"Yeah, we'd like you to touch down over there & then roll to a stop right in front of the camera, OK?" . . . Job done or what!
Thank you for posting.
Oh the sound of those merlins. sends shivers running up my back. and always puts a smile on my face...
I can definitely tell you they aren’t merlins as that aircraft towing that is a halifax bomber which used hercules engines
I'm kinda thinking that Halifax is indeed rigged with Merlin engines.
I couldn't find a defining angle in this grainy footage, but the cowling shapes do seem more Merlin than Hercules.
I'm prepared to be wrong.
Halifaxes were fitted with both Hercules and Merlins depending on the Mk. Hard to tell as it's blurred but it looks more like Merlins on these aircraft.
That’s an ungainly looking piece of kit.
just a pity the back ground sound of the plane masks the noise or lack of noise of the glider landing cracking film many thanks
As was said, it's disappointing the landing had the aeroplane's engine noise in the background.
And then they made it even larger, put four engines on it, and named it Beverly, right?
Different wings, fuselage, landing gear and tail.
Is that the d-day one?
Potentially however if they were there learnt many used the main gliders used were the horsa and the Waco
