When I say out of the hundreds of videos, I’ve watched over the years of porosity. You literally just broke it down in less than a minute. This makes so much sense.
What does she mean when she says if it's smooth its low n if it's rough it's high, like does she mean what it feels like when she's rubbing it down, then that's how I determine the porosity, or does she mean what it looks like when she's rubbing the hair down?? I'm soo confused
Honestly your hair type (coarse, medium or fine) is a better indicator of what you should know to choose better products for your hair. Sorry sis I’m just tired of hearing this because the full picture isn’t been given. Most products if not all never mention porosity so🤷🏾♀️
Rule of thumb: low porosity more water-based mists. high porosity more thicker lotions and creams. I need to moisturise my hair twice a day because it's naturally high porosity due to genetics and altered due to bleach and dye. So even though I have fine hair, i can use more products than most people with low porosity. There are exceptions to the rule but it's a starting point and then doing trial and error. I kept a hair diary to figure it out the first 5 years I was natural. My hair likes shea butter, aloe vera and behentrimonium methosulfate. Glycerin, coconut oil and essential oils are hit or miss depending on the formulation and what ever the weather is doing out side. My hair eats protein for breakfast and can handle way more protein than low-porosity people. My hair can be happy without styling products like gels, mousse and edge control....they are surplus and only need once a week. You have to know the 4 or 5 characteristics for most of your hair. So I have ultra-fine, high porosity, high density, 4c pen spring coils. I also have a sensitive scalp so I can't use raw oils and butter and grease so I no longer seal with these products.
This is great for those not in the know but don't forget that most 4c haired people have more than 1 porosity because not every strand is the same. So really it should be a combination of products.
The eetain length: either Keep your hair as stretched as possible (twists outs, braid outs, banding method) or just wear protective styles for long periods during the year
All I do is box braids my hair , then wash it when I take it off after 2 months, my hair is very long. I use very cheap oil coconut. There’s no big formula.
I don't give af about porosity and know nothing about it cuz it's not important, finding the correct products that work for you is what's important, and asking somebody else what products to use isn't going to help you since everybody's hair is unique and nothing anybody else uses that works on them works on me
If you are of black descent, your hair porosity is more than likely to be high porosity. High porosity is very common in black people because our hair is very fragile when stretched or blown dry. high porosity hair usually goes hand-in-hand with curly wavy in Afro hair. When under a microscope a black person cuticles vs high porosity they look the same thus how scientist lab are able to identify the race based on the hair cuticles left at the crime scene.
the track adding to her hair doesn’t matter because the strand of hair she was stretching was hers, and it was long. Long, same length as the track. it doesn’t seem to be adding length just thickness. Just because your hair is long doesn’t mean it’s thick
Im low porosity so I use warm water to open cuticles; then I moisturize the har seal and lock in moisturize with castor oil. My hair has grown past my shoulders. The young lady knows her stuff
Hi, which specific brands do you use for the products? Does the Chebe have a strong smell? How do you style your hair afterwards? I'm trying 2 strand twists and flat twists. Thank you for your help.
You can also test your porosity, take a clean strand and place into a glass of water, if it floats, it's low, in the middle, it's average, if it sinks, you've high porosity.
I honestly think you need to just make sure you’re using moisturizing products , having a consistent wash routine (whether it’s weekly , biweekly , whatever you think works best) , trimming as needed , & not manipulating your hair in between washes . the game changer for me was really washing every week . Ik that doesn’t work for everyone but don’t knock it til you try it cuz you never know that might be what you need . I also just started using botanical products which I think helps w/the overall health of your hair & essentially the growth .
what’s your hair type im a 3b 4a with high porosity really thick almost armpit length hair. it’s been like that my whole life basically and i really want it to grow out longer. i have definitely washed after one week before but not often due to the “don’t over manipulate your hair or don’t wash every week” comment.

I have high porosity hair and always found it difficult to retain moisture. Hair breakage along with frizz was an issue and it made my hair impossible to manage. I knew my hair porosity, but i needed to know what would work best for it and learned humectants are the way to go. Seen that honey humectant would work and remembered i had some Camille Rose honey leave in conditioner that i bought 3yrs earlier in my hair junk box lol i didn't like the texture so i avoided it then... Huge mistake. Once i put some gloves on, sprayed my hair with fresh water and mixed the Camille Rose honey with cantu leave in conditioner IT WAS LIKE MAGIC. My hair retains so much moisture and length now. I don't use nothing else in my hair and can go an entire month without having to reapply products. That Camille Rose honey saved my hair like that, the Cantu and water are like the holy trinity for me. My curls/ coils stay popping and are juicy
Thank you so very very very much because most people think they are low porosity because their hair doesn't absorb water quickly.... PLEASE WASH THE OILS OFF FIRST, as this young lady also advised 😊,then determine your porosity 😊😊😊 Now, I can breathe 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I went back to grease + gel, coconut oil + gel, or raw shea butter on soaked hair and finally Im getting some length retention. I use olive oil with all my conditioners and rinse my hair well before I add the products. Leave in conditioner is used sometimes but rarely. I feel my ends need to be extra greasy to retain length. I try to add olive oil or mayo prepoo before I shampoo every other week. Sometimes I even mix shea butter and grease and sometimes I even use vaseline. If anything feels too greasy, I put consitioner on top and let it dry.
It's called protective styling with a leave out. It's not that deep when there is content on her channel showing her hair, and this video is about porosity.
Genetics and Epi-genetics. How your hair responds to its environment and how much stress are you exposed too. stress can come from diet and over use of hair products

Yes know ur porosity and choose the right products for your hair and have a good hair routine. Minimise too much product use . U just need holy grail shampoo +(clarify shampoo)conditioner + leave in + thermal protection if using heat, oil or serum
Unfortunately me doing exactly what you said doesn’t help. Me determining if it’s smooth or rough is completely relative and not objective. I can reason and say my hair is smooth but it’s actually rough and vise verse because there is nothing to compare it to

The Juneberry Hair Produkt is SOOOO Good . I tried it and my Hair has been moisturised ever since ive tried that Produkt. You can try that one for your hair
I see alot of stress about what products to use based on porosity. Let me help. Low porosity hair is prone to build up because the cuticle is tight, this type should use heat to raise the cuticle when shampooing and conditioning. Use clarifying shampoo often, avoid products that leave a heavy film on the hair. Rinse with WARM WATER to avoid closing the cuticle before the leave in moisturizer step. Use lightweight water based moisturizers then follow with a lightweight oil or balm to seal. High porosity hair has a cuticle that is raised Typically people who have chemically treated hair or damaged hair but not always. Because the cuticle is raised this type is prone to dryness. So use products that focus more on tightening the cuticle ingredients will have lots of polyquaterniums on the ingredients list and lots of cationic materials. Seal this type with creamy leave in products that are more butter based. Also rinse in cool water before leave in moisturizing steps to help seal the cuticle ❤

heat. You need heat. My trichologists make everyone regardless of porosity wrap a hot towel with leave in conditioner and leave in detangler every day for 20 minutes and makes them shampoo, deep condtion with heat every week. Also a mist is better than a cream for low porisity. I have high porosity but I have a lot of hair so I need a lot of product to keep it moisturised and lubricated and tangle free.

Those who do not want to know about porosity should maybe find the hair video you're looking for😉. It's obvious this lady has long hair and wear tracks. Im sure she was very aware her track was showing... she is a content creator
Back in the day, there was no damn such thing as porosity, and my momma used water, blue magic, a bristle brush, and a hot comb, and my hair grew waist length and thick. This "natural hair community" is a joke.
I've been natural since 2009....every 4c hair person with back-length hair wears a protective style. I went to a hair and scalp clinic run by black trichologists....they confirmed that best practice is.....protective styling. Now you have to know which protective hair style works for you and doesn't damage your hair. Twists and flat twists and silk and satin scarfs work for me. Wigs and half/ wigs/weaves with tracks work about 2 day out of 7. I can't wear them every day and I can't sew or glue them in. Crochet braids/twists work if they don't itch and I only keep them for 4 weeks. box braids and marley twists work als long as I dont' keep them in longer than 12 weeks and I shampoo weekly and re-do any loose boxes and the hair line as needed.

Guys u literally have to experiment to know what exactly works for you
Thank you so very very very much because most people think they are low porosity because their hair doesn't absorb water quickly.... PLEASE WASH THE OILS OFF FIRST, as this young lady also advised 😊,then determine your porosity 😊😊😊
Now, I can breathe 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I went back to grease + gel, coconut oil + gel, or raw shea butter on soaked hair and finally Im getting some length retention. I use olive oil with all my conditioners and rinse my hair well before I add the products. Leave in conditioner is used sometimes but rarely. I feel my ends need to be extra greasy to retain length. I try to add olive oil or mayo prepoo before I shampoo every other week. Sometimes I even mix shea butter and grease and sometimes I even use vaseline. If anything feels too greasy, I put consitioner on top and let it dry.
What I want to figure out is where is that wig frooooom because it’s gorgeous omg
The science is so useful for the black curly hair style...
She has tracks in her hair.
False advertisement
She has it in the back of her hair, the front is her leave out. Y’all mfs be dumb as hell like y’all don’t know what hair looks like.
Yes, her roots don’t match the rest of her hair.
It's called protective styling with a leave out. It's not that deep when there is content on her channel showing her hair, and this video is about porosity.
Genetics that's the answer I'm sorry
Genetics is only part of the story. If the hair is not looked after correctly, you will still experience dryness, breakage and heat damage
genetics is a small part of it . if you’re not taking care of your hair , you’re not going to retain length period .
Genetics and Epi-genetics. How your hair responds to its environment and how much stress are you exposed too. stress can come from diet and over use of hair products
Genetics only play a part in how fast your hair grows not how long
it's really not ..
Thank you so much for this information
This girl is looking gorgeous, the hair😍 and this color 10/10 (both hair and clothes 💚)
So annoyed that people are pointing out the tracks... clearly she's not trying to hide it... Her natural hair underneath is long and healthy as she shows by the strand she pulls out...tracks help for volume, density add a touch of colour...I mean com'on people be for real...
She has some extension 😂
I love love love that blouse 😍
Right! It’s so cute. I need it 😍
Yes know ur porosity and choose the right products for your hair and have a good hair routine.
I can reason and say my hair is smooth but it’s actually rough and vise verse because there is nothing to compare it to
Was wondering about this very thing then got sidetracked and forgot to look it up. One of the few times I really appreciate fyp.👍🏼🤷🏼
Yes! 😳The information I need 😮💨 finally.... THANKS YOU 🎉
Her hair is long❤️😍 but if u look closely you also see that she has extensions in?!💀
Thank you for sharing this video ❤❤❤
Listening to this makes me feel like a biology major
GREATBJOB, BUT I NOTICED THERE WAS NO MENTION OF NUTRITION...EAT YOUR VEGGIES IN THEIR MOST NATURAL STATE, IF POSSIBLE... THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS TO TRUE BEAUTY.
What are some shampoos for low
porosity hair
Love your hair!!..what kind of wig is that?
Right?? 😂
Your hair is beautiful 😍
Don’t be shy… what’s that textbook’s name?🙂👀

The Juneberry Hair Produkt is SOOOO Good . I tried it and my Hair has been moisturised ever since ive tried that Produkt. You can try that one for your hair
i need that hair book
I saw tracks 😂
Why is your shirt open? 😢 You too pretty for that. Love you ❤
lol this video made me laugh and smile at the same time ❤
Girl i love your hair! Details please.
Lol just here for the comments
It grow 6 to 12. Some people hair grows 1/2 inch some grows 1 inch. You need to keep retention of hair.
I'm going to try this porosity thing out
Which extensions are you wearing?,looks amazing!
That’s natural hair lmao
@@pengu606 ,nope,I know her and have been following her,the front is her natural hair but the back is extensions!,you can ask her.She does however have long natural hair.
@@pengu606 also look at the top of her head you see the tracks!
@@pengu606You don't see those tracks in the back of her head? She probably wears tracks to get more volume because her hair is already long.
What is her name
Based on all these tests i have low porosity hair but if i buy products for that kind of hair my hair is just dry. I just had to learn to listen to my hair and not label it
Woman also understand especially with natural hair i have natural hair too and it grows fast i have fast growing hair too have to remember that as well
A product called Noor hair fix is using your image, along with other haircare UA-camrs, in their commercials! Their saying you used their product to grow yoir hair long!
I never thought to read a book about hair and it’s complicities
Yes she has tracks in the back but the hair she was stretching was definitely hers.
Those who do not want to know about porosity should maybe find the hair video you're looking for😉. It's obvious this lady has long hair and wear tracks. Im sure she was very aware her track was showing... she is a content creator
Are those highlights in your hair or your natural color??? Whichever, it is very pretty!🤎
My hair does not grow 6 inches a month my hair grows slow lol maybe 3 inches a year
I love the content... new sub here❤
You can literally see the hair color difference……yall really be scamming ppl
You can also see the tracks at the very beginning, but maybe she just wanted fullness. idk
Also curlfriends let's not bring each other down. Comments kinda getting out of hand
Back in the day, there was no damn such thing as porosity, and my momma used water, blue magic, a bristle brush, and a hot comb, and my hair grew waist length and thick. This "natural hair community" is a joke.
Fr
Exactly 💯💯💯. Everyone and y'all's family always stay blessed and healthy ✝️🙏🛐🕊️
What hair color did you use on your hair? It looks like a brown . I’d like to try it please
Girl how u grow tracks😂I saw yo tracks in the back
I've been natural since 2009....every 4c hair person with back-length hair wears a protective style.
@@marleyhill34 well good for you. She still got tracks and she said it's real. I see u miss the point
@@vanitykane5743 she never used the word "real" in the video.
@vanitykane5743 she didn't say it was all her hair, but you can clearly see the hair she showed was from her leave out.
DAMN that tiny lil strand on my head is ROUGH AF 😭
I've been natural since 2018 and still dont know my porosity. Every time I tried to test it, my hair did something different
What if it’s smooth but a bit rough too
I believe it's average/medium porosity then
She has tracks (hair extensions) but as you can see, her real hair is just as long as the weave lol
I wanna grow my hair down to my mid back or waist…waiste is desired but I’ll take whatever I can get
Do this test on Clean damp, wet or dry hair ? Or does it matter ?
My hair gets sooo dry and brittle fast I need help
But the thing is, wouldn’t your porosity change based on different factors?
Thanks for that
So what products do you need for each porosity?
