Should of been world champion. I'm one of many that thought he got robbed against Larry Holmes. He out jabbed and outboxed Holmes in his prime

I thought Williams pulled this fight out but it was really close. Good heavyweights Witherspoon and Williams, they both showed their skills here.

These guys are the typical 80's heavyweights. Both these guys showed flashes of being very good fighters, like a lot of 80's heavyweights they were both hot and cold. Both gave very good accounts of themselves against Larry Holmes. Williams, in terms of how you build a heavyweight he is the prototype. Long, stout arms, but not muscle bound like AJ and to a lesser extent Wladimir. Witherspoon, though not as rangy as Williams, still had a good set of tools and an underrated defense. Witherspoon had a good chin, he got bum rushed by Smith in their second fight. Spoon had not warmed up properly and mentally didn't appear to be there and Smith jumped on him.

Witherspoon more power punches but it was very close. Witherspoon seemed more motivated to land something heavy.

Man, it's frustrating watching Tim Witherspoon. If he threw punches to the body, he'd do so much better. He just head hunts all night long, barely throwing 2 body shots per round. He fell in love with his own right hand. Thanks for the upload!

Absolutely! He had devastating power, if and when he threw punches; but so many times I recall watching him and screaming at the screen for him to "PUNCH Damnit!!" He probably could have knocked out Carl Williams, as well as Tony Tubbs - when they fought - if he had just let his hands go.

Williams 115-113. He was in better shape, and used the jab to control the fight after 6. Tim was out of shape and very lethargic. In both their primes, however, I think Tim wins by 3rd or 4th round kayo, As Carl then wouldn't be able to take a punch. His chin was much better for this fight.

These guys would mop the floor with the heavyweights today. Except Fury. Guys back then were just so much more technically sound the the guys today. And much more determined. You didn't see alot of guys coming in to the ring looking fat and sloppy like you do now a days.

Easy win for Williams. He was really tight the first four, but once he got going, he dominated Witherspoon. It was one man beating up another, and them giving the decision to the one that was getting beaten up.
I had it 9-3, but could easily see 8-4, some rounds were close. But I can't see giving the decision to Witherspoon, there's no way he won 7 rounds.

Witherspoon is a 2time heavyweight champ who couldn't get a championship bout in the 90s because he was too dangerous. He lost 5 in a row at one point and still nobody considered him shot enough to put his name on their resume. What the heck are you talking about? You must be a casual boxing fan.
