    Fun tidbit about ultra marines. There name is a coincidence. It comes from the color of there armor. Ultramarine. A color that comes from lapis lazuli, which back in greco roman times (which ultramarines have themes of) to get lapis you would have to go across a ocean on a expedition or a “ultramarinus”

      Huh! I thought it was because Guilliman named his realm Ultramar, & thus named his Ultramarines after his realm 😅

      in lore yeah but this is the reason GW called them ultra marines, the fact it also works as title of elite warrior is just good writing@@AdeptusArtifexus

      But you are aware that the shade of blue used for ultramines isn't actual ultramarine? Actual ultramarine has a bit more purple tints in it

    I was going to say I also listen to some lo-fi or something else suitably chill to keep my concentration. Feels good to slowly work through the paint strokes and see the figure start to come to life without having to pay attention to anything else in the background. :)

    Leave your brushes in rubbing alcohol for 5 minutes helps keep them in good shape

    Mate I saw your first videos and you have progressed so much. I’m sure that with some time you will end up becoming a really great artist. Keep going on with the work you are doing.

    plasma colour depends on the gas which is used for the plasma reaction - there is also red, orange oder green plasma

    I tend to listen to 90s Grunge when painting but when building i listen to industrial or 2000s metal

    Don't make a dry brush pallet out of bits a sprue etc. Just get a sheet of thin plywood and prime it. you can then use the plywood as a pallet and to work the paint into / off the brush.
    Then once the sheet is covered you can just reprime it and keep using it.

      A valid suggestion. I personally have been using a artist pallet in the same way. But as a counter point, building a drybrush pallet out of sprue and unused/not-going-to-use parts can assist in seeing how much paint is being place onto similar parts without the pain of potentially needing to fix already painted parts on a model.

      @@CryoDex That last bit is crucial to see how things will behave :) Bonus tip is to make a plywood pallet and glue sprue-bits and bobs on only half of it, then one has a dual purpose dry pallet ready to roll :)

    I find painting in sub assembly easier. I usually glue what I can on, but knives on belts, arms and headsI paint separately. I do glue weapons and pouldrans on arms though but with arms loose they are easy to paint. I don't magnatise weapons as I like multiple groups with different weapons

    It would be nice if GW gave some more tips for beginners in the hobby. A while back they made some handy videos for basing and how to make differnet effects with the textures and more

    • @AdeptusArtifexus
      @AdeptusArtifexus  7 місяців тому

      Huh! They do sound useful! 😁 do we know why they stopped?

    • @TheSombreroDuck
      @TheSombreroDuck 7 місяців тому +1

      I don't sorry. Possibly just didn't get the traction like other videos they published or there was no more need to advertise the texture/ basing paints. Love the way your Intercessors are turning out!@@AdeptusArtifexus
