About a week ago, I found an old rusty Tramontina lying in a field, and I'm fixing it up with a new osage orange handle. I had never really thought very much about machetes, but now I'm really interested to learn more. They're really cool! Thanks for your videos!
Basically exactly what i expected from Tramontina. Well done & for what its worth I think blades are pretty cool in general. Such tools havent changed much since our ancestors swung them.
Really enjoy your videos, I’m form eastern NC and I’ve always taken an axe with me while I’m scouting for duck season but recently I’ve decided to swap for a machete and I’ve learned a lot from your videos. Appreciate all the effort you put into these videos mam keep up the good work
Checking out a few machetes and came across your channel. New sub. I like your demos but really like your view on community. I think that is what draws me to channels more these days. 👍
@@soloproject99 I’m looking at the Tramatinas. My decision lays in the length. I have shorter blades, machetes and linger knives but I need something for Himalayan Blackberries and maybe a bit of grass/weeds.
@@soloproject99 machetes are addicting lol Someone asked me, why do you own so many machetes? I answered, why not? I enjoy your channel though because you have definitely way more than me so now I can say ... "cause I am gonna be like this guy" and all my purchases are justified lol
Okay, okay i'll bite and leave a comment. Subbed to you a few weeks ago when I was doing research before buying a machete. I ended up buying the Tramontina 14" bolo to take with me for overnight backpacking, off trail, in Florida. I know it's a little short but my idea was it would strap to my pack a little easier than a 18 or 24". Honestly I'd like to see one of your reviews of that bolo. Also, and i'm not sure if you've done one yet but, I think a machete sharpening video would be great. I'll check through your vids if you got one. I've been a youtube consumer for a long time, haven't watched mainstream tv in probably 10 years. I think you got something going here. Start moving into bush crafty and overnight trail camping videos but keep a somewhat focus on machete's, upload consistently, and I'd wager given time your channel will shoot off. You have the personality for it. Talk a little more about your survey experience too I found that very interesting. Best of luck!
Thanks for being here and thanks for the encouragement! I’d love to do some overnight videos. I’ve always said a couple of nights around a fire are good for my soul. It’s nice to get out and reset every once in a while. Not worrying about anything but keeping the fire going, ya know? It tickles my lizard brain and tends to put things into perspective. I like that idea and I’m going to start thinking about how to make it happen! As for the bolo, yes please! I haven’t done a bolo review yet and it’s definitely time!!
that is what I mostly use in northern kentucky ... It fits right into the water bottle pouch on the side of my 30l packs and then I just toss one of the cinch straps over it to hold the top in place. The bolo being slightly heavier at the end makes for quick work when you need firewood while hiking in a small package that doesn't weigh a ton. I use the marbles bolo machete sheath just to protect the edge from my fingers lol
@@sharpridgehomestead I swung the cold steel bolo for a few months and definitely enjoyed it’s weight forward chopping ability. Looks like I’ll be adding another machete to my already questionable back seat of the truck. I tell ya, if I get pulled over, I’ll have some explaining to do!! 😂
@@sharpridgehomestead I got the marbles sheath too. Haven't had a chance to use it yet. I spent some time growing up in the Boone County Kentucky area. Loved it up there.
I better get another before they sell out! I've been hitting so many spruce limbs I fear mine is on its last jobs. Hey, are you using those ear buds as a microphone? How does that work?
I thought my ear buds would work for that but apparently the phone mic is what actually picks up. I use this cheap wireless microphone I found on Amazon. It seems to work okay for what I’m doing. I can get about 50’ from my phone before I start to hear it dropping out. 🤘 amzn.to/3IkO48v
@@soloproject99 Another reason I should get an iPhone🤔 Your videos sound great👍 I woke up to a half inch of freezing rain ice with 3 inches of snow on top so im playing hookey this morning. Snow day🥳
When did it become normal for all machetes to have a warp in them it bugs the hell out of me even the Ontario I got recently has a warp wtf also you should check out the imacasa 24 inch got mine today and so far I'm liking it better than the tramontina
I’ll for sure check that out! The warp thing is definitely getting on my nerves too. I guess they figure it’s not that big of a deal buuuuuut, when you swing one for any length of time, it’ll effect your angle and your sweet spot! You’ll eventually redefine those but, c’mon guys!!
All my Trams have that slight bend. None of them are straight as an arrow. But they're amazing, nearly indestructible machetes for the price... My 24" is my favorite. Absolute beast mode all day long.
Nice. It’s a handy knife to have. I have a green one. I use my Companion most. It’s what I started with, I’ve expected it to break but it hasn’t, I’ve given it a beating too. Mora & Tramontina are a good match up.
