I've always believed that near the end of his life he was a genius trapped in the mind of a madman. He had the mental capacity to do anything he wanted, but he went crazy and died in obscurity.

Tyler's getting a lot better! He's still not as good as Cody, but Cody has years of practice. The video itself looks great, too. Bringing in Tyler as a narrator has proven a great decision. Looking forward to future essays!

i am not quite sure about that. He speaks faster and his pronunciation is a little bit moist and harder to understand for someone with english as a second language.
He gets bonus points for effort, tho.
If he would start speaking more clearly, this would help.

Especially when he was known to have obsessive compulsive disorder.

Tesla may or may not have been as smart as history claimed

*sigh* I used to find tesla interesting, and we studied his work extensively in school. But this new found attachment crackpots have to him has really soured me on the topic. It has become an almost religious thing, with people legitimizing any number of fridge ideas by trying to assign it to tesla. Which is a pity since he did really great stuff, but his actual accomplishments have been utterly swamped by the mythology that has popped up around him.
There is also the irony in people trying to focus on his legacy have shifted so many other even less well known inventors and scientists to him. It is almost like we can only acknowledge 1 person per domain per century or something. Even before his new found attention he was one of the most famous inventors of his period.

From what I heard, from historical documentaries and Wikipedia mind you, Thomas offered Nikola $50,000 (which would be $1,200,000 today) if he could improve the system. Nikola succeeded, but Thomas said he didn't understand American humor, so he angrily left. At least, I think that's how it happened. Also, it wasn't an earthquake machine, it was an oscillator for steam powered generators. And it wasn't a death ray, it was more of a heat beam, I think.

This is the true story Nikola Tesla, without dramas. Nowadays, Kids are worshipping Tesla for building that childish sci-fi Tesla coil and they like to imitate his bizarre personality. If you're really into science he was just a ordinary eccentric man, nothing more. Not the greatest mind in history or man with the highest iq (there's no official iq test for him) as most kids say. I respect him for what he did with his 84 years of his life on Earth, but I also dammed shame on him for so many stupid guessworks he made, that most of which were scams. He was just randomly handpicking the ideas that pop-up to in his head, and he also mocked the most important modern scientist, Albert Einstein and his works which are observable truth.
First time I read about Nikola Tesla, i was about to like in his works and his oddness. But Tesla's fans...😥, those ignorant Tesla's fans are so annoying!

I think it's sad. He was obviously a brilliant mind, he would have done very great things if it weren't for the fire.
The fire might have affected him badly. It's after it happened that his life went down hill. He became crazier and his ideas became outlandish. He might even develop a mental problem as he aged.
I'm just saying, it's obvious that he was traumatised.

At long last, finally a simple and factual video on the man.The mythology surrounding Tesla seems to be growing daily. Most discussions lead me to believe that there is a new religion growing with him as the Messiah. It seems to go something like this.
Once upon a time a man was born with an intellect so great that no other living person has ever come close to him. He performed many miracles and was totally altruistic. A cabal of devils by the names of Edison, Westinghouse, and Morgan, in league with an evil government, sought to exploit his inventions, suppressing those which would have liberated us, and ensuring that he died virtually unrecognised and in poverty. Only a filthy version of his perfect inventions, which allowed the evil capitalists the greatest wealth and power, was ever allowed to be made. If only we had worshipped him in his lifetime, we would now be living on light itself (I shit you not).
Amongst his miracles we may list
The miracle of radio, far in advance and more powerful than anything Marconi applied.
The miracle of wireless transmission, which had to be suppressed as this would not allow the evil capitalists to charge.
The miracle of the death ray, which governments were too stupid to recognise.
    And finally,
The miracle of free energy, which would allow every human being access to unlimited power in spite of the laws of thermodynamics.
I think I want to spew.

Wireless energy is actually possible, just on small local scales such as a room and at small amperages, not on the global scale that Tesla imagined. Using plugin radio wave transmitters and radio wave receivers at high enough amps, or the more expensive, but less interfering inductive walling, you can create a room which could send electricity through the air or induce currents in devices built to receive the specific frequency or induced current.. It's just not possible on a global scale

I'm gonna be that guy and say your assessment of Tesla's theories are challengeable at best. However, since this is a comment section, I expect I will be asked to do so after saying such a thing. Basically, a massive amount of energy moves through the atmosphere every day, and it all operates within a relatively closed system (closed by an ozone layer in most places). The Earth's shape and composition keeps this field of charged particles (our atmosphere) closed by essentially operating as a big electromagnet with an iron and nickel core rotating inside a big rock and dirt turbine. When we look at smaller turbines we made ourselves, we observe that they rotate at a certain frequency in order to produce the resultant electromagnetic system which we redirect into electrical systems. The idea is that the very electromagnetic impulse which the Earth itself produces as a giant turbine may be tappable by somehow engaging the field of charged particles around the biggest electromagnet we know of (our atmosphere) rather than having to produce a bunch of smaller ones and engaging the field of charged particles around those like we currently do. It makes a certain amount of sense, but he probably would have had to gain access to global scale architecture for the system to work, thus his futzing about with J.P. Morgan types.

I don't see the reason to exclude Tesla from this, therefore the serb/croat debate is irrelevant.

Also, just tell me how would some average Swedish guy/girl feel if you told them that Alfred Nobel was a Finish? After all, it wouldn't make much difference in his life or carrier if he was Finish or Norwegian, wouldn't it?
