To add to the insanity of the script the retired hero that comes home to save the day, just happens to be one charming, vlogging modern day Samurai 😂. Epic story - thanks for being a part of it Ben!
I will never forget watching the game at home then going into town with my dad. Everyone was in the highest of spirits. One of the pubs (The Drunk Monk) had the pen on repeat for what seemed like an hour. One of the best days of my life,.
The mind games of that penalty sequence were just unbelievably amazing. You had Fozzy banging on the net to do anything to rattle Scott. The refs then had to tell Fozzy not to do that. Scott then jogs up as if he's taking a pen, and he's just fixing the ball to throw off Fozzy. Finally, the whistle blows for the penalty, and Fozzy just saves it. It couldn't have been a better sequence.
THIS NO GOOD SHOOTING!!!! THIS LITTLE BOY PARK SHOOTING THEY CANNOT SHOOT IN THE GOAL FROM THE 10 METRE SPOT! THEY EVEN MAKE PUNISHMENT IN THE BOX AND THESE BULLSHIT GUYS FAILED FOR WINNING THE GOAL FOR THE TEAM, THIS WHY I WILL ONLY WATCH MANCHESTER BLUES ENSALLAH! I can't watch this replay without pumping my fist into the air each time Foz get's it. Was watching live...amazing match and a good tale to tell when recounting this season fondly in the future.
@@RichO1701e If you really watch Ben when he came up you would know how stupid comment that was from playing with Wrexham at a really young age and then getting a call from the best coach ever and say yeah you have the talent to play with the best at 23/24 years old when keepers play in their prime at 30-32 years old. He just got a to big of a jump to young that really didn’t to good for his career but if he was just little older he would be talked about one of the best English keepers to play in the league
It truly happened exactly as a script writer would have written it. They couldn't have had a more high stakes last minute trajectory changing win if they'd tried. It's what they signed him for. It's what he signed up for. But I don't think any of them expected it to come down to him and his institution in such a spectacular manner. And it sounds like that moment made coming out of retirement worth it because inspite it being the lowest tier the emotional stakes were so incredibly high that it was a win that meant so much to so many.
Ben could still play competitive football in the championship having him is such an advantage for wrexham but also for his experience and leadership for the young players
It's not the biggest non league game. Relegation match Winner moves up Loser stays. Down 0-2 after 20 minutes and one man less (justified red card). 1-2 in the 70 minute, 2-2 in 82 and the 3-2 to win in the 88 minute, but there was a free kick in the last minute and landed on the crossbar. A wild ride.
Well done the team with the biggest squad, the biggest budget and a team full of football league players won the national league, can't wait for the humbling next season
Wait a minute, Wrexham said that the year earlier against my team Grimsby and we smashed you all over the place and we spent that year on players £27,000 , Wrexham spent 16 million So it's not really fair , your just doing what man city are doing .
I know us US folk call it soccer, but I played for 9 years, and 6 of them were in goal. Now, I'm drawn back into football - and I relish the memories of cleat marks in my back.
I dunno about the biggest Ben. I played in the 2015 play off game between Dilton Rovers & Team Frome 2, 7-6, last minute winner scored. This was definitely second though.
Biggest game in non league history how? How is it any different to any other national league title race? If anything I'd say it's worse because Wrexham are buying the title

It’s such a good fit him being there. Ben’s got to be one of the most likeable people in football. Second to Peter Crouch 😂
Crouch has started to annoy me recently but I don’t think it’s his fault I guess it’s the direction Chris Stark is pulling him in

The atmosphere during that game. Thousands of us. Absolutely brilliant coming from Wrexham. Fantastic penalty save btw.

That LEGENDARY save will forever be in the clubs history ... thanks for being that part of Wrexham history Fozzie

So happy to see Notts County get promoted too.. With a pretty exciting final as well..

He's the first person I've ever heard use the "You couldn't write that script any better" correctly. You cant leave out the last 2 words

the actual save deserves more screen time !
Mostly because he was off his line when the penalty was taken.
Hartlepool vs Torquay, playoff final 2yrs ago was miles better

And? Decisions are made on the spur of the moment in every game. If every tiny infringement was picked up on you'd have no flow to a game at all.
