The complete third series is available after its release on 7 February 2011, the complete fourth series has been released for availability on 6 June 2011, but the complete fifth series (next in line) is of yet unknown for availability.
Lyrics:
It's not much of a life when you're just a pretty face
Just to be whoever you are is no disgrace
Don't be scared if you don't fit in
Look who's in the reject bin!
It's the Raggy Dolls
Raggy Dolls
Dolls like you and me
Raggy Dolls
Raggy Dolls
Made imperfectly
So if you got a bump on your nose or a lump on your toes
Do not despair
Be like the Raggy Dolls, and say "I just don't care!"
Cause Raggy Dolls
Raggy Dolls
Are happy just to be
Raggy Dolls
Raggy Dolls
Dolls like you and me! - Розваги
Rip Neil Innes 😢
I used to love the Raggy Dolls intro as it really resonated with me. I was bullied at school, never felt I fitted in, didn't have any friends and had a bad squint, so I felt the song was giving me advice and reassuring me that it was ok not to fit in.
Always made me feel worse, like it was teasing me with the idea I might be accepted yet never was. To this day I still can't stand listening to this song without it bringing it all up.
Count me in
I know that feeling, even now, this song brings back a tear or so, remembering the bullies at school...never fails to motivate you to keep going, no matter what!
It’s not much of a life if you’re just a pretty face, just to be whoever you are is no disgrace, don’t be scared if you don’t fit in is such a good message to send to children.
Shame they’re forced to think otherwise nowadays
The message! We need a show like this today.
There's far too much 'acceptance' today IMHO.
My friend : "okay, here's the aux cord but you better not play trash"
Me : *this song*
For real though, that deep chunky bass line is wicked.
There was an episode of this where a farmer fell down a hole and his dog found him. The animation freaked me out because his mouth opened so wide when he shouted help lol
my favourite ,loved it use to run home off school bus to watch this at 4.00 .
pamela same here wow I loved this so much
Thank you Neil Innes for a delightful memory :)
So long Mr Innes, thanks for all the laughs. You will be missed.
Wonderful to think kids had the chance to listen to wonderful songs such as this & also enjoy such simple innocent programmes.. I know my kids (now in their 30's ) enjoyed them Raggydolls, Postman Pat , Thomas the Tank Engine , Shoe People to name just a few.... Peggy Wood
Oh my god, what a nostalgia! I have goosebumbs, nostalgia, I'm smiling so my face hurts and there are tears of joy. Oh my goodness! Thanks alot!
They actually made these dolls as toys available to the public so I am going to get them from Ebay.
Very catchy!
Did anyone notice Princess on the back conveyor before she fully appears.
Wow, I never noticed that! Well spotted :-) :-) :-)
Nostalgic right now. I was so young back then. 💜💛👄👣💕
Great memories, thanks for uploading! Though I CANNOT BELIEVE that opening shot lasted a whole 13 seconds! If they'd just cut it down to 7 seconds, the Raggy Dolls would make their friendly appearance exactly when the "Raggy Dolls" chorus kicked in, which would fit the music better :-)
Rest in peace Neil 💔
This makes me really old .
Wow. Kids TV used to be so wholesome ❤️
Exceptional.
I watched this show when I was little. Oh man, This song's so good. I still love it today. Now that I think about it, I can resonate with the dolls for reasons. I like weird things but I don't mind. Childhood nostalgia sort of makes me happy ^^. If there was a weird crossover it would be Mario/Danganronpa/Raggy dolls.
I’m 8 and I’m watching this!
RIP Neil Innes
Neil Innes... RIP
My brother still gets called sad sack from my dad
love that mid 1980s style drum sequence linn drum??
Does sound like it, yeah :)
I noticed the music in the theme song sounds like "Scales and Arpeggios" from Disney's The Aristocats.
The hook of the whole tune is look who's in the reject bin!.its like lennon/mccartneyesqe stunning.
That would be Neil Innes (the guy who sang the track and narrates.. I believe.. He was in a 60's band called The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band.. very good band if a bit weird at times. In the 70's he made a Beatles parody band and film called The Rutles.. Paul hated it, George asked to appear in the film.
@@MrBobLucas Gosh, I always thought there was a Beatles sound to this tune, _especially_ the studio version, with those 'Strawberry Fields' strings. Nice to have it confirmed!
*SO* glad I remembered the name!
This song taught me to bully and have prejudice against those with pretty faces.
Banger.
❤❤❤
what a great classic love it
Trumpton for life
One question, what was the French one doing there?
Think about it....
#VOTELEAVE
My understanding is that the French doll missed his flight, which is why even if he is a normal doll he still ended up in the reject bin.
I always assumed the factory fitted the wrong voicebox
From Wikipedia it says that he fell out of a box that was being shipped to France.....so in short he's perfect just in the wrong country
I thought The Raggy Dolls aired in the 2000s.
It was from the 1980s.
Christopher Drennan yep
Probably got reran in the 2000s when you saw it, so you thought it came out then? Easy to do.
Aaa
So Sadsack...what was that all about?
Took me back sang to the lyrics
My aunty Betty is in the reject bin
Creepy
