Great video. I agree with everything you said. I will always go for the CD over the record. My collection is constantly growing.

    I feel for you.
I only buy Vinyl when I want to buy it, and I always check when I buy it for the quality of the album on Discogs, and other Record Store prices, even HMV, or whatever, but I mainly I buy Vinyl brand new, when I can afford it, and I buy mainly CDs, when I can, like I recently got Metallica's '72 Seasons' on CD, and I only got the CD, and I refuse to buy the Vinyl for the price of it, and I mainly buy Vinyl for albums I love, but I don't buy it in masses, and I like to mix my music from CD's, Vinyl and even Digital stuff, however, but I prefer to mix them up, but I rather buy Vinyl brand new in my opinion.
But my thing with Vinyl is that I normally play one record once a year, whereas the CDs, I play them more, like I have the First Aid Kit albums on CD and on Vinyl, but I wouldn't buy them all, and a majority of my favourite artists I usually like to have two or three albums on Vinyl, but the rest on CD, really, but it's how I am.

Hi Lewis, I agree with a lot of what you say here. I think the key is that the music is the main thing, a mixture of formats is probably the right way to go. It's certainly no good for our finances when we buy things on multiple formats... :)

Hi Toby, I absolutely loved this video. Well done, really interesting and wonderful to hear you views. I wonder if other young music fans like you will shift to CD from vinyl due to the quality, price and other reasons you state? Phil

Thank you Phil. I watch a lot of your content, so great to see you enjoyed this. I think it's certainly possible, I think in my age bracket vinyl is probably fine for those who want 20-30 albums only, but for a larger collection it probably isn't financially viable to most, along with the other things I mentioned.
Also thanks very much for subscribing, more content coming soon hopefully :-)

Thank you for a great video! I switched to cd´s mostly because the serious quality issues I had with new records recently. You know the story. Non-fills, skips and pops, warpped discs, off centre pressings etc. So I bought few cd´s instead and I realized that with decent modern DAC´s that we have got available now the cd´s sound great. Now I have got complete discographies of my favourite bands on cd. Still, it costed me quite a lot of money because I do not like remasters and I had to source the original cd´s (and a lot of them were quite rare pressings) via Discogs or Ebay but obtaining the same titles on vinyl would cost me a fortune. I am happy with my cd´s collection now and I do not plan to get back to records yet.

I also love vinyl and CDs, and you're right records that haven't been that well looked after can skip, plus I found that a lot of dealers clean their records and therefore this can disguise it's true condition. CDs are much better value, I would never buy brand new vinyl unless it's hugely reduced in price! Records are great fun if you can buy them cheaply, I mean a pound a throw, otherwise it's a no from me. You can sometimes shift dirt from records using gentle back and forwards motion with a carbon fibre brush. Also make sure you have a decent cartridge, decent doesn't mean expensive! Just a £30-£50 audio technica is fine.

Definitely agree with the price point, you haven't lost a lot with a cheap record. Condition is an issue too, I can only think of a few CDs which skip, and it's fairly obvious from their condition that there may be a problem. As you say, with vinyl it's sometimes so tricky to tell. And I've even had occasions where there are records that look like they will definitely skip - and are fine! So very unpredictable. Thanks very much for watching :)
