I have read a lot about failed bearings on the hks supercharger unit, which could be an issue later on. How long have you had your kit installed? And is it a V2 or V3?
@@glenmiester I don't think HKS would make something that fails that easily.. Probably lack of maintenance. Any modified car can't be expected to be 100% reliable anyway.

For all the people asking this is basically a cross between a turbo and a twin screw supercharger, this HKS kit is a centrifugal SC which means it builds boost with the RPMs basically like a turbo but with instant power response. The HKS V3 SC kit starts off with around 6 psi at around 2500rpm and anything above 5000rpm it is 14 psi. You can use the pulley upgrade kit which will produce more boost if you want. I’m about to get it installed in the next couple of months and gonna push 260 - 280rwkw (350-375hp) at the wheels on stock internals.
I have this exact kit from ft86. I had graham tune the car took a little longer then I thought but that was on me giving him a different email address. I had no problems with the v3 up until I bent a connecting rod but I do drive the hell out of my car. So I'll be rebuilding soon and still using ft86 I spent a pretty good penny with them never let me down
Another great (and entertaining) video summary of a quality product. 👍 Good points made about the revisions in V3 and the separate oil cooling. I was leaning toward turbo charging but since I plan to track my car your point made about heat was well taken. Can you comment about Todd Gribble’s post regarding the need to chisel the block for clearance?
@@mrchone84 I've heard you can get a lot more power from the Jackson Racing with a smaller pulley. I've also heard Vortech uses the same rotex empeller but a different separate belt set up with your stock belt doing stock things and a bigger belt that powers the supercharger. Little less power but great videos and customer service. But they're spendy.
I'm still waiting on my UEL headers from HKS, I don't want to go and get other parts till I have my headers on with my tune to see how much of a difference in power and maybe sound it makes. I did a muffler delete as a temp sound improvement so maybe the headers rumble will come through a bit more with that.
@@freddyflirt15 Vortech is too expensive. Its between HKS and Jackson racing. Although I think Jackson is really solid kit. I'm leaning to the HKS v3 for the plug and play 93rom for the 2018brz. Yes and no. It’s possible to do but would probably cost exponentially more because of all the custom stuff you’d need to fit everything together. Plus it would be extremely complicated to fix if anything goes wrong.
