DREAMY Base with Layered Puddles + Fingers Swipes / Abstract Acrylic Pouring Art Tutorial

- Today I am using two colors that will be blown into each other for a base color and will then be puddling blues on top that look a bit like the evil eye! But trust me, this is a free-flowing fluid art design that will have you hooked especially when you add in the finger swipes to connect the puddles within the piece we are creating.

▶ Technique: Dutch Pour & Finger Swipes
▶ Canvas size: 20x24 inch
▶ Pouring Medium formula: My paints are mixed with Owatrol (Floetrol) with a ratio of paint to pouring medium of 1:3. I also add 1 part water into this to allow free-flow movement so its 1:1:3 Paint:Water:Pouring Medium.
▶ Color Palette:
Amsterdam: Lamp Black, Titanium White, Prussian Blue, Brilliant Blue, Green Turquoise,
Liquitex: Ultramarine blue, Cerulean Blue
Pebeo: Phthalocyanine blue, Iridescent Blue Black
▶ Hair dryer: Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting

The marble effect with the colors is magnificent, I always used the end of my paint brush to pull colors but the finger swipe is just as beautiful. You always make beautiful pieces ALWAYS! Bravo Mark!!! It's absolutely stunning. I love finger swipes and the blues are like fresh cold water. In the right upper corner there is the image of a dog in a distorting mirror. Can you see it, too?

I might be prejudice because I love blacks and blues so I love this piece. I'm working on coasters now with black and blues but added red tone because I thought it would be too dark. When I look at your creation, it's really beautiful just with two colors! Also, really nice effects with the finger swipes!

This turned out quite nice Mark. I would have liked to see more of the negative space though. Looks like the little bit of green didnt show up either. Oh well. But the blues are beatiful. Those finger swipes seem to add a dimention that brings the piece to life. Well done. Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm a big fan of the blues as well. I loved the idea of not mixing the blue & white just a little for the base. I've the Base just as it was. But all of it turned out Beautiful!!! Happy Thanksgiving Mark.

Love Blue,and all your work. Ive actually been looking for a video you did embellishing of a skyline of a city, mixed media of a picture and you did a flow on it. What is your rule of thumb in calculating how much paint is needed for a canvas?
I don’t 🤩 I make batches up and just eye ball it but if you do want to calculate how much paint you need Olga Soby has a calculator on her site 👍🏻
