There is no Aerosmith without that enormous deep and powerful pocket of Joey Kramer. As a drummer of 49 years myself..his influence is massive! My drum friends and I still talk over and over about how under appreciated and under valued he continues to be in music. Just one of the most amazing rock drummers ever.
Agreed. And thanks for watching!
I have read his book multiple times. His story is amazing. He has been through a lot and the fact that his band is keeping him out plus the sad loss of his wife, Linda, is just tragic. Keep the faith, Joey.
Well said. Joey deserves better with Aerosmith and definitely has overcome a lot.
I read Joey’s book the summer before my sophomore year, and that same year I was emotionally abused. That book helped me feel like I wasn’t alone❤️
Glad to hear his book was helpful to you. Thanks for watching!
we're here for you now too!! Happy Labor Day!
It's a great book. Best line "I got sick and tired of feeling sick and tired!" Carry on, Joey!
Agreed. Thanks for watching, Graf.
@@paltrowitz I grew up in Boston, and met Joey a couple of times. Always polite to a fault! My favorite Joey Kramer story: A reporter was going on and on about what THOSE GUYS IN AEROSMITH DO! Joey carefully pointed out "Aerosmith is a BAND. I am a PERSON. Steven Tyler is ONE PERSON. I am a DIFFERENT PERSON. Some people are obsessed with sex. Others are NOT." But of course, the reporter wasn't haveing any of it!
@@grafhilgenhurst9717 Ha, I can imagine. When speaking with Joey, I got "what you see is what you get" vibes, which is good thing. No pretentious mystique.
I read his book. My heart ached. Joe and I were good friends in H.S. and he never shared what was going on with his father ~ but, then again I never shared with him, my family dynamics! So many memories with that guy! Next time you talk to him >>> ask him about *Strawberry Ripple*. We lost touch after he went to Boston ~ but, I have loosely followed his career. After watching your interview with him (which popped up on my UA-cam, curiously,) he is exactly the way I remember him. He's a good heart! I'd love him to see this, if there is anyway. Gretchen L.K. (Utah)
Thanks for taking the time to watch. If I ever do connect with him again, I'll relay your story/name. But either way, glad to hear he was a great guy back then, too.
@@paltrowitz Thanks, that would be great. BTW, Strawberry Ripple was the name of the 1st band he was ever in, in Yonkers. ;-) and Steve Tyler was (still) Steven Talarico!
@@GretchenlKlein Interesting! Thanks for the info/history.
Just ordered the book. Great interview.
Thanks for watching
Speaking of cars, I saw Joey at a Barret Jackson event in West Palm beach around 2005as I knew he was a car collector
Cool! Thanks for taking the time to watch the interview
when i first heard of 'tyler perry', i thought steven and joe had a new album out together.
Ha! I get it. Or maybe Steve Perry from Journey?
Get better Joey and hopefully Aerosmith will be back on track for an album and the summer tour. Love from Italy!
Thanks for watching the interview
@@paltrowitz Thank you for the great interview it was nice catching up with him!
@@philippillis9393 Much appreciated!
I can definitely hear how Dave Garibaldi would draw Joey in as a drummer.
Agreed. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Darren. I’m from the Boston area my whole life and grew up with Aerosmith. I love these guys very much as their music has in some way changed my life. I wish Joey and the others nothing but the best of health. Great questions too by the way. Enjoyable interview I have to say. Now let’s get Brad and Tom next!
@@luvbasses5487 Nice! I hope to speak with more members of the band in the near-future, of course.
Is he still a member?
As far as I know he is still a member. Thanks for watching.
was this b4 or after the band kicked him out?
Thanks for watching. After they had their disagreement, but as far as I know they're back together and fine.
@@paltrowitz I'll tell ya, if they would have followed through on that crap, they would have lost fans by the droves, myself especially, thankfully they came to thier senses, and brought joey back, I mean holy crap the drummer expends more energy during a show than all the rest of the band put together, he's the friggin engine that drives the band. and Iv'e heard Steven drum, he's in no position to critizize Joey.I think the reaction from the fan base eas why they brought him back
@@peterkruzenga3873 I agree with you. Some people are "just right" for a band -- and Joey is/was perfect for Aerosmith. Musicianship aside, he never quit Aerosmith, unlike Joe and Brad, and never did a solo album. Thus, the guy stayed loyal to the band and did nothing to water down the brand.
Read the book years ago when it came out, super dark and depressing.
Thanks for checking out the interview with Joey
Got hit in my long hair by JK drum stick at DWMTour A little while later another came my way, had to fight for it, came home with both of em, my son has them now.❤
Very cool! Thanks for the fun story and for checking out the video.
Aerosmith, Skynyrd was the best in 70s
