It’s only breaks when you drop it by accident

The drop seems more scary when you’ve just bought a mini with your hard earned money
😂😂😂😂😂right
wow facts man
It is
I actually dropped mine when I was trying to unbox it cuz the box is so easy to unbox that the bottom part of the box slipped below my desk and the phone got out of the box.I was so nervous but nothing happened as the paper that was covering the phone was still attached to the phone 😮💨
It's on 69 likes DON'T CHANGE IT PLS
I'm not an apple fan... But that is impressive.
i'm not an apple fan but i don't care
I know you're not an apple fan because ipads, iPhones and the new macbook air don't come with a single fan
@@mohanish Errmmmm the MacBook Air we have to see but phones and tablets aren’t supposed to have fans LMAO

@@AnonYmous-qi9rb Good point.
Apple did a commendable job this year.
the only thing is the frames getting bumped or scratched but the glass looks good! if you have a case it will probably barely damage it.
the camera is a bit of a problem too but there you can cover the camera.
The only commendable job is with durability. Tho it clearly still needs a case so not really even a solid argument.
Apple still did a terrible job in many areas, no USB C, No brick (lmao), 20w fast charging in 2020, no 120hz or even 90hz, giant notch, no touch ID, no option to skip the swipe up on face unlock, etc...
Lol a commendable job??
>60hz display
>No notch change
>Smaller battery than previous model
>No charger
*Yeah, great job Apple!* /sarcasm/
Needs better battery life!
Nokia 3310: "Finally a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary!"
Not really.. the nokia 3310 could be thrown against the wall at mach 10 and still be fine..
No not worthy
Nokia wins
Nokia 3310 is a legend and I still have it. It still works in 2020!

To those that say it still scratches easily, checkout Jerry’s scratch test to see how faint scratches come up at level 6, can barely see compared to the competition
I can see slight grooves at a level 6, getting deeper at a level 7. XD
I know, they have diamonds in their pocket or somthing lol

Yassss
It hurts my heart and sends chills up my spine when I see it being dropped
When we talk about drop and cracks it turn out to be all about luck.
“We see scratches at a level 6, with deeper groves at a level 7.”
JERRY QUOTE I REPEAT JERRY QUOTE
with a good (even if not great) case on it, the iPhone 12 should be incredibly tough in real life
That’s why I don’t use one. I’ve got apple care+ and I think this device is so beautiful and has this good drop resistance so I don’t want to put something on it. It’s just too beautiful. I get those iPhone 5 vibes, could never put a case on this generation.
@@tamo9659 not even a thin clear case for the frame?
@@teal_buttercup nope nothing for me

Glass a bit
The phone looks solid for most part barring the scratches in a few places. I would never ever try this not even in my dreams but great, and informative. Great job team cnet, great work.
The mini is the hardest iPhone 12 model to break simply due to its mass being much lighter, and is much more rigid due to its smaller size. Regardless, I’m impressed and I know my 12 Pro wouldn’t fare as well.
Do u thing is worths over 11 pro? I saw them both in a store and the 12 mini's selfie is more crisp than 11 pro's.
I learned one thing, I’m going to use case regularly 🤭
I have the Mous limitless 3 case for my 12 Mini. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with any of the MagSafe accessories so I picked up an Apple leather case with 2 MagSafe chargers today. This test encourages me that my mini will be pretty safe. Although not as well protected as with the Mous.
Thats is a good improvement from iPhone this year in the durability matter, good job. (Android user) 👌😉
I mean if you drop it that many times in a small period of time of course you’re going to crack it. The durability is awesome!
In a small period of times doesnt matter if he did it days apart it would also break. It has to do a lot with how it lands and ofcourse how hard.
@@dnh3005 I assume the time period has to do something with it, because you are putting it through repeated amounts of stress in a short time period.
@@michaelbush2322 🙄
@@michaelbush2322 no it doesn’t lol but I can see why you think that!
@@michaelbush2322 it definitely does but no where near as much you'd think
Really helpful since just got a bumper case that covered the sides and back only and was wondering if I had to worry about the front face! Thanks!
Thanks for doing this video
All the drop tests I see this phone does amazing, one thing I noticed though is that most of the time the surface they drop on is relatively flat and so any angle when falling would mean most of the time most of the impact hits the frame due to how flush the display is. Good design from Apple nice they realised raising the screen above the frame is dumb. But I was wondering how would it perform on a floor that isn't super flat, like a brick floor where there is a chance that the display hits before the frame. Would be interesting to see that kind of drop test as in real life often you could drop it on a floor that has stones on it or other things
dude's kicks are FRESH
lol I just finished saying to myself that I like his shoes
The screen holds up nicely but those deep scratches and dents seem to appear quicker and more dramatically than last gen. I agree with the reviewers. Get a case for the frame alone.
I have iPhone 12 Mini and is insane:I have it on the blue color but the red is too.Nice and iPhone 12 Mini doesn't breaks easy!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It’s the weight on the mini it’s way lighter than it’s brothers so a heavier phone =a harder impact
Cases that have the frame that go over the glass are amazing
They do hold up pretty well. I have a 12 pro max it slipped and hit concrete at work and was fine no cracks no scratches dings or anything
I always use a case and screen protection for good trade in value !
I’m crying every drop
The reason why the Mini doesn't crack as easily, is because there's less to absorb than the bigger 12's. That's why I'm wanting the Mini, it's the most durable flagship. I miss having a nice, light compact phone. My last favorite iPhone's were the 4 and 5, so this is the pudding in the cake for me! But since then, I've been using Android's which was nice at first, but then Google kinda screwed with the apps and made them buggy. Plus, I feel like privacy is a big issue with Android.
buy the 13 mini i think is the best option, i buy the 12 mini and for more 150/200€ you buy 13 mini with more battery, is the big problem in this phone but is vera good
yay! I’m getting the iPhone 12 mini and I drop my phone all of the time! Cannot wait to have a better durable phone. Currently I have the 11
how is it so far bro
They only break when you don’t want them/least expect it.
You could build a rig that uses a level to make this type of tests more controllable. Also do it inside to preclude the wind from affecting where the phone hits the ground.
Buying this phone next mont :). I'm so excited!
Wow amazing 🤩 just got mine
Damn that's impressive
Finally I got it 😊 mini 12
omg how is it 2 months later??
Amazing review! I am getting the same phone cuz of this video thanks!
Whats your recommendation should i get case for it??.please reply
I dropped my mini so many times this iPhone really is a trooper
Well done guys..
I have the protruding back cover for my iphone 12 mini on both side for the lens part and for the screen too,.even with the tempered glass on, at least 0.4mm is still there with the TG on...
So it did land face down while travelling in the Metro 🚇 on the concrete floor/marble and because of the case the aluminium frame scuffing did not happen and screen is safe too...
Amen to that 🙏🏻
Me watching the video on my cracked screen
"I definitely see a scratch there Chris!"
Even jerryrig had appreciated this glass
My BlackBerry DTEK has had far more drops over the years and still shows no signs of damage on the screen, back or the frame. Just waiting for the next BlackBerry to be available.
Notice at 3:19, the drop scene is different not face up 3 feet
Yes, I saw that on camera angle 3 the phone lands face down.
@@davidhoupt1179 yeah the drop impact was completely different. How did such blunder end up in final edit is beyond me.
So my iPhone 5s screen broke in about 2017/2018 and it only broke because the frame bent in a bit and I went to lift it out of my pocket and I guess where I grabbed it by the screen and back gave it just enough pressure to break it due to stress from frame. Don't know if that's possible to test and check real quickly. Just curious if it does it with the mini.
I suspect that a minimal case and a screen shield would be more than enough for most people. If you work at a construction site or work on power/phone lines for a living, a more robust case would be necessary.
The first thing I did after getting my Mini was apply a glass screen shield and a simple case for a total cost of about $25.
men, i see this comment is 8 months old, how is your phone? Did you drop it? Did it crack it? thx
That's cool and all but can it hold up against the bits of concrete sticking out of the ground at my school??
Brave job
can I buy the dropped mini fro $25 please let me know asap as I gotta leave for work in a couple hours
For Xmas I getting 12 mini I am so glad I make tjese
I’m sold. This is pretty much what I need a phone to survive. Please do a drop test with the apple cases.
Can it be that the cases with magsafe if they get dropped the back gets gcracked harder my 12 fell out my pocket back completely broken
"It repairs itself"
You should do some practical tests, like dropping when taking out of a pocket, while typing a message, dropping when getting up from seat etc. It never is in a flat position parallel to ground when accidents happen.
Conclusion: just use a fkn case. Unless you can afford to spend hundreds of dollars for a new screen every few months.
@@bjames8103 bro, this test is in ideal conditions, and the glass isnt actually touching anything, if its dropped on a corner, its done fore
Or don’t drop your phone...simple as that.I’ve never dropped one in 10 years of having iPhones.

I'm getting it today so I wanna know how it is!
I was seeing this video on my iPhone12mini!!!!
The weight thing that's actually a good idea for phone manufacturers kinda increase the weight at certain points so that it doesn't land flat .. not that it would land flat in accidental drops .

What happen whit the camera in this cases ?
Dropped my brand new 12 mini on the way to get a case ! Trucker lol
Love it thank you for the drop test of the iPhone 12 mini
Oops I'm seeing my smartphone scratches on iPhone screen😂😂😂
Hahah shame. Ceramic shield comes with scratches less evident than you’d find on latest galaxy at level 6 🤪, those don’t even recover from Jerry’s burn test. Check out Jerry’s videos. You have no idea, so uninformed and laughing at yourself is stupid thing ever
I’ve had my mini for like two weeks and I already have scratched it 😂😂
Your neighbor who don't know what's happening would probably think that you're crazy.
It's my favourite phone this year... I really really really want one...

I love my 11 pro max even tho its only 64gb and somehow the 12 mini really disapointed me I feel like its for 6 year olds but the normal 12 is really nice
@@trapr1993 there’s not going to be much a difference from the 11 to the 12
it is a pity that the internal damage cannot be checked. I have the tenth iPhone, and after the fall, one of the speakers stopped working
Note: Reviewer's sample doesn't crack😂✨
The lighter weight should help with drop resistance
Sure but can iphone 12 mini unlock lock screen with case on?
like over a year ago, i dropped my s9 plus while sitting on the toilet, but when i tried catching it, i ended up punching it to the floor lmao. still typing with a spiderweb screen 💀.
Good Job by apple and you guys prove it. Keep it up.. one day you will get the subscriber in millions like me. Have a nice day
Why they make it seem like im watching the news???
( back to you chris)😂 but good video tho aint gonna lie
Hey @CNet, drop # 2 3rd camera is a different drop definitely
mine broke even with case on from waste height, pretty mad rn because i was so confident it wouldnt brake, had it since november and now it broke ://
Van - You have a beautiful house!
If you watched the advertisement Apple showed the phone falling it went on the edges first so no matter how you try to get a flat drop it won’t land flat face burst it will always tilt to the corners that’s logic
Me watching this on my new 12 mini 👀👀👀👀👀👀
Facts
Got to admit apple didn't lie about it's glass durability this Time, good job apple. But I'ma keep my Z fold 2 until apple reveals something actually innovative. Even though my Z fold is way less durable.
How do you get the cosmetic scuffs out?
you don't
Is a MagSafe wallet gonna be enough protection that the backside wouldn’t be an issue?
Just put a case on it haha...
So question for those who know. I have NEVER had an iphone, because I'm an idiot and I drop my phone alot. I have been using xperia x compact for years now, dropped a billion times and its still good. Now its age is becoming a problem and I need a new phone. The new Xperia phones are all huge compared to this one, and I dont want a huge phone.. Would you say this 12 mini could be a good go? Or maybe some good advice as to what else ? Appreciate the help!
You guys should build a tube to do this drop test, this way the phone won’t flip before it hits the ground.
mine istantly broke after first time fell when i was coming back from school and i had to change it cuz it got broken on the notch where the face id sensor is located
Mini should of had an optional stainless option. But but it’s not a Pro model do you get aluminium only.
Uhhh... why is the 3rd (of 4) shot of the 2nd drop (3 feet back side) at 3:17 different than the other 3... lol. Shots 1, 2, and 4 bounce and turn 90°, but shot 3 bounces sporadically...
Have you guys tried one of our ancestor oldest and most useful invention : HAMMER.
Me watching this on the same exact phone hurts so much
Not getting a case for mine then 😁 thanks
What i am noticing is from all the Y/T drop tests is that they are not done on an uneven surface like a bunch of rocks
I wonder what they do with these test phones.
i am just getting a very good screen protector for my iphone 12 mini
What shoes are those? Someone plz let me know
wow mini is really tougher than normal 12 , i think its a matter weight balance make it more tight
Had my 12 mini for well over 2 years, haven’t cracked anything minus a screen protector
The metal scratching so easily is such a shame! I accidentally dropped mine whilst sitting and now it has a tiny nick on the steel side which just bugs me :(
being lighter, by physics, the impact force wud be smaller.
i dropped my 12 inch macbook few times, (it was less than 1kg in weight)
tho the casing really took the hit, the screen remains undamaged.. there’s sort of a rubber band between the screen and the casing, tht maybe absorbed the energy from the impact force
