looks good! personally, i would move the rhubarb now while it's still small, because it doesn't need to be in the fruit cage taking up precious space there. they will eventually grow pretty massive and be pressing up against the netting.
Hi Kitty 👋 Thank You, I think you're right, I think I will move them next week 👍 they will take up too much space like you say. Have a fabulous weekend ☺️
Great choice of fruit. I cannot wait to be harvesting. I’ve just bought some sweetheart strawberries and they’re huge too. So excited for them! Love Vince giving the camera the side eye, especially when he wanted you to quit filming so he could start knocking the post again. 🤣
I'm hoping for a great harvest of strawberries this year 🙏 ooohhhh sweetheart strawberries love the name ❤️ Hee hee Vince is just so happy to be on camera...such a showman.....not ha ha! 😄
Gem, OMG, it’s starting to look so good down there. Maybe we can pop down and give you and hand when we are next over if you need a hand with anything x
The fruit cage is going to look great in the summer. You can force the rhubarb. I would force one of them if its not been moved in the last year. Just cover with a pot. I would leave the outside rhubarb but move the one in the fruit cage as it does take up a lot of room
Hi! I would move the rhubarb out of the fruit cage as they grow enormous! My plot neighbour has some and they are like Jurassic Park plants! They grow back every year without protection! Your layout inside the fruit cage looks good! 😄👍💕🌸
I might consider moving the rhubarb as the fruit cage is awesome, undercover, real estate. Rhubarb is pretty forgiving about being moved as long as you plant at the right depth, making sure not to bury the crown. I'm considering gooseberries or honwyberries.
I think you are right, I definitely need to make the most of the space in the fruit cage, Thank You! Ohhhhh I really want to try Honeyberries too, I may add to the cage ☺️
😂 an easy Vince fix 💪. I think the metal will work great just make sure to protect the tops from ripping the mesh. That’s how they do the raspberries here on the huge farms. Move before they root too much. Great job Gem and Vince, have a fabulous weekend, Ali 🥶🇨🇦
Good shout on the mesh ripping Ali, will maybe cover the tops with something next time I'm down there 👍 will also move the rhubarb, have a fab weekend Ali xxx
Exciting times ! Stepping into your own fruit cage feels like The Garden of Eden. Great choice of fruit. Will be lovely to have sweet red currants in late autumn. Your tunnel veg look very tasty!
I bet that farmyard manure is going to help you get a bumper crop of Strawberries. I'm so please it's this time of year again where we can all crack on :)
You need to harvest those broccoli Gem there going to seed and will flower .More will come ,you don't get big heads from purple sprouting .Rhubarb grows huge so you'll have to move the one in the fruit cage to have access to your strawberries 🙂
Hi Susie 👋 oh wow really I didn't know that about the brocoli, I will go down later and harvest 👍 I will also move the rhubarb next week 👍 Have a great weekend 😀
Well done Vince and Gemma….great work! 😁💪🏼💚 I would definitely move the rhubarb out of your fruit cage Gem…..it’s gonna get on your nerves being in the way all the time! Put it near the other one outside! 😉💚
In the past I've had happy rhubarb that thrived & got huge quickly, & I had struggling rhubarb that went to seed & then fizzled out. I would leave any happy ones where they are as long as that doesn't interfere with any other plans for the space that you'd deem more important. Right now we have insanely warm sunny weather for this time of year in Michigan, so yesterday & today I've been outside prepping the garden.
Thats amazing you are getting sunny weather, we are still having lots of rain here and it's still cold. Thank You for the advice on the Rhubarb 👍 have a fab weekend 😀
Jane, your blueberries require acid soil. A PH below 6. While the raspberries require a 6.5-7 PH. It is not a good idea for the two different types of plants to be in the same bed (cage).-Ray Delbury Sussex County NJ USA
Hi Ray 👋 I was thinking of putting the blueberries in containers and use ericaceous soil, will that be OK? Thank You for taking the time to give me the information 🙏 ☺️
I have watched and subscribed to your channel since your first video. Can I say you must be one of the best dressed gardeners I have seen on You Tube. I rake out my oldest pair of trainers, jeans and t’shirt I can find, if not my wife would certainly have something to say about it, if I were to dare enter the home without first taking off the trainers 😳😉😎
The rhubarb looks good Gem, but it is going to get a lot bigger in the future. May be good idea to relocate it whilst small. I'm not sure if right now is the best time, as its started to grow. Better done when dormant? Thanks for sharing.🐞🌻🌱
Hi Jane, it's the best it's looked since ai planted it so nit sure whether to let it grow this year then move when doormant, like you say.... Have a fab week 😀
Looks great Gem, the rhubarb is going to take a lot of room so either the strawberries need to move or the rhubarb. Rhubarb has never suffered any bugs or birds my me so would be safe outside I think. A great space to fill up though. 😊 All the best, Jane
Why have you only got 2 raspberries canes? I would say you need at least 6 to get a decent amount of fruit. Gooseberries and rhubarb don’t need to be in a cage. As birds don’t eat them in my experience.
It all looks so great Gemma!! The fruit cage is going to look amazing!!
Thank You Roisin 😊 hope you're having a great week 😊

Hey Gemma. Push update.
Fruit cage looks great, we don't grow fruit but wouldn't mind something similar for brassicas 😊
Enjoy your week 🤩
Rach 👩🏼🌾🌱
Thank You Rach 😊 have a fab week 😘 👩🌾
Hey there Gem. Nice save on the greenhouse structure. I really want a fruit cage for my garden. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together ❤😊

🐝 Thanks for the great video 🌻 When the rub grows large it will just be in the way. And it dont needs protection of the cage. Just go full fruit
Thank You for watching! I will move the Rhubarb next week I think, Thank You and have a fabulous weekend! 👌
It’s all looking good Gemma. I see Vince is wearing a Parachute Reg sweatshirt, my late brother was in 2 Para boy to man
Thank You Julie 😊 Yes Vince was in 3 Para many moons ago 'Utrinque Paratus' ☺️
Gem, OMG, it’s starting to look so good down there. Maybe we can pop down and give you and hand when we are next over if you need a hand with anything x
It would be great for you to see it! It looks completely different to the last time you did 😊 always looking for help Gem 😅😊😘 xx

I bet that farmyard manure is going to help you get a bumper crop of Strawberries. I'm so please it's this time of year again where we can all crack on :)
Hi Lawrence 👋 I hope I get a good crop of strawberries 🍓 🙏 Roll on spring!
You need to harvest those broccoli Gem there going to seed and will flower .More will come ,you don't get big heads from purple sprouting .Rhubarb grows huge so you'll have to move the one in the fruit cage to have access to your strawberries 🙂

So resourceful using bit for your projects, I can’t wait to see the fruit crops and the broccoli looks delicious 😋
Hopefuly you will get to try some soon 😋
Gemma, your Vince is as handy as a pocket on a shirt! You guys have come so far on the allotment. Kudos 👏
He certainly is 🥰
And Thank You!

I would move the rhubarb now if I was you. It will cover the strawberry boxes when the warmer weather gets here x
Hi Lilly 👋 I think you're right, I will move them next week and start a Rhubarb bed I think, Thank You for watching and have a fabulous weekend 😀
👍👍👍

Hi Derek 👋 Thank You for the compliment 😊 I do a lot of washing put it that way 😅 have a great week and Thank You for watching ☺️
Gemma I'd leave the Rubarb where it is my motto is if it's
Not broken don't fix it
Ned that was my first instinct, really not sure what to do!
The rhubarb looks good Gem, but it is going to get a lot bigger in the future. May be good idea to relocate it whilst small. I'm not sure if right now is the best time, as its started to grow. Better done when dormant? Thanks for sharing.🐞🌻🌱

I’d move the rhubarb into its own bed
Thank You ☺️ I think that will be my first job next week 👍 have a fabulous weekend 😀
Looks great Gem, the rhubarb is going to take a lot of room so either the strawberries need to move or the rhubarb. Rhubarb has never suffered any bugs or birds my me so would be safe outside I think.
A great space to fill up though. 😊
All the best, Jane
Hi Jane, you're definitely right, the rhubarb has to be moved, such a shame as its never looked so good! ☺️
@GemInTheGarden I'm sure it'll be fine as the other one is nearby. 😊 Its good time to move it.
@@GardenMyselfHappy Hopefuly it will be ok 👍 Thanks Jane ☺️
👍💚
Thank You for watching ☺️ have a fab weekend 😀

I have quite a bit of soft fruit in my garden so wanted a small selection of each in the fruit cage 👍 Thank You for the info and have a great week 😀
