You know, one thing I have to say about Stanley... he didn't really deserve the treatment he got. Sure, his attitude was bad. But the accidents? It's not his fault he wasn't gauged properly, that's on the MSR's director for not having him regauged.
But Stanley wasn't wrong when he said he was jack of getting blamed for incidents because he wasn't regauged properly after World War 2 and nor was Smudger. By the way I thought I saw a scene where the latter train was at the mine Stanley operated
The story alludes that it was the backlog of water not being pumped out of the mines the water drowned the miners there spirits gave Stanley the Karma deserved when the mine closed permanently
