That looks pretty cool. I always loved the Kenner figure. He doesn't do much, but just love the tactile feel of him.
Santos bacalaos es el jefe
Droopy always reminds me of a tardigrade. LOL!
I just realized, I wonder if the Max Rebo band is an allegory for _The Three Wise Moneys: see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil._
Droopy has no eyes, Sy has no ears, and Max no mouth.
The designs were all made by different people and then selected by Lucas to be the band, so that’s probably a stretch, but it’s interesting to think about
Thanks for the wonderful review and for sharing more of Droopy's backstory and that of the ILM creature team's work!
Droopy McCool? More like Droopy McCoolest! Awesome Statue, Great Review! 😎👍
Please make a Jabbas palace role call on droppy McCool 😊
Eventually I'd love to get one of these maquettes, but I'll have to wait till I can easily afford a future release.
Unique concept collectible, nice. Good comparison to the Buddha statue to this same pose almost of Droopy McCool's original design before it progressed to his later form. Thanks for showing it! I would like to see more of these Droopy Aliens in Star Wars in the future. I was re-watching Return of the Jedi this weekend and I don't think him or the Sy Snootle's Band survived the Desert Katana's fate, unless they escaped offscreen possible during the chaos.
They did escape if you believe what they’ve shown in other media
@@MightyJabbasCollection That's a relief to hear. I'll look into their story, thanks!
Very nice review. These concept maquettes are not for me, but I appreciate seeing the review. I’m a longtime collector of Gentle Giant mini-busts which vary wildly in sculpt quality, so I do appreciate that these are exacting and do a great job recreating the small sculpts I’ve seen in old footage of the making of Return of the Jedi. However, the much higher price point, the inconsistency of bases and boxes and other details do take away from their collectibility to me. But the great thing about Star Wars and its popularity is that there’s something for everyone and an audience for everything.
I'm not a fan of the "special edition" changes, especially in Return of the Jedi. The original Lapti Nek song and the 3 band members were excellent. The new stuff was crappy. 💩
To each their own man, but I overall highly preferred the special editions; like the redesign/extended Wampa scene, and the visuals of lively Mos Esley. Things I hated were two times in a row crappy CGI Jabba, and imposing Hayden Christensen over Sebastian Shaw (that was pure blasphemy).
I love Jedi Rocks. I had that cool partially transparent CD single for the song with the band members printed on it. But yeah, 17 y/o me in '97 played the hell outta it. I loved the visuals of it too. Everything about that scene was actually fun compared to the original. I do think Sy's new design was more fitting, but I prefer the OG puppet, and could do with a little less Joh Yowza.
*And I do get the whole thing brings that element of fun and silliness to an environment that commands mystery and doom. Especially at the end with the "uh oh!" from Sy. I just loved when they added more to Star Wars, because I was such a major OT mark. My first memory in life was seeing ROTJ in theatre. So as I'm writing this, I totally get why someone wouldn't like the scene since it's tonally so different.
For some reason I don't know, I always assumed she's a girl ah ah
