Perfect example of what arcade1 up should be making ! Played this back in 1980 and this was my favorite game at 11 years old. Classic and deserves a cabinet. Just got mine for the memories!

Hard to believe back in the day those cabinets were huge and weighed hundreds of pounds because they had to be and now they can fit in the palm of our hands haha. That thing is awesome looking I hope they make more of them.
Technology is a wonderful thing sometimes, I never would have guessed as a kid we would ever see something like these mini machines

Seeing New Wave Toys attempt at replicating a CRT's looks gives me hope that they could tackle something like Asteroids Deluxe and give us that cool blacklight asteroid field background. Fingers crossed :)
Just ordered mine direct from New Wave Toys. They had a 10% off coupon. I didn't pre-order this one for two main reasons. One, I wasn't sure if they could pull off the CRT effect, which I think they did a cool job, and two, I didn't think it would be very playable. But then I realized, I buy these to display and not really play, so I'm glad I had this second chance to get one (and not at scalper or ebay prices :) ).

Nice review. Opted for the field test version myself, looks way better in my opinion. Can’t wait for my food fight preorder to arrive next year. I’d love to see a RAMPAGE arcade cabinet come out from them.
My field test edition was delivered yesterday here in the UK, great service again from New Wave Toys 👍. If I'm honest, Missile Command was never a huge favourite of mine but this cab is a thing of beauty (the side art especially) and there's no way I could not have it in my collection. The CRT filter is quite effective, I can take it or leave it but as you say, kudos to NWT for developing it. Nice review, thanks 👍👍.
Artwork on these machines is always exceptional, New Wave Toys really goes above and beyond to make these machines look the part of their original full sized brethren.
What were the customs and shipping charges like?
Hi, shipping was about $50 (just over £40 at current rates) and there was no import duty or VAT to pay 👍

Great review! Love collecting these. I’ve never seen those miniature cocktail ones before. Would be sweet if New Wave came out with that format with a few different games.

Nice review my friend as always! Just got the Field test today and the standard one past week. I only opened and set up the Field test edition, as you said in your video about being a sucker for these and i feel the same way. Closest thing to the real ones you can get. One thing i am running out of is space. I have almost all the ones they made too but now i am seeing the room diminishing for the section i had built for it lol. That's the next phase of my journey after the Coke machine is released.

Welp... There's goes $200 I wasn't expecting to spend today😅. I always said that if they do a mini Missle Command, that I would buy one. Up until now its only been included in mulit-games with a d-pad, not an actual trackball, but holy guac, they've got my money now.
I don't mind the CRT monitor effect. It's New Wave Toys trying to experiment with ways to make their cabinets closer to the real deal. I got mine last week. It looks great with the rest of Wave One, minus Street Fighter II.
I don't really mind the CRT lens on this as long as I'm not in a very brightly lit room, if I am then glare becomes a bit of an issue for me to play on the device. Either way, I'm still quite pleased with my machine.
I agree don't like the CRT effect, so I removed the lens.

Great machines! Question though, did your bundle together or at different times? I bought the bundle but only got the regular machine. After emailing them about it, they have a FT version coming my way. Just wondered what your experience was.
Mine came at different times. My FT showed up about 4 days after my original
@@cooltoy that’s what I’m hearing holds true for others too, but since it it had been a week and no other delivery had occurred, I contacted them about it. They always take care of their customer so I was not worried in the least.
They sent out a status update email a few weeks ago to those who pre-ordered. The gist of it was that they manufactured the arcade version first, then put them on a container ship to the U.S. Then they immediately got started on finishing up the field test versions, presumably shipping them overseas in a later container. End result is that original version was shipped to customers first, and field test a few weeks later.

I didn't like the CRT lens when I originally received mine. But I've warmed up to it, and I really do think it adds to the authenticity. I think my original negativity towards it was just a result of the initial shock since they've never done it before. Because, it *is* quite striking, compared to their previous cabinets. Yeah, it's very reflective in bright light, but what kinda proper arcade was ever brightly lit? lol
I do find the crosshair movement is a bit jittery/jumpy, so I have a really hard time doing precise aiming to take out those "smart missiles" that can zigzag and dodge your shots. Because of that, I've only been able to break 20K a couple times so far. Movement on my Centipede replicade seems much smoother. The trackball can be thrown hard to make it spin some, just like the original arcade version (can't do that with my Centipede replicade). But, the crosshair mostly just stays still, and sometimes even jumps the wrong direction when I do that.
Might just be me, but it seems like the max display brightness has been nerfed some. I wish I could brighten it up one more notch, but it's not bad as is.
The cabinet itself is awesome, as always. Sound is terrific, too. I fired up Missile Command on my Tempest Aracade1Up to compare the two, and noticed the little replicade's sound is actually so much better!
have you tried messing around any with the dip switch settings to see if you can tweak your trackball sensitivity more to your liking yet?
@@cooltoy Yeah, have done so, but couldn't really get sensitivity "dialed in" to anything I felt was better than the default.
@@jpears1100 A lot of the initial, earlier MC reviews have brought the "skipping" trackball issue to light also. I have the Replicade Tempest cabinet and I noticed the same "skipping" issue on it also, regardless of what sensitivity I change the rotary encoder setting to in the setup menu. I believe it is an issue with the resolution of the rotary encoders used, along with the custom Android emulator that New Wave Toys employs in these cabinets. Short of tweaking the hardware, I am not sure that there is much that can be done to remedy the 'skipping" issue, unfortunately. I have personally resigned myself to simply accept that I am not going to get a "perfect game play" experience from these toys. I still absolutely love the accuracy of the artwork detail on these units. Just my $0.02 worth of input. Thanks for the great review! Fred
I haven’t tested it with a full battery yet, but when I initially tested mine, if I had Trackball XL setting to “on” the trackball did not work. I changed it to “small” and it worked. My only other critique/complaint is that the power button feels cheaper than some of the previous releases.
yeah that doesn't sound right, I'd reach out to NWT customer service peeps and see what they can offer up as help on that.
I'm a huge missile command fan, but watching him run the trackball with a fingertip just seems wrong. These are neat but too small to really enjoy playing I think

Yeah the intensity ramps up rather quickly on this game. Gets that adrenaline pumping fast

Good review! As someone who owns the original I can't say I understand the allure of these. Not begrudging anyone that buys them (buy what you enjoy!) they just seem to be the worst of both worlds. They're too expensive to be just a novelty display piece and too small to recreate accurate (or fun?) gameplay. Half the fun of Missile Command (for me at least) is playing with a real trackball that has some heft to it and being able to really whip the cursor around the screen.
