If anyone needs just a little more positive confirmation, I bought a Rega P-10 a couple of years ago and it was the best move i'd made. Absolutely excellent.
@@CJNooberson Yes I do, owner for a decade without any trouble or speed issues. RP6 & Exact II for most of the time and finally upgraded to the Ania Pro a year or so ago. Never a hum either.
Fantastic talk, Steve and Roy. I really enjoyed listening to Roy’s take on things. If I were to buy another TT, Rega would absolutely be on the short list. Thanks, guys.
Very enjoyable and informative interview! My P3 has given new life to albums that I've owned for years, and I now hear things in the music that were sort of buried previously. Mr. Gandy has an interesting philosophy and balance between the engineering and artistic, and this makes for a unique experience.
Enjoyed your interview with Mr Gandy! Finally broke down and purchased a Rega 3 table and it’s really improved the experience of my stereo Rega makes great turntables at all price levels!!
Excellent interview! However I went down the rabbit hole learning about azimuth and vta after your Fremer interview and sold my p3/TT-PSU this week lol. Moving into a pro-ject x1b & the amethyst cart upgrade...this deck has a mini XLR out and is great candidate for MC cart exploration.
I like Rega's approach a lot, and am trying to find a way to justify an upgrade to my P3 to a P8 or 10. Heart says Naia, but I just can't spend that kind of money on a turntable. I wish we could have learned something about their new cartridge, the ND7, because I have used the Exact previously, and could never get along with it properly. Why did they go make a new MM cartridge in roughly the same cost bracket as Exact? But well done interview! Enjoy the music! That's some really good advice.
👏 🎉 💪 For young & old A/V consumers, UA-camrs, bloggers, VC bitchers, and glossy mag publishers, mark the tape(!) at the 13min mark: "...price is NOT any indicator of sound quality... full stop." 💪 I'm not a Rega owner though I do own two more-modern audiophile TTs and a Pioneer vintage. But a single casual interview like this setting can/does help persuade folks from newbies to grizzled veterans like me to look their way. Reminds me, for whatever reason, of one of my FAV speaker designers for 30 years, Legacy Audio's Bill Dudleston. Why I've owned a pair of Focus towers from early 2000. Easily one of my biggest VC & forum pet peeves re: actual vinyl albums, reissues, etc., are usually regular bitchers & complainers with their "...bad pressings & 3-5 attempts to find a good sounding vinyl" and/or "...I've had 3 random skips & pops on side 2...". Great stuff Steve.
Steve, you could absolutely get Jason Stoddard from Schiit, he's very accessible. And they have a newish Phono preamp I'm sure he would love to talk about.
Wow! Amazing. I love my Rega equipment! I am rockin a RP2 circa 1978. I got an Aria mk3 and a Fono MK1. My god the Fono hangs very good. The Aria still beats it…. But they Fono is amazing for about $250.
@@jimsregaturntableshifijukebox yup. I got it used off the bay for $450. Smokin deal! Very impressive. Interestingly I almost like my Fono better than the Aria. The Aria is definitely more detailed… but my Fono images deeper. I am using a Nag MP-500. Thinking about trying a Rega cart (apheta 3 or ania pro)
You should have asked him if he's working on a new generation of turntable models, and when they will come out. They generally release new models every 6 years or so.

What a concept... it's the music ......

Great conversation! Love my Rega Planar 8 / Apheta 3 combo!
Thanks so much for bringing quality information to the masses Steve!
This was amazing, Nick. Do you have a Rega?

This was a very interesting and informative episode. Im gonna have to look into rega more than i have in the past. Roy is a very straight shooter.
I own a P10 and it’s phenomenal. I love listening to it every night after work, it brings recordings to life!

It would be on my shortlist too, Nick! 😉😂

FASCINATING. Thanks , Steve. Suggestion: give the guest a full screen more often, esp. if they are doing a monologue.
Of course. It was not working for me today though.

lol @ calling Fremer out for “going after Rega” because he didn’t get a Naia review unit 😂
Shots fired!
😮... 😂
I was expecting my pro-ject debut carbon to be on same level. I was mistaken and now look forward to purchasing more Rega products.

I suspect Fremer will not be able to let this one go.
So hum = good?
Getting ALL the music??
