twists and silk and satin scarfs work for me. Wigs and half/ wigs/weaves with tracks work about 2 day out of 7. I can't wear them every day and I can't sew or glue them in. Crochet braids/twists work if they don't itch and I only keep them for 4 weeks. box braids and marley twists work als long as I dont' keep them in longer than 12 weeks and I shampoo weekly and re-do any loose boxes and the hair line as needed.
@@L0ve.intl3 My hair grew an inch this past month (well, slightly over an inch in less than a month). My best advice is do cardio (you can do cardio dance workouts if you don't like running). Also try doing the inversion method for a week right after you are done doing the cardio workout (do cardio daily for the same week you try the inversion method). Do this only if you are physically able to (you don't have to add oil...this method can still work w/o applying oil to the hair or scalp).

Youre welcome ❤
Edit: Protein treatments every month or every other months are necessary along with deep conditioning after twists come out. Again, KEEP YOUR HAIR IN MINI TWISTS OR BRAIDS NO EXTENSIONS. Your hair will grow!
Incorrect. Porosity isn’t based on hair type at all.
Where can I find this book!!!
Ok yeah I know my porosity but what do I do with it, that’s like me saying “I know the trick to getting abs in one day… you just need to know that you a stomach and that’s all” like dude just tell me how💀
You could see the tracks when she bends down
So glad you made this video. It’s gonna help me tremendously. Thanks.
What are some shampoos for low
porosity hair
OMG what book is this and where can I find it? This is so interesting to me esp cuz I’m considering going into cosmetology 😮❤
The Juneberry Hair Produkt is SOOOO Good . I tried it and my Hair has been moisturised ever since ive tried that Produkt. You can try that one for your hair
Exactly...tracks are at the back of her hair.
Yep I noticed that lol
And?? Her real hair was healthy and long..
Thank you so much for this information
Yes! 😳The information I need 😮💨 finally.... THANKS YOU 🎉
What I want to figure out is where is that wig frooooom because it’s gorgeous omg
That is the tip of hair I have 😊😊❤
Who Is the creator of this video?
Right. I hate when these people repost and don’t give credit
Update: NIKKI FARAH.
Her hair is long❤️😍 but if u look closely you also see that she has extensions in?!💀
Which extensions are you wearing?,looks amazing!
That’s natural hair lmao
@@pengu606 ,nope,I know her and have been following her,the front is her natural hair but the back is extensions!,you can ask her.She does however have long natural hair.
@@pengu606 also look at the top of her head you see the tracks!
@@pengu606You don't see those tracks in the back of her head? She probably wears tracks to get more volume because her hair is already long.
What is her name
What’s the title of the book?
Are those highlights in your hair or your natural color??? Whichever, it is very pretty!🤎
I mean that’s cool and all but you have like 70% tracks in yo head how we supposed to know if that’s ur actual lenght 💀
Because she pulled up the part that is real 🤦🏾♀️
Cause she pulled it from the leave out..lol
It has nothing to do with the length of her hair, it has to do with the facts of what she is explaining as porosity. All you need to do is focus on your hair.. It's a fact that black women who moisturize and condition their hair appropriately have long hair.. But I suppose you don't have anything better to do than to be rude towards someone sharing some information.
@@Lashamalayaor did she? 😂
@PlusVK22 well yea. It's quite obvious. Like you can see it right there in the part 😌
Use tha grease ladies❤❤❤
lol this video made me laugh and smile at the same time ❤
i need that hair book
You can literally see the hair color difference……yall really be scamming ppl
You can also see the tracks at the very beginning, but maybe she just wanted fullness. idk
Those who do not want to know about porosity should maybe find the hair video you're looking for😉. It's obvious this lady has long hair and wear tracks. Im sure she was very aware her track was showing... she is a content creator
The science is so useful for the black curly hair style...
That book looks interesting where can I get it's from, and what the book called anyone know please?
I have that same book.
Was wondering about this very thing then got sidetracked and forgot to look it up. One of the few times I really appreciate fyp.👍🏼🤷🏼
What hair color did you use on your hair? It looks like a brown . I’d like to try it please
Honey. Get off here with those tracks 😅😂 you must think we’re d u m b or something. That was wild
No plucking hair out of my scalp?
Thanks, and I just learned my hair is low pourisity. 😁
Woman also understand especially with natural hair i have natural hair too and it grows fast i have fast growing hair too have to remember that as well
I did a big chop in September 2023, and I got my husband to measure my hair and I've only grown three inches as of today. But I got three more months to round up to a year, so hopefully those extra 3 inches will come in lol
Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Washing my hair got my hair to almost middle of back. Mind you last year it was to my ears.
Where did you get the sew in from? 😍
Her track is showing!!
What book is that???
Thanks for that
I love the content... new sub here❤
Not true, one you can have multiple porosities and two all porosities need moisture (from water) & low manipulation.
Unfortunately me doing exactly what you said doesn’t help. Me determining if it’s smooth or rough is completely relative and not objective. I can reason and say my hair is smooth but it’s actually rough and vise verse because there is nothing to compare it to
What hair did she use !? I need to buy 🙏🏿😊
Can density be changed?
Do this test on Clean damp, wet or dry hair ? Or does it matter ?
Know ur porosity and study what products h need and styles u should be doing. Also pay attention when it actually grows so u can figure out why u retained the length. Ur ends have to be babied.
I'm going to try this porosity thing out
Girl i love your hair! Details please.
Girl how u grow tracks😂I saw yo tracks in the back
I've been natural since 2009....every 4c hair person with back-length hair wears a protective style.
@@marleyhill34 well good for you. She still got tracks and she said it's real. I see u miss the point
@@vanitykane5743 she never used the word "real" in the video.
@vanitykane5743 she didn't say it was all her hair, but you can clearly see the hair she showed was from her leave out.
It grow 6 to 12. Some people hair grows 1/2 inch some grows 1 inch. You need to keep retention of hair.
Me who grew 4 inches of hair in 6 months:
Tip please😭🙏
@@L0ve.intl3 My hair grew an inch this past month (well, slightly over an inch in less than a month). My best advice is do cardio (you can do cardio dance workouts if you don't like running). Also try doing the inversion method for a week right after you are done doing the cardio workout (do cardio daily for the same week you try the inversion method). Do this only if you are physically able to (you don't have to add oil...this method can still work w/o applying oil to the hair or scalp).
@@L0ve.intl3 genetics and protective styling. My hair breaks easily due to genetics. It grows but retaining the length is difficult.
@@ev6564 Sounds like bullshit tips
Pulled out that Milady😫🤣
Mama thanks 4 the info but why tracks! With the explanation 😂
Because it looks beautiful, adds volume and color and she shows that her natural hair underneath is still long and healthy because she cares for it...
