- Mario is flipping you off in a new tweet from Nintendo of America's official Twitter account, according to the verified blue checkmark in front of their name. However, a brand new Twitter feature reveals that this Nintendo tweet isn't actually what it appears to be.
Elon Musk is the guy in charge at Twitter. One of the features of Twitter Blue is that you can pay for your own verified checkmark, resulting in Mario sticking up the middle finger on a seemingly official Nintendo account. It's chaos.

The fact that Mario still has his cute little grin while doing it is what makes it even better, like imagine some parent using pictures of Mario for their child's birthday party or whatever, and they use this one without paying attention.
I hope it ends up on a child's birthday cake. I hope that child knows, enjoys this meme for years to come, and their parents are none the wiser.
Honestly, I’m surprised it took this long for Twitter to finally collapse. With all the weird art and cancel culture you would think this would have started sooner. Also, props to Mario fro finally getting the courage to break his 30+ year family friendly streak.

The whole reason people are doing this is to prove a point of how ridiculous this whole thing is. People can no longer be who they say they are unless Twitter decides to give you an "official" badge. Also, Elon flat out laughed at this Mario situation but is pissed off about people impersonating him and Tesla. The mods care, Elon doesn't unless it's about him or any right wing shitholes. Mods have always done this, they've always cracked down on impersonators, even "parody" accounts. Elon is just having a hissy fit.
The point is to prove how one tweet could destroy a brand or a person. Investors are going to pull out, advertisers are going to pull out. Twitter is going to burn.

Honestly, it'd be so easy to fix this problem. If they want it to be possible to subscribe for a blue checkmark, just make it have a different shape or a slightly different color to make it easier to distinguish between a bought one and an earned one.

I don't think It's an edited render, but rather that this person likely downloaded Mario's model (from models resource for example), moved him to be on that pose or made an animation for him to be on that pose, and then rendered it with shadows applied. which is why it looks so official / HD.

This sort of thing happened with a fake multiversus twitter account. They were posting how they were looking at inappropriate art of Velma, and it seemed people in the comments thought this was official. This kind of stuff needs to be stopped. (Let’s not even get started on how Velma is canonically a minor and everyone is still weird about her. So seeing this from an official warner brothers account would be incredibly sus.)

The inkling girl did the same pose in the initial release Mario Kart 8. This implies that the gesture doesn’t have vulgar connotations in Japan, otherwise they wouldn’t have put it in at any point.
