Last night didn't look a whole lot different from when the Celtics blew out the Mavs in March, which Nick claimed was not representative because Daniel Gafford and Derrick Jones didn't play that much or whatever it was, even though they both did play in that game. Well, Gafford didn't play all that much last night either, and while Jones did get a lot more minutes he didn't have much of an impact, and the end result was another blowout. I think the Celtics are just better, and if the series only goes 5 games it's going to be them winning it, not the Mavs.
We sure Porzingis can’t keep this up? Against Miami he was matched up with a defensive monster in Bam Adebayo, and regardless of what the metrics are the heat are always fantastic on defense. The Mavs aren’t on that level. Gafford and Lively stand no chance against Porzingis, and he proved that in the regular season too.
Brou saying "the Celtics aren't great at home they're 18-14 over the last 3 playoffs" is bad faith. THIS SEASON they are 6-2, and I would say a .750 winning % is pretty great.
Depends how much Luka scores. If he has 50 this game is 109-107, mavs. Probably shouldn't try to count on it, but Luka can and has put up some gaudy scoring totals.
The rest, including Kyrie, just did not make their outside shots. They were open shots, but they could not hit them. That's just the way the game goes.

It’s just such lazy analysis to say “well the Mavs have a history of losing game 1 so they’re fine” instead of looking into the matchup & realising Boston creates a ton of issues for the Mavericks.

So I don't entirely agree with the he played poorly. 6 TO's is poor and 6/16 is not good, but he played good defense (especially a few on Luka) and he was looking to set up the offense and his teammates

luka was the only guy on his team who managed to do anything… tatum is playing in an all star starting line up and still going 6-16 for 16 points with 6 turnovers. you would need to have a bias to trash luka and defend tatum in the same sentence

Jru posted up PJ Washington on one play, then the very next possession Tatum settled for a jump shot on the same player when PJ just got posted up by a guard. I won't hold anything against him for having a great team around him, but as the "best player" on the team you're going to get criticism when you're not playing like it and HAVEN'T played like it.

Nick didn't have to pick the Mavs in 5, he could have gone with 6 or 7 but he just has to put himself out front no matter how silly he ends up looking. Face it, the best TEAM usually wins the finals, and the Celtics are the best team in this instance. They've just got too much firepower on both sides of the ball. Last night didn't look a whole lot different from when the Celtics blew out the Mavs in March, which Nick claimed was not representative because Daniel Gafford and Derrick Jones didn't play that much or whatever it was, even though they both did play in that game. Well, Gafford didn't play all that much last night either, and while Jones did get a lot more minutes he didn't have much of an impact, and the end result was another blowout. I think the Celtics are just better, and if the series only goes 5 games it's going to be them winning it, not the Mavs.

We sure Porzingis can’t keep this up? Against Miami he was matched up with a defensive monster in Bam Adebayo, and regardless of what the metrics are the heat are always fantastic on defense. The Mavs aren’t on that level. Gafford and Lively stand no chance against Porzingis, and he proved that in the regular season too.

This is the thing I can’t stand about sports talk shows. They always bring up the past few series as barometers of how this particular series will go. It’s just such lazy analysis to say “well the Mavs have a history of losing game 1 so they’re fine” instead of looking into the matchup & realising Boston creates a ton of issues for the Mavericks.
