  • Will the NEW Fuji X-T50 be Worth the PRICE? In this video, we'll take a closer look at the new Fuji X-T50 and the new XF 16-50 f 2.8-4.8 LM WR to see if they are worth the price. If you're in the market for a new camera and lens, this review will help you decide if the X-T50 and the 16-50 are the right choice for you! I've been pretty excited to see this new camera. I love my X-T30 and I thought about replacing it many times with the X-T30ll because the video specs are much better. The new X-T50 exceeds the specs of that camera and now with IBIS, larger sensor and the new 5th generation processor the camera will be a big improvement over what I have now. Is the 16-50 a great next generation kit lens in keeping with the old 18-55 2.8-4? In this video we try to work that out for you.
Confirmed price for the X-T50 in USD is $1399 still overpriced by a lot in my book!

    Hi
I'm still using the good old X-T20 and I am very happy with it. The results are amazing and I was paying new sFr. 1.090.- for it (~ 1000 $) including 2 zoom lenses (OIS). I never would pay more than 1000 $ for a body with APS-C. ... 🇨🇭

Thank you for bringing up these alternatives. If I were in the market, I'd opt for X-T5 with 16-80mm f4, though - especially with the low bundle prices still around. But, actually, I'll stay with my X-Pro3 and my stable of prime lenses. For my very own use cases, of course.

I don't need extra megapixels. My X-T30 has more than enough. I use the drive dial a lot, so I'd be lost without it. I don't often change film sims. When I do, I'm happy to use the Q-menu. The price is high, especially when one compares the new camera with the X-T5. I wonder if Fuji is making a few mistakes with this one. As to the lens -- it looks underwhelming to me.

I just don't see the rationale for getting the x-t50 vs the x-t5. The additional features of the x-t5 make it seem like a bargain compared to the projected x-t50 price and feature set. The only thing you are giving up with the x-t5 is a bit of size and weight while gaining weather sealing (!) and a larger battery (!). When I want a smaller kit, the x-e3 and Sigma 18-50 are better fit for me. Too bad there is no x-e5 on the horizon.

    • @bittiapina
      @bittiapina 2 місяці тому

You'd be surprised how much that "a bit of size and weight" factors into it, especially if you're looking at a camera that you lug around for a whole day while traveling or doing street photography.

Think of this XT50 as an updated XE3 having 40mp and in camera stabilization. Focusing may also be faster. Light weight, small size, and high Mp is an unusual combination that to me, is worth the extra $$.

I've applied for a ticket for the consumer day at the X Summit in Sydney on the 18th so I'm hoping to go along and get a close look at the X-T50. I love my X-T30, the size and weight are great for my arthritic hands, and I was really excited about the X-T50 because I like a lot of the features but I'll think twice about it if the drive dial changes to film simulation. I've got used to using my drive dial and it would be more of a pain to access those functions through the Q menu than it would be to change film sims.

Price is very steep when considering the body is not weather sealed and only one card slot, both of which my XT3 has. Here in Gibraltar I can get the xt5 and 16-80 f4 lens for GBP1849. If Fuji are asking such a steep price for the xt50, I shudder to think what they may charge for a future xpro4.

That price is steep, definitely agree on that and they definitely made some weird choices while upgrading it, if you could call it that. I just got a little used X100T so that's going to be my travel/street photography camera, I'll still keep the X-T3 as my main camera and all my lenses, but down the line will probably upgrade to X-T5. The prices of the latest and greatest I just feel aren't worth it when the older models are still plenty enough for me to use for my photography.

Yes, I will be purchasing this camera with the new 16-50mm lens. I already have an XT3 and XE3, which are both fab, so why another camera? Answer: the 40mp, IBIS, and the latest processor, but most importantly...the 40mp for cropping! I also considered the stacked sensor XH2S. It has faster readout for BIF shooting, but the image quality would be the same as the XT3, so no, I will pass on the XH2S until the IQ is significantly improved via future models. Recently, I used the XE3 every day at the Florida Renaissance Fair, and appreciated the light weight and inconspicuous size. I will get ALL of that with the XT50! So, thanks Fuji for another winning camera!

We paid less for a new X-T5... the X-T50 will not sell to informed buyers if it is priced the same (or within 10%) of the X-T5
OIS not needed on a lens that ships as a kit lens as all new cameras will have IBIS.
The battery would not bother me, as I still shoot an X-T3 too, (and now also an X-100 VI)
We're not likely to buy an X-TXX camera. I did love my X-T10 that I recently sold (it was just gathering dust) , however if an X-T3 failed (unlikely as is still like brand new, even though it is 4 years old) we'd be looking at a replacement, and justifying whether we need another X-Tx camera or if the X-Txx will do.
At the current projected price, it would be just get another X-T5

    Nah.
We've entered the nutso zone thanks to the viral blitzkrieg over the X100V / VI. Fuji is simply playing musical chairs with features to keep the upgraders brand-loyal at this point. Besides, the beauty of the XT-series bodies and f2 lenses is their small size and ease of use - true grab-n-go stuff with solid image quality. The X-T series 2/3/4/5 are still smaller than a comparable DSLR and some MILCs too.
The X-T3 does video just fine, and 26mp is more than adequate for most enthusiasts who don't repetitively crop and/or print large. The price Fuji is asking for this XT-50 Frankenstein Jr. kit will plummet within a few months, if not sooner. $2k can buy some solid, lightly used or last-gen wonder gear, including a mildly used X-T5 for those clamoring for more, more, more but don't want to go broke in the process.
FYI...I own the X-E1 (bought it and the 18-55 when first introduced, still love em both), X-T3 and XT-30, X-T4, and a host of Fuji branded primes and zooms - it's my APS-C system (Nikon FF DSLR being the other). So I'm into Fuji - I like what they've done for the most part with the sensible diversity of their lineup, performance and manual controls, though it seems they've come undone somewhat after the change-ups starting with the XT-30ii and X-E4. Now we're into wondering if certain lenses are good enough for the 40mp sensor no one asked for (but Sony's R-series guys seem to thrive on).
    Let's keep photography FUN.
A buddy of mine introduced me to a new acrostic recently: "JOMO" - the "JOY of Missing Out".... let's just say no to the lunacy and shoot what was more than adequate a couple years ago and invest in making better exposures with that stuff.

Will the IBIS work well with the IBIS in the long lens, or will it just default to the lens IBIS only? I hope the auto focus is even better than the Xt-5 since it is newer. If the price of the camera comes in at around $1380 US I will consider it. Mainly because my X-T30 is long in the tooth for good video work. Price is still and obstacle.

I'm with Nikon FX and got myself as a second gear for everyday photography an x-s10 with the 18-55 plus a Fringer to use my Nikon lenses - which works perfectly. An upgrade to the rumoured x-t50 with the same battery (life) at a price tag higher than € 1.200,- does not make sense for me.

The lens, yes, I am interested, though the lack of an OIS and slower f-stop on the 50mm end are my two major gripes. That said, the weather sealing and internal zoom are the two major positives. I love my 18-55 and it is going nowhere, even if I do purchase the 16-50, at least for the foreseeable future. As for the X-T50, huge pass….the price point, the lack of weather sealing, the same battery, and 1 card slot, all pretty much kill any interest that I might have had in it. Truth be told, I am an X-TX and X-Pro fanboy and throw in the X-E lineup for good measure. The X-TXX lineup for whatever reason, never really intrigued me, I don't know why, perhaps I felt that I was not getting any real “bang for my bucks”. Now, Fuji… bring on the X-Pro 4, I am saving my pennies as we speak (I am getting the vibe that this is going to cost some serious mega-bucks).

agree that xt50 without wr,old battery and one sd card slot only is really stupid for the price they are asking, its like they are asking more for the 40MPX as we dont really know all about the camera,i was hopping for a price just a bit more than xs20 but muc lower than xt5...like that people would have a choice between xs20 that can do very well video and xt50 that has 40 MPx for photo..as for the dial i wouldnt mind but since the price is way to high ill pass(hopping for a promotion or something).

In my opinion the X-T50 (in case the rumors are true) is too close to the X-T5 price and not worth it. They should have added the OIS and a faster card slot to the X-T30II package and sell it for 1100. I'm lucky I got the X-T30II in beautiful silver for 899. I guess the price for the X-T30II is getting up pretty quick. All in all I hope the rumors are not true, especially with this high price tag.

I would skip the X-T50 and buy the X-T5. The cost of the two cameras is similar, so go with the X-T5. The X-T5 is not a Big camera, therefore I see no real advantage to the X-T50. Save your money and wait for the X-Pro 4 if you want something different than the X-T5. I have many Fujifilm cameras and I dearly love my X-T1. The X-T1 gets the job done for my casual photography needs.

I think Fuji really missed the boat on this one, they are spending too much time listening to tik tokers. The film sim dial is a gimmick. Fear not Fuji, you won’t build enough to meet demand from the influenced. Oh yeah, this cameras price is insane. I would take the xs20 over this loser any day and yes I know there’s a megapixel difference but 26mp is more than enough for 90% of the users. My aged xpro3 produces great large prints with its 26mp. Or just go buy a Sony a6700, good color science, lots of lens options and it’s actually in stock. You’ll end up with a camera that’s also light years ahead of Fuji’s AF.
