    I have a UK 2021 Q5 Edition 1 and the carpet backing on the rear seats keeps peeling away. To say that Q5s retail for between £50 and £60k here, the quality is shocking. I had a 2009 Q5 and the materials and overall quality was far superior. Not impressed with the build of more recent Audi's!!

      I don't think any vehicles are built well these days. They're built to be thrown away like phones but cost as much as a house.

    This is a really great hack and thanks for sharing. I’ll be doing this to both my seats in my 05 A6 Quattro. I live in the south east of the US and previous owner just used 3M Velcro strips that doesn’t work.

      Mine are still on the seats after doing this and it definitely worked for me. Can't hurt to give it a try with the industrial strength velcro.

    I will give a try for Audi A3 , the heavy stick glue didn’t last a day

      It's been almost a year now and they still haven't fallen off. When you place the seat back into its position, just make sure if is properly seated at the bottom with those two clips so that it is resting on the wire at the bottom and properly clipped in before you stick the top part onto the velcro, then you won't have issues when you adjust the seat. If it isn't properly clipped in at the bottom, it will keep moving every time you recline the back rest. The clips at the bottom must be fully clipped in so that they are resting on the wire. That's the trick that keeps them from falling off.

    Thanks for this, I'm going to give it a go after regular double-sided tape didn't hold for more than a day.

      It works well. My searbacks are still in their place and haven't even moved. The car has been to the dealer and they moved the drivers seat several times with different people driving it and the seatbacks still stayed in their place. 😊

    Great job, it looks really good. Where did you get the black clips to hook the bottom of the cover? I am planning to do the same as you did but mine are broken.

      The black clips should already be attached to the seat back cover. My drivers side clips were missing but I found them under the seat and glued them back on using shoe repair glue and let them set for a few days before putting the setbacks backs on the car.

    I rewatched your video and now i'm going to glue those clips back on with gorilla glue

      The clips on one of the seats came off and I used shoe glue to glue them on. Still holding strong. Just sand paper the back of the clips where you apply the glue to create a good bond and they won't come off. 😉

      @@carfanfan Do you think Polyurethane Windshield glue would work good for the clips at the bottom instead of shoe glue? How about Polyurethane Windshield glue for the upper part instead of the velcro? I got a tube of that laying around, and both seat backs are off on my 2007 A4 2.0T.

    I did this but when I adjusted my seat it starts coming off

    • @carfanfan
      @carfanfan  4 місяці тому

      That's odd. Did you make sure the bottom of the cover was properly gripped in at the base? If not then it will jeep coming off. Mine has stayed in place even with the car parked in the sun on a 40 degree day. I've moved my seat a few times to do work inside the car and the cover hasn't come off.

      Thanks Steve. Yeah, this was a puzzle I pondered about since getting the car. I thought of velcro and while searching for velcro that was wide enough I stumbled across the heavy duty velcro and thought it's worth a go. I filmed this video 2 weeks ago, and it's still holding up so I'm very happy with the results 😊
