You're not weak and stupid! everyone has thier stongpoints, you just got to find it, and try new things. Mine is music. I'm preforming this song at my school.
Legend of a song. Not being funny but when you have Ringo and Harrison backing u, u know u r a star! This man is one of the most underrated musicians in history!
Tom Petty's collaboration with these guys are beyond belief for me, all musicians coming together to create something amazing and beautiful... good old days...
This is not a Heartbreakers song. It's from Full Moon Fever, which is his first solo album. Petty co-wrote it with Jeff Lynne. Lynne plays on the song as does George Harrison. Also, Brian May is not in this video, that is Mike Campbell, who had a similar hairstyle (but plays a Gretsch 6186 Clipper on this song and is mock playing Harrison's Stratocaster in the video). Ringo Starr only appears in the video as Phil Jones was the drummer for the album.
Jesse Jinkins -- Johnny Cash cover was for American III: Solitary Man which was released in 2000. That's 11 years after it appeared on Petty's solo album, Full Moon Fever.
A song written all generations. Petty had a gift to see things others didn't and make a song a song about it. This is the most amazing song as it doesn't involve love, a car, a girl, ... It is a song about life and how to live it.
This song became my personal anthem after I was diagnosed with a lifetime of chronic, disabling pain. Sometimes in life, "there ain't no easy way out."
To all my fellow brothers and sister all over the world fighting depression. Fight on, never back down. Do not ever let fear win. Keep fighting your demons and stay well.
Thank you for liking this rock song video. There are several versions of it and they are all good. I very much liked Tom Petty in the movie "The Postman".
J.D. Estrada- yes indeed. It is one of his best. Another I really like is "Free Falling". That is the first time I had seen a woman performing on a skate board and she was good at it.
Interesting fact about this song is Tom wrote this because one random evening a arsonist set his house on fire and luckily everyone made it out alive. This song was a way for him to gain power back in his life.
I heard why he wrote in from the radio, and thought that is amazing. He held so much angrier. I personally am learning to forgive, never forget. Thanks Tom for writing this song.

I knew Tom and his brother Bruce in the early 1970s when I went to college there. Even had dinner at their house. Just down home people...their mother was a sweetheart.
@@nunabiz2807 I believe so...the people who lived in Gainesville, Fl, including my girlfriend at the time, went to school with them and she said "Hey I want you to meet Tom"...(and at a another time, 'this is Bruce' who was Lisa's age) - and I went to the local bars where I would watch Mudcrutch, play. Also I remember a close friend of Tom and the band (and mine), Nancy Luca, who had her own band and I partied with her and Tom occasionally. Tom was just a regular guy - 100%! I thought Nancy would also become a super-star - she DEFINITELY had the talent!
Thats how awesome Tom Petty was: he could get half of The Beatles in his video! The actual story is great: apparently the guy who played drums on the record didn't show up for the filming. Tom didn't know what to do until George said he might know a drummer. Tom asked him to call this person and 30 minutes later Ringo walks in. Everyone said "Oh yeah, George Harrison knows a drummer!!" 🙂

"Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." (James 1:12)
Exactly! We have to stand in this evil day, and having done all to stand, stand on the solid rock- Christ Jesus. Our victory is assured in his mighty name. Praise God for the blood of Jesus that washes the vilest sinner clean.
This song helped me get through some challenging times in life. It’s one of Tom Petty’s best songs in my opinion. I love that some of the Traveling Wilburys are included in this song (Jeff, George, and Ringo).
3 of the Traveling Wilburys now gone. I can only imagine he's now jamming with George Harrison and Roy Orbison again with a big proud grin. I just wish he could have been around a little bit longer so I could personally thank him for this song as it has helped me through hard times. Thank you Thomas "Tom" Earl Petty. R.I.P. I was born in the 60s, raised through the 70s, partied through the 80s, recovered through the 90s. Now a reflect on Tom Petty’s influence on my life as I cruise through 2000s.

My uncle John fought cancer so hard and never backed down, even on his last days. I think about you almost every day Uncle Johnny.
Even though we’re in a rough patch right now, hearing 90,000 people yelling “I Won’t Back Down” in the Swamp will never get old. RIP Tom Petty.
I wish I had a legitimate team to help keep me up. But they all ran off. 100% of 'em. It's been disconcerting and sorrowful, but at least I know what it means to suffer and endure in silence and solitude.

Don't forget Jeff Lynne as well!
Tom Petty was never underated that's why George Harrison asked him to become a Willbury.
Three future Traveling Willburys already. Sorry Ringo, you're not a star. Pardon the pun
He was never underrated. Everybody of any musical taste knows he’s awesome.
Underrated? Your comment was going so well until you made that bizarre utterance!

zzleepäir ^ ^
This is not a Heartbreakers song. It's from Full Moon Fever, which is his first solo album. Petty co-wrote it with Jeff Lynne. Lynne plays on the song as does George Harrison. Also, Brian May is not in this video, that is Mike Campbell, who had a similar hairstyle (but plays a Gretsch 6186 Clipper on this song and is mock playing Harrison's Stratocaster in the video). Ringo Starr only appears in the video as Phil Jones was the drummer for the album.
thank you
What a collaboration! Some of my favorite artist all together. And Mike is amazing as always!

Jesse Jinkins -- Johnny Cash cover was for American III: Solitary Man which was released in 2000. That's 11 years after it appeared on Petty's solo album, Full Moon Fever.
I'm sure Tom would be honored by your comment.
A song written all generations. Petty had a gift to see things others didn't and make a song a song about it. This is the most amazing song as it doesn't involve love, a car, a girl, ...
It is a song about life and how to live it.
