I have always installed it on the hub.

I have just installed the spindle mounted seal on the hub of my trailer because I didn't know that it was supposed to be spindle mount. This is the first time I ever did it. Drove for about 60 miles, checked the seal and it looked OK, no leaks so far. Wondering how critical it is to do it this way.
Strange but all the videos I watched before replacing the seal, none of them mentioned a spindle mounted seals in their videos. This is the only video I found explaining the process.
Why nobody showing this method of installation, pros and cons ???
How many seals like this did you replace in your life and what was your experience, did they leak or stuff like that ?

Depends on what type of seal you get I believe if you have a ruber seal it goes on the hub and if it steel it goes on the spindle
