How do you midi them ? I have an M1 as the controller , midied to jx08 to jd08 . The problem is JD08 is one one patch and will not change . Very frustrating .
I think the JD800 is the ONLY synthesizer Roland built giving us front panel access to Roland's 4partial-Time Variant architecture with 8 stage envelope. All those PCM synths for the last 30 years and only one synth that could sound design without a menu. Now finally hands on control of 4pTV again. Thank YOU!
Awesome Video and demonstration of the JD and JX Daniel!! Your manner of explaining things come across clear and to the point. I’ve had my JD-08 for a month now, and I’m loving it! The sound that comes from this system is phenomenal!! This system has an arsenal of controls that allows folks to really tweak sound! I was skeptical of the boutique systems up until I bought the JD-08…..my humble expectations were blown away…. Bill Maryland

Hi adamjackson. When I'm sending two different MIDI Channels, each with their own unique Key Range, I'm splitting the modules. When the Key Range of both MIDI Channels span all 128 notes, it's layered. -_Daniel_
Thanks for this demo. I'm pretty new to synths and looking for my first one as addition to my TR-6S drum machine (what brought me to roland in the first place). I'm trying to decide between these two as i like the USB-Interface capability and especially the 2 layers of the step sequencer which should enable me to play bass and chords on only one device. Right? I'm still not sure which one to choose as i have not found my sound yet...Do you have any recommendations? Maybe which one of these two is more flexible or more capable of specific sounds/genres?
Hi. I don't know if you demonstrated filters. Which of these units have nicer sounding LP filters / resonance. Does JX has warmer sound (pertaining to analogue)? How about programmability? Does JD offer more real time adjustments? Do they have software for further modification? They seem to offer lots of typical synth options which is great but what if you have a situation that you only need EP or piano or something close to Hammond organ. Can you still use some presets like that or you need a different breed (Rompler) altogether?
Daniel, you worked in Guitar Center in Chicago in the 80s? The one on Clark Street? If so I might have driven you crazy as an HS/College kid exploring the synths!

I've got a Jupiter-X, and I believe the JD-08 would be redundant (but for the sequencer), for the reason you state. I'll get the JX-08, it seems more apt to contrast with the Jupiter.
hey Roland please listen carefully ..... i NEED a boutique version of the mc 202 with delay chorus and reverb of course ?! it will sell and i will be the first to buy one !!
I know it's often said, but I'll say it again. Why doesn't Roland make these for adults with normal size controls? Even if they sound good, they look like toys, and an audience is not going to take you seriously if you use them live. Is it so Roland can save on shipping and make more profit? I don't get it.

It has been an absolute pleasure to watch Daniel go from "Pretty darn good at synths" to "Total badass synth wizard" over the years haha. Amazing demo
This is the best demo i have heard on these two units. Daniel really knows how to use these synth engines to their peak potential!
Really lovely listening to you play these Daniel. I have no need for these, more of a guitar guy, but I listened to the end. Highly enjoyable.
Whoa, that sent chills up my spine! Thanks for another great demo, Daniel.
You are the best, Daniel ! Great performances and review.
I love my JD-08!
Same here!
I do but that harmony that wen you press start sort of bugs me because it takes away the sound I want when I midi

So if this one board… plugged into 2 synths… and split? Or layered?
I NEED this set up!

Hi Ron. It's possible, but you would have had to visit the Chicago store on Milwaukee Ave in the mid'80s. -_Daniel_

I've been wanting to know this too. I sent them a message several days ago but haven't heard back. Hmm?
I think I'm right in saying the JX-08 is based upon the JX-8p not the JX-3p (which used the PG200 programmer, I think) 😉
