    Nice review! I would be happy to hear more about influence of this device on image quality as seen by eye. Does it influence sharpness? Does it influence light transmission? What are the eyebox and eye relief as compared to scope solely?
    Also I wonder how do different settings of lens angle look l. On Your video scope image is heavily croped, what setting it was, how it would look on different angles - that was missing as for me.

      It is heavily croped because this S18 is the "Rectangular" version with build-in optical zoom(they offered two version before, another version is "circle" version), now Scopemate only offers the "circle" version as default, which cropes very very small, if want to make the reticle appear bigger, set the Lens angle to "narrow" as optical zoom. Regarding the eye see through the scope, S18 maintains as much clarity as possible for eye seeing, almost has no noticeable influence to the eye. It does shorten the eye relief,because it is a rear clip on type, so for heavy recoil rifle, the scope should be with longer eye relief above 5cm. Hope eveyrthing is clear to you now.

    Great review. Obviously, the direct competitor is the TC2.1, but this comes in at roughly half the price and half the weight. The weight is the biggest factor in my use case because I use it to record matches and it makes balancing the rifle more difficult with a pound hanging off the back of the scope.
    I did notice the video from the ScopeMate did look a little washed out and I am wondering if that might be due to the mounting solution they provide. Is any ambient light entering the camera due to the combination of collar/rubber rings that you are using? If the clamping ring is gripping the rubber piece there may be a chance for light to enter through the slit between the clamping ring and the camera body. Not saying it's user error, but just curious if you can get better image quality out of the camera.
    Eager to see the comparison video between the two. Cheers.

      Hi Copper! It is much lighter than my TriggerCam, which is nice. The washout is the light coming in from the eyepiece side, and I've noticed the same thing with the TC in some instances although it's more pronounced with the SM. As Linda points out below, I needed to use a different view setting, which should help. I'm still getting used to all the settings and probably should have played with it a bit more for the video. Overall, it's a really good product, and if you don't really care about the voice recording, then it's darn near perfect. Thanks for watching my friend!

    Very nice Review! I saw another review and they mentioned that there was a caliber limit? Know anything about that? or do you feel it would work on any rifle?

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy  6 місяців тому +2

      Hi Lupo! I didn't see a caliber limit, but I wouldn't put this or any other scope cam on say a 50 BMG. I think it could handle .308 class with no problem. Thanks for watching my friend!

    thanks for the review. would probably be better sound if they had the mic facing the shooter. what's up with that??
    be good to know how it holds up after a couple competitions.

      Hi KG! Yeah, a bit of a design flaw there, but it's not that big of a deal for what I use it for. But for hunting, or even in a match, I could see that being an issue. Overall it's a very good product and I'll keep using it due to the ease of use and straight forward operation of the buttons and especially the focus, which is a major pain on my TriggerCam. Thanks for watching my friend!

    I want to get one of these. I had 2 of the other company’s camera that I used to do videos and they both broke. All electronics issues. The two biggest problems was the weight and the issues downloading the videos. I hope this one is better on the video downloading.

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy  6 місяців тому +2

      Hi Santos! Darn it, I should have gone over that in the video...Doh! Anyway, you can either just plug it into your PC or do what I do and remove the mini-SD card for the videos, which are stored as MPEG's. Weight is about half of the TriggerCam and as I said in the video, eye relief is "good", but takes some getting used to. If you are free recoiling a larger caliber, you may have some issues, but under my 6mm BRA and 6.5 CM, it held up fine and recoil wasn't an issue. Thanks for watching my friend!

      Thank you for reply. I try to use my phone for editing the videos so I like to download the videos onto my phone if I can. I just ordered one, so I’ll see how it works. I’m using this for 2-gun and gas gun comps.

      @The4GunGuy  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi J! I think the issue is that the mic is facing away, which is why it picks up the bolt being run very loudly but not voice. We'll see if they can fix that via software. Thanks for watching my friend!

      @@The4GunGuy Yes, contacted them and they told me exactly what you said, because is water proof the mic is enclosed and pick forward sound, I am able to clean it upa little with the editing software. Great review video. Video quality trumps sound in my opinion.

    Do you maybe have any info how does Scopemate S18 works on hunting scopes (scopes without parallax correction)?

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy  4 місяці тому

      Hi shtiki88! The ScopeMate has its own focus, so you'll just use that when mounted on your hunting scope. Just make sure to pay close attention to your phone or tablet to make sure it is in focus and you'll be fine. Hope this helps and thanks for watching my friend!

      @@The4GunGuy Thank you for answering. Now one more think I need it primarily. Will the image be clear (bouth reticke and image) if there is a thermal clip-on infront of the scope? To know what I am dealying whit my scope is Shmith Bender Zenith 3-12x50 and the clip on is Nitehog Viper 50

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy  4 місяці тому

      @@shtiki88 Hmmm, not sure about that, you may be dealing with "double focus" challenges there where you'll need to make sure the focus on the scopemate AND the thermal are clear together. Your phone/tablet image will show you if it's all in focus or not though.
