Discovered this group about a year ago and they very quickly rose to the top of my favorite groups of all time. Your reaction was very similar to my first reaction to this song. Also, nice to see fellow English speakers enjoying Otyken as much as i do. :)
I'm slowly becoming a musical globe trotter. My birthday is at the end of May, so I'm celebrating by going to see Bowling for Soup on the 5th and Bloodywood on the 16th. The first Otyken reaction I did I wasn't really sure what I was seeing/hearing but the people that tuned in were so kind and understanding and patiently explained them to me, and this time I was better prepared. I found out some of their music is based on the poetry of a famous Russian historical poet based on real events, which made it even cooler for me because I love history!
I love the vast wilderness they film in, the panoramic sweeps and the cinematography. It's beautiful. I don't do snow too well, but if I could I'd have a remote cabin in the middle of the woods for the solitude.
6:29 The woman was dead, brought back to the village, and prepared for burial. In harsh Siberian Winter the ground would be hard as concrete, so they would leave the body in the cold to “preserve” it until they could properly perform the burial rites. In the lyrics you can read she’s praying to her God, He answers (the dead woman’s arm raises and catches the horn, then her eyes open), and (in my interpretation/opinion) the throat singing is their God (Tengri in this case) greeting her and welcoming her back. That’s how I see it
Wow! I am - once again - diving deep into 'folk-music'. And this time not only old Scandinavian/Norse music...but have realized - and experienced - that there is something beautiful in all traditional folk-music! (This time around there's the internet, overflowing with amazing music from all corners of the world!). I really loved this one - and, just as in most folk-music it's loaded with meaning (sometimes culture-specific, sometimes universal). And, as you yourself said - just look at their instruments! Marvelous! (BUT PLEASE - tell me that the drummer didn't play with those 'sling-like' things, as opposed to some kind of 'sticks'.....that...well, that just cannot be done. Or can it?). And then their traditional costumes - absolutely beautiful! And the female lead-singer - she's absolutely beautiful, she has eyes you could just drown in and moves in a way that's just mesmerizing, and seductive. (No offence - it is nothing but a compliment!). We must make sure we don't lose all of our planet's unique cultural expressions!
Первый раз слушаю эту группу. Ощущается размах русской души в вокале девушки, несмотря на то, что она, скорее всего, из малых народов севера нашей страны. Спасибо за реакцию. (Кстати, парень исполняет в технике горлового пения)
I first experienced throat singing watching The HU which I will also be reacting to. From what I understand the band is from the Chuym tribe. I really didn't know what to expect the first time I watched them and it shows, but after all the loving comments I got, I was able to approach this video with a more well-rounded idea. Thank you for being here I'm glad you enjoyed, much love from Texas
Try reacting to Kuchotka. Beautiful, or for a different style, Khan Blues. I found Otyken about 2 months ago, and just love everything they do. Fascinating beautiful indigenous music and instruments.
I'd be there in a heartbeat, cannot wait until next month, I'm seeing Bowling for soup in The colonies at the Lava Cantina, and then May 14th in Dallas I will be seeing the warning and May 16th I will be seeing bloody wood. I am thrilled beyond words. If Otyken came to Dallas anytime soon, I'd be thrilled!!!
The reason that I enjoy that video so much is a combination of the lyrics cinematography and just the aesthetic in general. The first time that I listened to Otyken, I didn't know what to expect and even though I kind of got lost on the video, you guys were so cool in the comments giving me advice and the lowdown on on the band and what they were about. Thank you for being here I hope you enjoyed and I look forward to seeing you again soon
Thank you! I'm so glad I found this band, the recommendation that was made for it was completely for into me initially, and I think my my first reaction to the band shows that. But, as I listened more I discovered that every culture has their own way of expressing themselves. So even if it's not an expression I'm familiar with, it's about discovering what that expression is and what it means and keeping an open mind.
Обожаю Россию - за ее богатство, в том числе в виде многих народов. Народы России это золото мира. Какие же все потрясающие, давайте будем вместе создавать Россию
I think too often a country and it's people are judged and pre-determined by the political situation. When we step back and look what each country, its people, its music and its heritage have to offer, and stop making false, blanket assumptions, we will start to make progress toward a more fulfilling life.

I really appreciate this knowledge. I look forward to reading through the poetry and finding the symphonic metal band! Poetry based on historical events is fascinating for me. Thank you and have a great day!
Another good one. I like these guys. Sadly, they said they got turned away from the...World Cup I wanna say it is? because they're Russian. Have you seen the new Rammstein videos? ua-cam.com/video/NeQM1c-XCDc/v-deo.html
No, although I enjoy Rammstein, the content doesn't sit well with me regarding the channel. And sadly, if they were excluded it's probably for that reason. Remembering to separate the people that mean well from the atrocities of the government they come from would do us all well. That's why stereotypes are born, bred and perpetuated.

O Brasil ama essa música..são semelhantes aos nossos povos originários
Even music as remote as the Siberian Wilderness, or the Mongolian Highlands, has the ability to cross borders, nations, and bring people together.
Sadly the US will not let them into this country to be on AGT.
Again judging a band by his country of origin is pretty f****** sad
