For example you can stay off food for a certain number for hours for a number of days and during that period you don't eat you devote that time to studying the word and praying. Popularly people fast from food from 6am-6pm but for a starter you can do 6am-12noon. Alternatively you can fast from sugars or just do a fruit fast. Also you can decide fast from social media or TV or anything that distracts you from giving more time to God for maybe 3days, 7days, 21days or more as much as you can. The most important thing is your heart in all this and to do it at your pace. However, whatever you choose to fast from, you should try and set out more time to spend with God. The purpose of a fast is to get us more sensitive to the spirit than our flesh because we are starving the flesh of what it loves so much Please do let me know if this helps

OMGosh! I’ve been wanting so long Brother Andrew for you to once again preach this message about not needing more faith but getting rid of unbelief. I remember getting this foundational truth along with the most important one about Spirit, Soul & Body set deep in my heart when I first started listening to you end 2004 when I had made Jesus Lord of my life. I couldn’t understand all this emphasis by some ministries about needing to have more faith when the fruit of the Spirit was a done deal at salvation itself and the life we live post salvation is by the faith of the Son of God Who loved us and gave Himself for us. Just in the middle of listening to this, I suddenly saw that I was coming into some fear and unbelief regarding my bank account. My company was hacked yesterday, and so I was fearful about my bank account, because of the direct deposit. So I have repented of that and I have declared that God has never left me, he has never forsaken me. He has always always provided for me. And while my body and property are covered in the blood of Jesus, so are all my accounts.

I smoked for 12 years before I became a Christian. After I had become a Christian when I repented to God and asked Him to forgive me my sins and was reconciled to God and Jesus and His Holy Spirit, I knew I should stop smoking but I was unable to resist. One day, I was sitting down to have a cup of coffee and a cigarette and I asked God, "WHY do I need to stop smoking (i.e., setting fire to this tobacco and inhaling the smoke into my lungs)?" As I was sitting there, I saw in my mind's eye a picture of a newspaper and the headline in said one word: Purify. I was so stunned, but I knew it was God answering my question and I thought, "Well, that makes sense: that I should, as a new Christian and follower of Christ, seek to Purify myself as part of my New Life. I put down the unlit (almost lit) cigarette and went about my day. Later that day, I poured myself a soda over ice, sat down on my couch and got a cigarette and was ready to light it when I saw, in my Mind's Eye, a marquee like at a movie theater and there was one word up on that signage: PURIFY. I thought, "Well, there's that word again. That makes sense!" and I put the cigarette down and went about my day. Then that evening, that same day, I was just going to "relax" after dinner with something to drink and a cigarette and just as I was going to put the match flame to the end of the cigarette, my vision was filled with a huge billboard sign like you see on the side of the road and it said one word: PURIFY! And I thought, "Well, that's right! That is totally right! I cannot put something as harmful as smoke into the part of my body that is my only source for pure air." (The lungs are amazing at exchanging single molecules of Carbon Dioxide with pure air. If you can study how the lungs work, you will be amazed! They are also amazing at healing and recovering from years of smoking. Just you wait and see!) God is faithful to help when we GIVE UP and admit our helpLESSness. He is a GOOD Father! The next morning, I saw the pack of cigarettes sitting next to the sink in my kitchen and I said, "What are THESE doing here?!" and I put them down the sink disposal and turned it on. Yay, God!

Our church just completed a 3 week fast recently and it was wonderful. Fasting does make the body get into line.
