The general consensus of the Dauntless Awakening update has been a very mixed bag. I personally think Awakening is a good foundation to build off of, but it's nowhere near a complete update. The new monetization practices are unfortunately a necessary evil, Reforged was not profitable enough to sustain itself. The devs were too kind in the past, allowing players to obtain free platinum, and then spend it on the huntpass, which would pay for itself if completed, as well as having the Reward Cache rotate previous huntpass cosmetics which could be obtained easily, which also made it quite unfair for the people who payed for said huntpass. One of the biggest kickers was having all of our weapons taken away, and essentially getting rid of weapon crafting. A very drastic change from what Dauntless is, a monster hunter-like. Any veteran really wouldn't have an issue with this, and neither would a beginner. This mostly affected midgame-early endgame players, who were starting to build their collection and feel pride in their accomplishments. I can understand their frustrations, and hopefully the devs find a compromise to this. And the cell system has been an incredible determent to the games health. What was supposed to be a way to encourage many different types of builds, has actually restricted us immensely. We also can't forget about Weapon Tokens, as much as it annoys me that veterans were still capped at 500 tokens for compensation, it makes sense. With the recent aetherite compensation, veterans have pretty much every weapon they want upgraded, and giving us even more Weapon Tokens would have broken the economy even further. But weapon tokens are still a substantial issue on their own, being time gated to weapons is not fun.The endless amount of bugs popping up every second doesn't help either. Of course, the devs are fully aware of our grievances, each season will let you farm up a minimum of 100 weapon tokens, the new upcoming Legend behemoths will also be able to drop weapon tokens from their specific quets, perks and cells are being looked into to open up more builds opportunities. And are even suggesting a way to bring back the old weapon crafting, whether I'd be the same way as before, or a manifestation of the old with the new. As for the future of Dauntless, every new season will have 1 new weapon, legend behemoths will finally debut as well, and next season after that will be a new behemoth. This might be the content cycle the devs will stick with.
If you have any ideas and what the devs could do to improve the game, then let me know, I'm intrigued on what solutions there could be.

tbh even if they can somehow drag themselves out of this pit they've dug themselves into it might be a REALLY bad time for them. Why? Monster Hunter Wilds is coming out in about a month or so. Considering Dauntless imo was taken as a sort of easier take at MH and with a new MH game coming out that's supposed to have a lot of QoL and ease of access I kinda feel Dauntless might've lost it's footing and fallen without any thing to pull itself up with.
When you do something like they did, be it voluntarily or because of new leadership, it pisses off players and scares off newcomers. If they do wanna pull this game around it's going to take a long time. They'll pretty much have to pull a No Man Sky and grind away at the game for a few years to get it back to where it should be and even then it might not be worth it due to the costs and what the executives/owners/etc feel.

@@flamedance58 monster hunter wilds definitely spells trouble, and I 100% with the No Man's sky logic. I'm sure they will be able to pull it back, but it's going to be awhile before the game feels right. As a big fan of dauntless, it's hard for me to even recommend this game. At this point, it's just waiting
