OKAY... BUT before running out to buy the voltage checker.. SWITCH burners. Take the non-working and it's equally sized burner and try them in each others spot. IF the one that was working doesn't work in the non-functioning spot, and the burner the previously didn't work but does in the spot that was working, then you already know it's most likely a FUSE problem or the receptacle/switch that needs replacing.
Just like yours, my bottom left eye wasn’t working. Didn’t know you could lift it up. Mine little connector box was snapped out of place so I snapped it back in, and it’s working! Thanks for your help man! Much appreciated!
Don't forget to mention wiring. I had to fix an older range in our rental. Someone had previously replaced the receptacle and apparently hadn't pushed on the wire terminals firmly enough. The wires were loose and arcing, causing corrosion and poor power transfer. Cleaned and tightened everything and it's all good. Also make sure wires aren't getting pinched, worn, wire nuts are tight, etc.
Nice! This is a very good point, loose electrical connections can cause really bad problems. Definitely check the wiring to make sure it looks good when working on an older stove.
Thank for this informative video. I was able resolve a hiss sound and then a click occurring every 30 seconds by cleaning those contact points. That burner switch had broken in the “on” position for years bur nobody realized it because the burner was cold due to those contacts being dirty! One day would no doubt have caught on 🔥 Thanks for saving lives and solving that irritating sound I had been living with!!!
What does it mean when it gets warm but doesn't go to full hot unless you wiggle it around but as soon as there's a heavy pot on it, it goes back to just being warm?
Thank you for this. I was in the midst of making some grade a potent homemade cannabutter when my oven burner in the bottom right corner started emitting smoke and burning from the edges of the pan and nothing from the eye (center) and so now I feel a little more enlightened on how my electric stove might work after viewing your content
I just bought new burners and drip tray for my Hotpoint, but the drip trays dont have the 3 slots required for my element to sit flat. Both sets said they were for Hotpoint.
I switched the bad burner with a good burner and I'm still having problems in the same location. It works most of the time, but sometimes not. If I jiggle the eye and turn the burner off and on, it starts working again. What are the possible problems?
I found it a bit easier to swap burners around. If a sm one is not working put the other sm burner in the bad spot then turn it on. if there is still no heat then... Also put the bad burner in the known good spot and then turn on the heat. If it heats up then you know the burner is not bad.
Thanks, I think I need to replace the electrical block. Where is the video you did on that? Thanks for creating and sharing this video Darren, very helpful.👍
My rings were maxed out and the camera probably adjusted the color a little. As long as they are getting hot they are probably working fine. They typically either work or don't work at all
Hello. Can you please tell where are the sensors located ? My burner turns off after a few mins and again turns red. But that affects my cooking. My tortillas remain raw and I don't get the expected color. Please help me how to remove the time sensors.
Nice video. I have a question on my issue. I replaced the knob last year and now when its turned on theres a spark in the back of the stove where the knob is. Any suggestions on what this may be? The burner still works.
Can I ask you a question? This was very helpful but troubleshooting my Hotpoint I know it is the control switch. I looked for a utube to help me get the back panel off but no utubes looks like the back of my stove. Mine has a silver metal back wrapped around the sides by the black front panel that holds the control switch turn knobs. Do you know how to take this panel apart so I can get to the control switches? thx!
Without pictures I'm not sure. Can you tell me the model number? I could google it and try to find a picture. You may have to go in from a different side if there are no screws showing on the back but I feel like that would be weird. See if a panel comes off and exposes some screws. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but without seeing it, it's tough. Good luck!
@@DarrenG thx. my model number is RB755GOT4WH. Here is a link for pictures of the back and under the front panel screw. sites.google.com/site/kristinecampbellart/oven
A lot of confusion replacing stove eyes. Some are 120VAC and some are 240VAC. How do you know which one you need? Also on an 8 inch for example, you can get a 4, 5, or 6 turn coil. If it's too hot, can you add a turn? Not hot enough, take away a turn? Also, some have loop lugs and some have spade lugs. If it's a plug in type, should you be using the spade lug type?
A lot of those problems can be solved by bringing your eye to the hardware store with you and getting a matching eye. Outside of that, amazon your model number and "stove eye" and most will list the models that match. You don't usually have to know the technical details to replace the eye. Very good point though!
My stove was less than 6 months old and my gf would cook something and walk off and forget about it and water/food had boiled over and spilled into the eye (she did it a few times) and now it has blackened char all over the silver plates under the eye coils. Right after that happened one of my smaller eyes is not heating up to where it should be. Its obviously getting power but I'm having to crank the temp control knob up a lot higher than I did before to cook something. Is that most likely going to be crud/char build up on the eye coil terminals thats blocking some of the voltage from passing through?
What do you call that area where the crumbs fall when all the burners and pan are taken off? That is really greasy and so hard to clean can that replaced?
Hey Its headache for me now .what would the cause of the burner turn off automatically to normal temperature after reaching to its high temp ( red )? Is their any voltage control or else ? Do you have some idea why my stove eyes got shut off by itself while i am cooking and if i turn on other eye then same thing happen. why the burner cant stable of same temp 😒
How about if the Surface unit light stays on at all time is it bad or a issue. I don't have no issues with none of the 4 burgers or Oven everything Seems to work fine. But good video by the way 📹 👌 best so far
Heres my question: HOW to you open the stove top of this type of stove? I have a hotpoint and apparently, I can't? It's so gross underneath the burners. :(
My issue is that my “burner on” light stays on. All my elements cool but then that one burner gets slightly warm (barely) but you can feel the difference form the others. Can this be a switch issue? Also, great video!
More than likely it's the knob that turns that burner on. Those are prone to go out as well. I've replaced some that turn on but won't turn back off. They're easy to replace.
Technically, the stove is designed so the burner doesn't get power unless you turn that burner on using it's switch. I did not unplug my stove during the video, that's how I was able to test the voltages. BUT your stove may have a short or other nasty surprise, so I can't recommend working on anything that is live for fear that you may get unlucky. Be safe but that is how it works.
i replaced the element when i put on high the element glows red but takes some time to get all red but when i reduce between high and medium or low the red disapears is normal that to happen or something else needs replacing?
I have exactly the same stove as you…. Question, when my stove is on, the stove top (the white part) gets very hot…. Is that normal, if not, how to fix it. Thank you
These stoves are complete garbage don’t ever buy them. The burners come on and get hot at first then they shut off for 4 or 5 minutes before they come back on. They don’t cook at a constant temperature. If you try to boil water it’ll boil then stop for 3 or 4 minutes then boil again. If your trying to simmer something they will either simmer then stop and if you turn up the temperature so that it doesn’t stop simmering it will start boiling then simmering. The stove constantly drastically changes temperature. It’s the worst stove I’ve ever had to use.
Smoking sounds like you got something on it. You can pop it out and clean it or buy a new one. New burners are cheap at lowes. This is if the eye its self is smoking. If it's smoking at the electrical point where you plug the burner in.. I would call an electrician
Great video
Thanks!
Hi. This quick fix literally saved me $500 on a new stove and now I’m a hero to my wife! ✌️
Thank u!

I was thinking the same thing... no need for a meter

Dude I rate you a 12 out of 10 for straight to the point very explanatory good video you helped my issue thankyou sir!!!

I like z way u grasped z heating element to test z continuity, u already close z circuit wz ur hands bro.
I took pliers and squeezed the prongs a tad closer and it worked. Thank you.
As someone who does maintenance GE stands for “Good Enough”
Thank you so much for your constructive guidance to fix the issue!

MY BOTTOM RIGHT BURNER IS A PROBLEM BURNER, TOO! I bet it's a problem specific to this make and model! :) (Well, duh!)
This is great!!! My costing has worn off so I needed to replace them to cook safely! This is excellent! Thanks for showing how to detach and reattach!
I'm not seeing the video on replacing the connector block. Any updates?
I just bought new burners and drip tray for my Hotpoint, but the drip trays dont have the 3 slots required for my element to sit flat. Both sets said they were for Hotpoint.
I'm having trouble finding the proper drip pans for my Hotpoint also

Who else is here cuz their stove just shot a flame out the burner and went out and now cooking yer stir fry in the microwave?
Omg lolol! That's horrible hahaha
Noo bro
Meeeeee
Oh hell no that’s not good
Yeah buddy
Great job Darren...I will diagnose accordingly. Thanks for the super helpful guidance.

Thanks we fixed it, chicken chilly tastes so good.
Thanks, I think I need to replace the electrical block. Where is the video you did on that? Thanks for creating and sharing this video Darren, very helpful.👍
Should the rings be red like yours were? Mine stay mostly dark, but on one of them, just a few circles are red.
My rings were maxed out and the camera probably adjusted the color a little. As long as they are getting hot they are probably working fine. They typically either work or don't work at all
Can I replace those temp sensor coils on the new stoves with the old type.
I haven't worked on one of those but this says you should be able to www.goodmoneysense.com/disable-sensi-temp/

One of the burners somehow got stuck, how do I take it out?

thanks,i could"nt find part(element),what i did is clean the element using scotchpad amazingly it worked(it was very dirty)
Wireless voltage detector is soo awesome
What if it making a clicking noise when off and on ?

I can't get my stop top to lift up, is there a remedy for it?
one of my electric stove burner EYE Round thing is braking open
How do u put it back in
How do you disconnect coil?
Very informative video. Thank you
Thanks!
What is the reason I can have my burners on LOW and they run red hot even on Low?
Thanks
No problem!
Awesome, Thank You 🙂

What would be the problem in a Highpoint oven if you replace the bottom burner already and you have no power to it still.?
Would it be the control knob next to check?
i replaced the element when i put on high the element glows red but takes some time to get all red but when i reduce between high and medium or low the red disapears is normal that to happen or something else needs replacing?
That is normal. It only should turn red if it is turned up to almost high or on high.
What causes all of the eyes to only burn in the center or along the outer edges?
Our burners spark and catch on fire. I have cleaned them very thoroughly and they keep sparking and catching on fire so I don’t know what to do.
Get it on ebay, 1/3 of the Lowes or home Depot price
one of mines works but doesnt get all the way to the hottest temp when set on high
THANKS!!👍
Great video. Thanks
Thanks this helped a lot
Very helpful!
Nice job bro! Btw you forgot to take out your pocket knife before you closed the top stove lol
Thanks awesome video!!! Helpful!!!
Mine stopped working because I tried to clean it and I can’t put it back to the right way to get it to woek
I have exactly the same stove as you…. Question, when my stove is on, the stove top (the white part) gets very hot…. Is that normal, if not, how to fix it. Thank you
I think that's pretty normal, I sold this stove but I know with coil eyes like this the top can get pretty hot.
I just bought this exact same stove 2 weeks ago and found out one burner goes red hot on low and the other 3 don't get hot enough to cook.
Very informative!
Help, my stove is only 2mo old my oven light stopped burning
Thanks bro !!
Great, thank you
hopefully probably, should. excellent
very good video
Thank you
what if its an older stove that doesnt have the lid :-(
Great
Thanks!
Ok but where the replace the terminal video?
Thanks …
Tks
Where do yo live where thr burnr is only $10 lol. They like 30 each here
Lol i just plug it into a same sized different burner slot to test the coil lol
I watched this video and then realized my oven was set to clean mode ... and that was the issue all along
When F1 is showing and beeping a Frigidaire

Or you just stick it into a terminal that works.

When if only 1burner is working on stove
Just switch out the small eyes and see if it works lol
Barely can hear what's he is saying.
