Cow Hitch/Lark's Head/Girth Hitch: Everything You Need to Know

The Cow Hitch (AKA the Lark's Head, Lark's Foot, Deadeye Hitch) is one of the simplest knots in existence. The "Girth Hitch" is nearly identical, it's just tied using a loop of line rather than a bare rope. We discuss all the options for tying the Cow Hitch and the Girth Hitch, including the "Bale Sling Hitch" variant.

I'm going to tie the motorcycle to the trailer please help

You probably want to use ratchet straps! If you must use rope only, you probably want to use a trucker's hitch (ua-cam.com/video/lbHitLAia3I/v-deo.html). Use an Alpine Butterfly Loop as the pulley, and wrap the line through the pulley loop twice to get self-locking tension for a critical/high-tension load like this.

@@thetautline thank you so much, but I mean to tie the rear wheel of the motorcycle to the trailer, I just make 5 simple knots one on top of the other and that is shameful :(

@@rodrigofajardo630 Oh, I'd still go with a trucker's hitch! The most basic version of the trucker's hitch (as shown in the above video) should be fine for this. For securing the first side of the rope, many knots will do, try a running bowline or a poacher's knot.

With a loop, of decent size, I use 2 girth hitches....or a prusik on a ridgeline....and a girth hitch on the "toggle" for tarps or for hanging other things from a ridgeline...

@@rodrigofajardo630, use a girth hitch to connect one end of the loop to the ridgeline (as in the video).....then, create another girth hitch at the bottom of that loop, to slide the "toggle" or stick through, so that it "grips" to that "toggle" or stick (also shown in the video, but instead of on the "top" of the loop, you are doing at the bottom.
