I have a John Deere 3025E. As an active duty service member heading into my first winter with my tractor in the Colorado mountains, your videos have helped me tremendously in preparing and maintaining my first tractor. I'm looking to utilize my JD to its fullest as I didn't buy my 2nd tractor first and get a maxed out 4000 series. Thanks for the fantastic support to a bunch of strangers!

Weight is your friend here, either adding ballast by filling the tires w/ a rear blade or investing in suitcase weights.
I run a kioti ck4010 hst, its larger then the 1025r, I filled my rear tires (liner w/ calcium) and run a 72" rear blade, took the front bucket off and bought a hla 72" snow pusher, even w/ all the extra weight running r4 tires I still have traction issues when the snow is 12+ inches, so I bought front and rear tire chain, diamond pattern for the front and double ladder for the rear. Most of the time for medium snows I just put the front chains on and its more then enough in the traction / steering department, for large nor'easter blizzard events 18" + storms I'll put the rear chains on, its a bumpier ride but I never got stuck once and the traction makes the tractor like a sherman tank, it can push through anything.

Who doesn't like free? Even better than free are the helpful videos produced by GWT..THANK YOU! I own a B2650 with a cab and live in NE Wisky. After retiring from the military with almost 3 decades of service I've got some parts that are worn out and owning a tractor is a must. Being new to owning a tractor and having some land to manage, we've found plenty of ways to use our tractor, and all these videos really help! Having a set of Bora wheel spacers could definitely improve the stability and safety of the tractor! I have a snowblower on the front of the tractor which was a must and makes cleaning up way easier. It did take some getting used to clearing the gravel driveway the first season and lessons learned in the spring when you see gravel all over the grass. Now I let a basecoat of snow buildup and adjusted the skids to keep it almost an inch up. Keep up the awesome work producing the videos. Stay safe, y'all.

An alternative to the heated seat pad - an electric vest. I wore one in my motorcycle days - thermostat controlled, connected to the vehicle's battery. Worn under a good jacket, it did an amazing job of keeping hands and feet warm.

I have a JD 4300 with a Curtis cab and JD snowblower in NW Montana. We have a three mile driveway and frequently 3-4 feet of snow. Works awesome. A caution-before I got the wheel spacers, I had a link break on my tire chains while I was driving. The chain hooked the brake linkage pulling the left rear brake into full. This sheared a gear in the transmission. Lesson learned-get the wheel spacers if you use tire chains, always double check your tire chain links and tension and if you hear a chain flopping around, STOP and investigate. Lots of good tips on your site, thank you.

I'm finishing up my winter prep project as we speak. I designed, built and installed hydraulic angle function on my scraper blade that I use with my Kubota M5660. Next I scraped, sanded and painted the implement. I used Summit Hydraulics, Depatie Fluid Power, and Outback Wraps products on my build. Turned out sweet and will be a big help so I don't have to dismount the tractor to angle my blade when plowing snow!

  • @timdwyer8004

Some good tips here. Thanks. I can say that chains on all 4 of my LS XJ2025 totally saved my butt last year. In WI we had some very deep and heavy snow falls that required the chains. My front tire chains barely fit so some spacers would be helpful just for peace of mind.
In addition to all of the tractor and equipment tips, I also like to complete tasks such as installing in marking flags, reflectors to indicate the edge of pavement or obstacles and removing any lawn decorations that can be hidden in the snow or should not be hit by snow from my snow blower. Other things to consider are crack filling in pavement/cement or regrading gravel. Although when I had a gravel driveway I found that doing this too late in the fall did not allow enough setup time. This leaves too many rocks loose and they can be easily scraped off into your lawn.

I'm using a John Deere 2025R that I have had for about a year. Your channel has helped me understand my tractor better as well as the use of the many available attachments. We don't see much snow here in the Lowcountry of South Carolina but we do on occasion. A few years ago we had a storm that dumped about 4 inches on us. I wish I had my tractor back then. We do, however, have a lot of soft wet ground to negotiate. Because of this I have had some stability issues when crossing soft areas. I quickly learned about self-recover on a 2025R using my backhoe. I think a wider tractor would help on softer ground. Thanks for the great info as always.

I’ve used a 1023e for the last 8 years in the northeast. Biggest challenge for me is the variation in the density of snow. A big storm with heavy snow is always a challenge when using a pusher, but bucket or blower works. Nice to have options!

We have a BX2360. We don't mow with it but the snow removal is great with a blower and a plow both front mount. What we can lift, like fire wood rounds is great to have. The biggest down side to the tractor is that it is a pin on bucket. I did add a tooth bar and that helps it to dig. Wheel spacers I feel would help a lot. Thank you for your videos.

I push snow on a 1500' paved driveway with my x728. I also push snow on about 2 miles of access trails for firewood access through the woods behind my house. I don't plow those trails down to earth, the packed snow makes for a smoother trail, and a smoother drag for logs. I have loaded tires on HDAP tires and put a rubber edge on the my blade. Keeps the asphalt clear as long as I get on it before driving over it. Much of the drive is through the woods, so, I like to keep it clean and let the sun melt it down bare.

Hello Courtney. The winter prep tips are spot on. Here in New England we are starting to prep for winter and then just wait for the flakes to fly. My 2019 Deere 1025R did well last winter and I can only hope for the same this year. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve got a 1025R and I’m trying to slowly restore parts of the family farm. Lots of hills make it interesting. The Bora well spacers would be so helpful and make it more safe. Especially when trying to remove snow from the driveway that runs up and down the hills from the road.

I have a Kioti CS 2520 and got it this summer to help with little jobs of moving dirt and logs. I mill some logs and also cut and split for firewood. I enjoy seeing some of the options out there for a tractor my size and learning some tips and tricks for owning a tractor in general. Always some good content on GWT!

I had wheel spacers on my BX2380 and they really made a difference. I now have a LX2610 with loaded tires, but I'd love to add spacers to this tractor. Your vedio provides a nice checklist for winter.

3039R power reverser. Tar River grapple. John Deere 3rd function. Spee-Co quick hitch. R4 tires and 2.5 inch steel Bora wheel spacers (rear). Spacers completely changed the tractor on the hills. Highly recommended.

I just sold my Ford Jubilee. I bought a new *this year* Kubota BX2380. I wanted something that both my wife and I can use. This works for snow and as a “powered wheelbarrow.” We use it for general gardening.

Frontline healthcare hero here. 1 more cut and the underbelly comes off the 1025r. I have clamps to keep the bucket off the driveway and I have a 105d with a 46" blade to scrape. Lake effect snowbelt is tough on gear.

I have a 2014 JD 2032R (Generation 1). I also have a 1954 JD50, but that's more of an ornament than a useful tractor. I'm talking a week off here in October for the annual seasonal change over of both equipment and outdoor items. I've started my own "honey do" list and am getting worried I won't have time to get to it all! Hopefully, I'll beat the snow, but living in northern MN, you never know!! This will be my second winter with the 2032R, but I really don't use it for snow removal. My walk-behind snow blower is still going, but maybe after that dies, I'll start using the tractor more.

I have a JD 3520. In winter I use chains on the rear only, and I steer with the brakes. Putting heavy chains on was a chore, until I figured an easy way to do it. I plow with a 3-pt grader blade, and cleanup with the bucket. Sometimes I wish I had a front blade.
