77" through 83" was the Era that I worked for Kawasaki ( Action Cycles Tulsa ) and these things were nasty . Like you said the frame was flexy on a stock 1000 and most people welded gussets to stiffen them up . Our Turbo models were sold before they ever hit the showroom floor . In their day they were a breathtaking machine . 80' through 85' seemed to be holy days for the Japanese bikes , street and Motocross . PK
The yellow and orange striping on glossy black looks amazing. This style is timeless, and ultra cool! Mean Dean's skill set with a paint gun is off the charts!
Absolute stunning example. My dream bike when I was too young to even have my licence.Had the pleasure of seeing one of these brand new in the flesh parked next to a new KZ1300 and new KH250 triple back in the day in New Zealand. Now in my fifties its great to see there is still some fine examples of these still alive.Beautiful job by Kaplan cycles bringing it back to pristine condition.I saw one of these for sale here 15 years ago and it was priced at $28,000NZD.Here in today's money one would command twice that price at least.Awesome.
That's quite possibly the best bike you've ever featured. I knew a guy back in the early 80's that had one, it was crazy fast!!!
Bringing all the great legendary machines to the channel is the best, gave me goosebumps to see this one
Good night 👍💪. God bless América 💪 Kaplan is the best
The engine and fabrication of those pipes is art ! And that turbo , wow Stunning bike !
Back in the day, I was in high school dreaming about these machines. Had magazine photos pinned on my wall. Very awesome machines on their own but to also have a turbo on it with this miles and story behind it is nuts. There will be a very lucky new owner.
Had no idea this existed. Talk about the best for it’s time that’s a understatement.
KZ 1000s are both legendary & my favorite platform for a street bike. Up the ante w/ a turbo & well it leaves me speechless.
My buddy had that ice-blue NON-turbo and that thang LOVED to wheelie!!
Oh yes........one of my favorite bikes built. Wow you dont see these everyday and when you do they arent that nice. Great bike and thanks again for sharing it with us.✌️
Love the 70s paint! I did my harris in those colours and had a Mr Turbo Z1R poster in those colours on the wall!
For no reason, I love this guy. I sleep listening to his voice , I don't know
Remember seeing one in a Kawasaki dealer around 1980. Went in with my mate who though he was THE man as he had a Z1R, I remember he said to the salesman " I've got one of those" the guy replied confidently " I bet yours hasn't got a turbo on it" they were a very rare beast in the UK
Legendary Kaplin representing THE LEGENDS
Oh man this bike makes me melt inside!! Love it sooo much.
Looks beautiful guys so glad I had my hands on it ... paint on tank Dean is awesome .....wow....Doc Kaplan cycles !NEMM.
I remember seeing this bike in magazines back in the 70s, it was legendary
I had a poster of 1 on my wall.
wow..That is a looker for sure. Absolutely gourgeous..What a bike.. man God Bless the next owner of this beauty
Excellent paint work that is the hardest part of restoration is the color match perfect attention to detail!!! Wouldn’t expect any less from the Kaplan crew!! Nice work guy’s!!🇺🇸
Nice mate. In case I forget have a great Christmas and a happy new year to all at Kaplan.
Only at night Kap. Legendary.
Just saw an article in a UK cycle magazine of this Kaw. Quite a bike.
That is a blast from the past a real motorcycle the best looking I've seen in years absolutely stunning 👌👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Awesome bike, great info on it as with all your videos. One problem with this video. Hearing it just idling is not enough. I really want to hear it ripping up the street thru the gears. What a cool bike! Great video like all the others.
I used to have a subscription to Cycle magazine in 1978 when I was a kid. I remember they did an article on this bike, except it was silver or blue. I believe the phrase "ungodly fast" was used to describe the kind of power and acceleration this bike had vs everything else available at the time.
Love the KZ's! 900 is my fav!
I'm so old I remember these in Cycle When they came out.
My friend Mark in auto shop back in the 70s had one what a beast
Bike looks amazing. Love it cause it's the year I was born. Would love to take that for a rip. Just bought 2022 zed 900rs 50th anniversary.
The whole bike is perfect👌 So cool🤙
Straight up work of art
had my fair share of kawasakis over the years including a 73 Z1 in the rootbeer brown color, the bike i regret selling the most is a mark2, you hardly ever see one come up for sale, mine had the lockhart oil cooler, kerker exhaust.
Excellent bike! I still have my turbocharged 1979 Honda CBX, it'll eat one of those on top, but the Z1RTC is quicker out of the hole.
The early TC bikes used the original Kawasaki paint job, friend of mine here in AZ has one. ATP made the kits, same as the turbo kit on my CBX. A Rajay FF40 turbo is used, likely with a .25 turbine housing so it'll spool.
I'd recommend running race gas in that bike, keep it from getting metal mites. I use 112 Sunoco leaded fuel in my CBX turbo.
I had a 78 non turbo. Loved that bike.
Kawasaki always pushes the limit. this bike, the H1&H2 triples, and the new H2s
Wow Ken I really dont know where you find these bikes. That is an absolute beauty. That was in the garage with the Hens Teeth. I dont know what it's worth but I would definitely like my name on the title.😁👍
In 91 my friend had a turbo Kawasaki. I wonder if it was one like this. Very cool.
I have a 1980 KZ 1000, 1981 GPZ 1100. This bike was in a book I have and have never seen one in person
Damn.. 🤴 King of the 70's right there.. ✅️
I love the bikes you get. Great video. Bravo.
Cousins got a 1100 tucked away collectin dust in corner of his shop…he’s built some badass hot rods back in 80s and still does for a livin now that minin equipment went to hell..I remember he got a nighthawk 750 when I was a kid and it was a dandy…
I know that represents pinnacle of performance but that Mean Green 6 cylinder has me smitten 💕
Thank you Mr Kaplan for your acknowledgment I hope to meet you at MudOhio vintage days it’s only one hour away from my small shop in Doylestown. There's a garage in the town I live in that has a bunch of those bikes I seen two of them at least. Those bikes are so cool can't wait to see more cooler Rippers rip the house off the foundation take care God bless
Incredible!
We had one on the showroom where I worked as a kid. I didn't think they sold those untill 1980
I’ve never seen one of those, I’d love to hear it get the Kenny wind up!
🏍️🔥😲🤩Amazing old school bike,it's not part of the kind of bike that I'm into but on the other hand it's impossible for anyone not to like this bike, I mean look at how all those chrome parts pop out from the black, same goes for those delicious yellow/orange stripes,I mean they pop out just perfectly well on that tank there.Sidelights have come a long way, nowadays they are small and one barely notices them until they're turned on so the only thing I dislike on this bike is the side-lights, I know they're the stock ones was their size was the trend back in the day but they're just too bulky by today's standards oin order for anyone to give a favorable opinion on them 🫤...
Beautiful machine
Beautiful 👍🏻👍🏻❤️
Another piece of art yes and more
My dad had one of these, he said it would stand up and ride a wheelie in ever gear
Nice piece. I just thought I'd mention you were recording in mono instead of stereo.
Bad ass man. I'd love to ride it.
All you can say is WOW . I had the privileged to ride one of these and a privilege to own a original Eddie Lawson special. But being stupid, I sold it.
Bro Mean Dean KILLED it on 5he paint job! And is that a Mr.Turbo fitted? Also, it sounds a bit quieter than I remember... you got baffles?
100% stock ray jay
Good thing I live in Southern Connecticut I'd buy it. 😁😁😁
You gotta roll that up on the dyno!
That’s amazing brother!
Love the retro stripes
God Wow absolutely beautiful what a very rare 💚 Kawasaki 💚🙏👍😍
I love that turbo Harley, awesome
that needs to stay in the museum.
Turbos make everything better, that is a fact
Sounds badass!
NO BRASIL TEM MUITO POUCAS MOTOS DESSA KZ 1000
If those are Metzeler tires, I had a pair on my '78' GS 1000e, they started to crack on the sidewalls within 2 years.
Dream machine
Wow!!!
Very cool!! Bike!!
Beautiful bike 🏍 👌 😍 ❤️
WOW! Thats a keeper
Probably starting to sound REALLY boring at this point, BUT... a buddy of mine in High School had one of those when we were Seniors in 1978...no one could catch him, not even the Cops...they didn't even bother. It's miraculous he didn't kill himself on that thing...
Super rare, I've only see one in my life.. Soo sick..
Hello Nice moto 👍🇵🇹🇺🇲
That is so bad ass. Damn. 🔥🔥🔥
That is badass. Beautiful
Ok just to throw it out there this 1978 kz1000tc without turbo they made 90hp with turbo and 10lbs boost sold with no warranty they made 130hp and ran a standing 1/4 mile at 10.80 at 132mph psycho bike was its nickname.
Trying not to drool. Awesome.
Kaplan “Caveman!”
Very nice 👌
Súper machine retro!!!!puuufff!!!!👌👌👌👌👌👌👌🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🚀🚀🚀💣💣💣⚡⚡⚡⚡

American hero.
Take my kidney... regards Richard London UK 🇬🇧
There's not a lot of Kawasaki's that you can park next to all the Harleys... Without feeling a little self-conscious.
🥶 If you've been riding in 18° weather, I suppose you can just kick over your buddy's Harley and park the Kawasaki in his living room...🦁
tc = turbo charged time capsule. 👍🏍🏁😊
😍😍😍
Mike DeAngelo, concord HS had 1 in the Early 80s
do you have a suzuki kantanna in the museum ? pop up headlight beaut .
NICE! 👍
That was the year I was born! Would fit me perfectly. How much?
At least 33-35,000$$ very rare & almost no miles on it.
