Same with dining. I know co-workers who eat fast food or take-out eveeerrry day. If bringing your own lunch costs $5, dining out wastes about $5-6. Multiply that by 20 days a month and that's $100-120 a month. Multiply that by three years and that's a whopping $3,960! Yikes. That $3,900 could have helped pay off a mortgage on a house or several months of car payments!

@Reality Lives Onward Always True. I had too many friends who went to school for 4-6 years who wound up making +/- $800 per week and trying to pay off $50k+ in student debt. I rolled up my sleeves and got in the trenches. Life was never easy, but I can at least say I own what I have. If I blow my transmission, I can pay for it without crippling myself with high interest debt. If it happened to one of them, it's ramen for the year. The lie Big Education sold is one of the greatest disservices ever sold to our citizens. Truth is not everyone has it in them. It's damn expensive to guess wrong.

    • @xpierogix
      @xpierogix 3 роки тому +6

I think it really depends. You can find free or cheaper college or school not necessary in your country. In my humble opinion people should go to school and college because it is the only way to meet friends, lovers, new people, make connections and just have fun when being still young. When you start working in full time job or your own small business you do not have time for literally anything. Only rich people can have a lot of free time because they have army of people working for them and doing stuff for them. A rich men or women can play golf or go to spa because their CEO is gaining new partners, theur lawyers and office workers are taking care of paperwork and so on. Such person can literally sit 1 to 3 days in week to check condensed reports from their company, sign necessary paper work and that's all of to have fun on yacht again.

Cuttings costs is not about being/buying cheap in everything you do. In not buying food that will spoil, poor quality merchandise that will cost you more in the end, etc. you then can purchase the things that mean more - like travel, a better home, quality clothes, etc. It's about having a wealth vs. poverty mindset - choosing what to spend the big bucks for, and having it to spend.

We spend less than $1 a day on food, nothing on toilet paper, and less than nothing on housing. Make your housing pay for itself and you can rest easy living a debt-free life.
We started very small, but never went into debt. From the camper van we lived in on a plot of land in the 60s, to the home we built ourselves, to the food we grew, and the cabins we built to rent out, everything was planned for and paid with cash. That was more entertaining and compelling than sitting in front of the idiot box hooked up to antenna or cable, and vastly more profitable than working a full-time job.
Don't give a penny to nameless, faceless corporations for the dubious privilege of eating their crap food or paying their exorbitant interest rates to buy things you don't need. Invest in yourself!
There is nothing wrong with buying fresh food in bulk if you can't grow it yourself and it's a good price. Just process this food so you can use it easily for recipes in the future. Our freezer has sliced, chopped, and sometimes blanched vegetables ready to turn into soups, stews, and stir-fries. We've been eating roasted brussel sprouts, carrots, and squash from an abundance of garden vegetables. I have a chickpea & vegetable soup planned today that will use up some more carrots, celery, onion, kale, mustard greens, cabbage, and zucchini saved from the garden. That is a favorite around here and takes just a few minutes to throw together since everything is already chopped and ready from the freezer.

At secondary school, we were taught about 'hire purchase.' I'm not good at working out percentages, and failed O Level maths. The most important thing I learned though - was it's cheaper ro save up, than buy using credit. I used catalogues like LIttlewoods when younger - where you could pay a set amount every week or monthn the total coming to the same if paid in full when the goods arrived. For more expensive items, I'd save half of the cash before ordering.

A student loan I took from the government is a drain on my finances. Within a few months of graduation they added $900 to it. Within 3 months it was at a debt collection agency...which then added $7000 plus to the initial debt while threatening to sue me and acquisition my assets to cover the inflated loan.
All this while I was seeking jobs AND working in government sub-contracts which paid years later and only in small amounts.
In short, student loans are not to be trifled with. It's always wise to do market research to ensure you can be employed quickly after graduation. Also, a savvy person can go to college later or avoid expensive time consuming degrees altogether. As it is I got supernatural aid to get the $800 a month payment reduced to $200 BUT I do get to thinking "let them sue me, what can they take? They can't arrest me for student loans or force me to appear in court, if they try to seize anything from my parents home I'll encourage them to counter sue because it's an unsecured loan which my parents never cosigned"....then I pay my $200 when I can when the collector calls....I'm so much wiser now and can see as a person who grew up in a home where there was always abuse regarding finances this was inevitable.
    😄🙏Thank you Papa Eshu.

So, with this video in mind, I made a promise to myself that I am DONE. No more shopping online. And I’m going to donate a bunch of my older clothes. I don’t need them anymore. Here's some more Things You Should NOT Spend Money On
10 Various household decor ( this includes stuff like inspirational quote wood signs, tiny mirrors in hallways and living rooms, small desk statues it's all a waste of money so what good does it do you?)
9 A hundred shirts you don't even wear. (Face it, you wash your laundry at least once a weak and so your probably gonna use not even 9 outfits. So you're better off just owning at least 12 shirts.)
8 More than 3 pairs of shoes. (You basically just need work shoes, casual shoes and a pair that's for relaxing. There should be no reason to fill your closet with a load of shoes you don't even remember having)
7 Pots and pans you don't even use
6 Carpets (They just give an extra thing to worry about. So if the floor gets cold just put on some socks)
5 Pets (They just give you more to worry about and it just means more money gone and lets face it, it's not the 90's anymore)
4 The latest phone models (Unless your current one is broken there's no point of spending all that cash)
3 Big @$$ Thanksgiving food your not even gonna eat.
2 Don't drink and smoke! (We all know it does us no good so why is it worth even a penny?)
1 Don't live in big expensive @$$ houses, (Gated neighborhoods are always the more expensive ones.)

The Great Wall is a bad example. China's most frequent enemies throughout most of her history were northern nomads, and would have been almost constantly raided/harassed if the wall were not there to keep them out. Only a few notable exceptions to the rule were Chinggis Khan going the long way around the wall or the Manchus having the gates open to them by a defector. Other than that, it did its job regardless of how many lives it cost to build.
If you wanna talk about "vanity projects" being wasteful in terms of human lives, you may as well include Peter the Great building Saint Petersburg(aka. the city built on bones) on here, since he "wasted" the lives of approximately 25,000 Russian peasants just cause Moscow wasn't "modern enough" for him.

About the fresh food in bulk part, i would like to address a thought of mine for a long time.
Since i am eating particular foods for a health reason, for example buying carrots with greens still onto them, sand, soil etc as they are definitely fresher compared to the ones that are calucated by weight on the scale is usually a double-edged sword for me, cuz i may eat 1-2 carrorts for 3-4-5 days, but they are selling them in batches, so yes i end up throwing the moldy ones. BUT WHY should i feel guilty for someone packing and trying to decide my quantity? I don;t care anymore for this food waste, ive tried to give em to neightbours, donate food in particular places, they do not even accept them. Sometimes i invite random strangers just so we can eat lunch together just so i do not throw away food. F this. People do not care. And places that actually may receive them are kilometers away from me. Became anorexic due to stress of worryuing for the whole world. F that. Sorry, but i won't waste half my day every 2 days to go and donate a bag of few partly fresh- partly moldy veggies. F that once again. We should not feel guilty for the food industry deciding the quantity. Regardless of this, buy only as much as you are planning to consume and if there is no option and things are sold in big badges before throwing it away when molded, try n find options to donate it. I tried, i did. but my time is more precious. When i can i do, when i cannot i do not.
