I think the issue with ESPN lists are they never pick an actual side/theme properly. Instead of strictly going for potential or where players are currently at they do this weird mix of both. What usually ends up happening is they just lean on their bias for certain players and you get a list like this where certain things just don't make sense.
Scottie is an enigma, a chameleon, and or a glitch....He could easily be in the top 7....but the media just don't know what they're looking at, so they'll over look him for now, and just put him near the middle.

@@gavinsullivan9560Ant had a niggling knee injury the whole season that sapped both his athleticism and lift on his jumpshot, so yes, Ant gets a pass.
@@gavinsullivan9560 Ant numbers increased his sophomore year from his rookie year. While Scotties stayed the exact same so it's different. Plus Ant made the playoffs his 2nd year lol
big sports media continues to disrespect Jaden for some reason...even though a lot of smart people realize and have actually said that he is the best perimeter defender in the league. lebron even said that the guy who gives him the most trouble is Jaden. btw, he's a 40+% shooter from beyond the arc.
I would get it if they’re talking about rn but it’s about potential so yea ally those players should be over JJJ. I’m also surprised Victor isn’t number one by the way they was hyping him up lol. Talking about how he’s gonna be the goat n shii💀
Yea especially because for this list he’s old ash, being one of the few players on the list who is actually close to 25 he’s had way more experience than others to find his way to maximize potential. Yet every year it feels like we’re having the conversation of him being a great player but never being elite enough to get memphis over the hump by being the ultimate sidekick to Ja. He dominates defensively every night which is great but the other aspects of his game like rebounding & scoring are wayyyy to inconsistent to be that old in this list & have him that high.
You one of the few guys that truly appreciate sengun potential. Averaging 18-9-7 in a GREAT system defence under ime. All that defence talk is true but it was blown way out of proportion due to the war criminal coaching of Stephen Silas.
Sure, Scottie Barnes is playing out of his mind right now, but I would actually have him closer to top 5 because of the MVP potential. If this team puts the pieces together around him… he’s doing what he’s doing with Pascal Siakam as his main movement shooter 😅
As a Blazers fan, I just don't see how they choose Scoot over Shaedon. I still believe that Scoot will be a very good player, but I feel like Shaedon clearly has a much higher ceiling.
Yeah whether this is based off of right now or potential, i dont see how Shaedon isnt on here when he was leading the 2022 class in scoring so far this season. How the hell is Scoot even on this list, all we’ve seen is a few flashes before he got hurt 😭
Mekhi’s Top 25 Under 25 1. Luka 2. Ant 3. Zion 4. Vic 5. Ja 6. Hali 7. Scottie 8. Chet 9. Paolo 10. Cade 11. DG 12. Herro 13. JJJ 14. Melo 15. Maxey 16. Sengun 17. Cam Thomas 18. Duren 19. Franz 20. Mobley 21. Anfernee 22. Giddey 23. Jalen Green 24. JDub 25. Keegan
As a Rockets fan, I’ll speak on another player that I think highly of, on this list and that’s Jalen Duren. That man is a beast at ironically 19. The way I’ve seen him start the year and just the shape he is in is remarkable. He’s a walking double double for sure. Hopefully he keeps getting better cause he’s going to be an all star one day

I think Paolo should be way higher. Ask me to start a franchise. I’m taking him over Hali Cade Zion Garland Melo Jaren, all them. I think he has MVP potential
Definitely not taking him over Haliburton. Hali is leading the best offense in the NBA right now averaging 24 and 12 on 50/40/90 splits. I want someone that makes everyone around him better and it’s not unrealistic to believe Hali is the best passer in the NBA.
I just don't see how Scottie is at 15, he has the playmaking, rebounding, can score, and defends at an elite level. He's already an all around player at 22 and still raw. If he wasn't on the Raptors he'd be way higher. Every advanced stat shows Scottie lapping his draft class in almost every metric.
Hali is gonna be a future Steve Nash type mvp guy, a cp3 in his best seasons type of guy. No doubt he’s a top 5 mvp guy year after year and this is coming from a raptors fan
would love a video of you making like a 25-50 under 25 list of some other young guys who you like a lot. maybe players who don’t get a ton of playing time yet but if you’re really tapped in you’ll notice.
Thank you P for talking about disagreements. I’m so tired of this “you’re a casual” or “you’re too young” shit that is so popular right now in NBA talk. Can’t even talk to people about basketball anymore. It’s just *opinion* “I disagree so you’re a casual.”
I think the the list isn’t terrible 1-9 Chet should definitely be higher and maxey over jjj. Paolo as well probably. I’m high on Jaylen Williams. He has a high motor with high talent in my opinion so I can see him up there on the level of Scottie barns. Jaylen green on some other teams would have helped his development in my opinion but I mean it don’t work like that. But decent list
Cade Cunningham hype is way too overblown. Just because he was a number 1 overall pick. Thus far, scottie, Mobley, franz and giddey have all been better nba players than him. He is just wayyyy too high in this list
Josh Giddey can be great on another team but he needs an active team around him because hes great at reading cuts and working Out of bounds plays. Teams like the Bulls, Hawk, etc just arent gonna do that cuz they are somewhat “lazy” teams where as the Thunder have seemed to bought into their system. Giddey could be really good with a team like the Warriors, Pacers or Spurs wheres there movement and high IQ ball.
Potential for Barnes is higher than 15, he legit has the ability to be much higher. His defense and IQ are often overlooked, sometimes I think these lists give too much merit to offense and not enough on defense.
Scottie does was no player on this list can which should give him the highest potential, he's a great passer/playmaker, defender from 1 through 5, and has started to become a consistent scorer who can space the floor. If Scottie had the greenlight like Cade, he'd easily average 25+ ppg. This list rewards scoring but scottie's the most complete player here
I think all the thunder guys individually are ranked too high . I think everyone is smokin the thunder pack (which I think is totally warranted, they’re a damn great young team) but as individual prospects they’re taking team success and using that to rate these guys higher
To say Luka playstyle is Lebronish then ask if u can win that way is hilarious. Also he may play similar to Harden, difference is Luka's game has transitioned to the playoffs much better. Oh and BTW he's under 25. Great vid
Seriously Ik this is biased coming from a diehard pacers fan, if tyrese Haliburton can average 25+ and 12+ assists with his offensive capabilities I don’t think it is crazy to think he could reach MVP status. Look at what he’s doing now, it’s year 4 and he is leading the number 1 offense in the league with no true number two option.
I think what you have not done is factoring in potential to bust thats probably what espn has done to some capacity eg holmgren or scottie and for vic probably his potantial is so high that it outways the bust factor
I would love to pull J-Dub up but it’s tough with the players ahead of him so I think he’s pretty appropriate but I do agree I link his link with SGA more than Giddey, would love to see Giddey get a go somewhere else and see what the Thunder could get from him and some picks
Zach lavine as Jalen greens comp sounds about right if your talkn bout accuracy, but I could see him being a J.R Smith type guy at his peak. Just feels like he’ll be that end of shotclock grenade on a rlly good team, n shit, he’d b a good one at that
Only thing that bugs me about this list is that Chet is below Mobley. I know they’re right next to each other, but Chet’s offensive potential is so much higher than Mobley, though Mobley is definitely a better defender Chet could get to that level.
Keegan Murray at #24, 2nd to last, should be a crime. He broke the rookie 3-point record his first season. Who else on this list doing that? Luka was #2 if I remember correctly.
In my opinion not including the dilemmas and problems he has, but Ja, as I said in my opinion, should be for above Tyrese. I love Tyrese's game but I don't see him ever being a MVP as you said P. But I do see Ja in the future being at least in MVP talks just as Luka. I don't know if you'd see this but what do you think of Brandon Miller not being in the list. I feel like he has shown more than Scoot has. Whatcha think P? Btw I'm warriors fan so I'm not being biased towards any guy here
Here’s my take for the football guys out here…. There are 20 wide receivers from 10-20 in the rankings it kinda feels the same way from 8-15 for me on this list 12 guys fighting for 8 spots or so
Tbh, I think Jdub has a sort of Baby Paul George potential. I'm def biased, but he's very well rounded at the moment with a few things to iron out on (Obviously since he's in his sophomore season). I also say Paul George specifically since in his early years he wasn't much of 1st option to the pacers, but he continued to improve on different aspects over the seasons/offseasons until he became that 1st option. JDub is already targeting that 2nd Option along with Chet, I'm curious where he could end up potential wise just because we see some players be well-rounded, but they hit a certain touches wall that they kind of impose on themselves.
I really feel like Josh giddy should be a lot higher. I really do see multiple time all star in his future. I've been high on him since about halfway through his rookie year but man I love Josh giddy. I could see him being at 15, which isn't a big jump but I definitely think 18 is his absolute floor, and probably 14 is his high.
Zion should be top 5, if we go on potential. When he’s out there, Pels are top 5 in the West. Garland and JJJ should be under 12-15. I’d have Shaedon or the Thompsons over guys like Herro or Keegan.
Only take I think I thoroughly disagree with is walker kessler. On potential he has a potential to be a 10-15 ppg, 12-15rpg, 1spg, 3-4bpg that is someone who can be a multiple year DPOY in my opinion; but I understand what you mean with other people having much more offensive upside, I just value the bigs who stay healthy and are defensively consistent
There’s no way Jaden McDaniels isn’t on this list… or even in the honorable mentions… and Keegan Murray is? McDaniels is a 40% 3 point shooter and widely being acknowledged as arguably the best perimeter defender in the league.
i’m a pacers fan i’m trying to be unbiased i think haliburtion can be in mvp talks at some point in his career but i think he is a superstar right now but i don’t necessarily think to be a superstar you have to be in mvp talks like anthony davis he’s easily a superstar but he won’t be in mvp talks

This may be a hot take but I don’t see the ceiling of Haliburton being much higher than he is now, in my personal opinion I feel like he is already at his celling which is already good and he’s definitely a top 5 player on this list currently but when we start talking about future potential I don’t see him being in that spot he’s in, he too high for me when I see guys like you said who seem like they can have that MVP potential be below him
Maxey ceiling is 3 option and maybe, just maybe 2 option on a championship team. Ain’t no team gon win a chip is maxey is ur second best player dawg u tripping he should prolly be lower💀

i’m a pacers fan i’m trying to be unbiased i think haliburtion can be in mvp talks at some point in his career but i think he is a superstar right now but i don’t necessarily think to be a superstar you have to be in mvp talks like anthony davis he’s easily a superstar but he won’t be in mvp talks
My top 25 under 25 based off POTENTIAL🔥
1. Luka
2. Wembanyama
3. Ant
4. Chet
5. Ja
6. Haliburton

25. Poole 😳
Scottie 14th is wild, hes top 10 as a bulls fam and sharpe is over green and herro
Ngl u spittin Shadeon sharpe shouldve been on the list and he wouldve been HIGH for me
Shaedon Sharpe isn’t here and it’s based on potential?
To an extent I think we know the max of Walker
This may be a hot take but I don’t see the ceiling of Haliburton being much higher than he is now, in my personal opinion I feel like he is already at his celling which is already good and he’s definitely a top 5 player on this list currently but when we start talking about future potential I don’t see him being in that spot he’s in, he too high for me when I see guys like you said who seem like they can have that MVP potential be below him
I feel like off peoples projection before this year Scoot is craxy low
P, you and my boy are both Podcast P that’s fire 🔥
how is lamelo top 10 but maxey is not 🤣 list is straight BS outside luka as 1 and ant at 2
Better audio bro thank you watched all the way to the end
My dawg! Yo I feel like maxey should be higher he’s in same tier as haliburton. Zion should be higher as well
Maxey shouldn’t be that high his potential ain’t better than Chet Mobley and paolo
Zion should be lower… he doesn’t play
Maxey ceiling is 3 option and maybe, just maybe 2 option on a championship team. Ain’t no team gon win a chip is maxey is ur second best player dawg u tripping he should prolly be lower💀
Giddy has to be trade to rly be released to his highest potential. Shai and j dub need the ball.
Put Giddey on Toronto with Scottie that shit gonna be MAGICAL
Im taking Chet over Zion Cade and Zion. Even if he ain’t at their level offensively he’s 1000x better defensively
I love the opening message so much. W P
So where you got Cade cuz it sounds like you got him in the teens
i know the injuries might lower his value but strictly off potential zion has to be top 3 maybe top 2. only wemby n maybe luka or ant got ceiling thats close to zions
Warriors fan: I’d pick Sengun over Jalen to build my team around. Also I’m putting Mobley, Chet, Paolo, and Scottie above lamelo and JJJ
Haha I said this right before I heard P say comment if you’re unbiased haha
Anfernee Simons continues to be underrated
Dev vassell need to be here
So is this list saying maxey better than herro💀
id take maxey over herro every time
Most definitely is
