It borders with Yakutia in the north-west, the Magadan region in the south-west and the Kamchatka Territory in the south. In the east it has a maritime border with the United States.
The entire territory of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug belongs to the regions of the Far North.
The administrative center is the city of Anadyr.
The official languages are Russian and Chukchi.
Population: 47,840 people (2022).
The region's territory is 721,481 km². Thus, it ranks 7th in terms of territory among all subjects of the Federation and 2nd among autonomous okrugs.
