Great review. Obviously, the direct competitor is the TC2.1, but this comes in at roughly half the price and half the weight. The weight is the biggest factor in my use case because I use it to record matches and it makes balancing the rifle more difficult with a pound hanging off the back of the scope. I did notice the video from the ScopeMate did look a little washed out and I am wondering if that might be due to the mounting solution they provide. Is any ambient light entering the camera due to the combination of collar/rubber rings that you are using? If the clamping ring is gripping the rubber piece there may be a chance for light to enter through the slit between the clamping ring and the camera body. Not saying it's user error, but just curious if you can get better image quality out of the camera. Eager to see the comparison video between the two. Cheers.
Hi Copper! It is much lighter than my TriggerCam, which is nice. The washout is the light coming in from the eyepiece side, and I've noticed the same thing with the TC in some instances although it's more pronounced with the SM. As Linda points out below, I needed to use a different view setting, which should help. I'm still getting used to all the settings and probably should have played with it a bit more for the video. Overall, it's a really good product, and if you don't really care about the voice recording, then it's darn near perfect. Thanks for watching my friend!
thanks for the review. would probably be better sound if they had the mic facing the shooter. what's up with that?? be good to know how it holds up after a couple competitions.
Hi KG! Yeah, a bit of a design flaw there, but it's not that big of a deal for what I use it for. But for hunting, or even in a match, I could see that being an issue. Overall it's a very good product and I'll keep using it due to the ease of use and straight forward operation of the buttons and especially the focus, which is a major pain on my TriggerCam. Thanks for watching my friend!
I want to get one of these. I had 2 of the other company’s camera that I used to do videos and they both broke. All electronics issues. The two biggest problems was the weight and the issues downloading the videos. I hope this one is better on the video downloading.
Hi Santos! Darn it, I should have gone over that in the video...Doh! Anyway, you can either just plug it into your PC or do what I do and remove the mini-SD card for the videos, which are stored as MPEG's. Weight is about half of the TriggerCam and as I said in the video, eye relief is "good", but takes some getting used to. If you are free recoiling a larger caliber, you may have some issues, but under my 6mm BRA and 6.5 CM, it held up fine and recoil wasn't an issue. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@The4GunGuy Thank you for reply. I try to use my phone for editing the videos so I like to download the videos onto my phone if I can. I just ordered one, so I’ll see how it works. I’m using this for 2-gun and gas gun comps.
Very nice Review! I saw another review and they mentioned that there was a caliber limit? Know anything about that? or do you feel it would work on any rifle?
Hi Lupo! I didn't see a caliber limit, but I wouldn't put this or any other scope cam on say a 50 BMG. I think it could handle .308 class with no problem. Thanks for watching my friend!
Hi J! I think the issue is that the mic is facing away, which is why it picks up the bolt being run very loudly but not voice. We'll see if they can fix that via software. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@The4GunGuy Yes, contacted them and they told me exactly what you said, because is water proof the mic is enclosed and pick forward sound, I am able to clean it upa little with the editing software. Great review video. Video quality trumps sound in my opinion.

I have one and the voice recording is my major con. Hopefully it we’ll get fix with a new software update.

@Jdelta22nc You have done very much good voice recording in your latest video, very great job. Does require a special software?
@@lindayang330 I am using CapCut Pro, it has a lot of good features.
Did you find that the camera impacted the image quality through the scope significantly?
Hi Matt! No problem with clarity at all. I did have to get used to the eye box, but that didn't take long. Thanks for watching my friend!
