The coal storage bins were likely for the boiler that made steam to operate the flour mill.

The spur and concrete piers were for a water tank. All train stations back in the day had water tanks for steam locomotives

What a fantastic video. That was so interesting. Love the stonework. Those birds were singing beautifully too. Glad you didn’t go down hole. Nice to see spring. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care

It's allways amazing finding history in the woods. Many many years gone by, and nature reclaims it. Just amazing thinking about all the people from the past and there work

That was really cool. So some fully grown trees are inside where tickets for the train was once sold. I'm thinking after the 2WW folks were getting more into their own personal transportation (cars, etc.) and the Maiden Creek Station just fell out of use. I went over and watched Kevin and his little dog looking around too.

The 1944 Topo Map (Reading 1:62,500) shows the spur RR going to a mine feature at the end of the spur. The 1937 Penn Pilot photo definitely shows a small quarry at the end of the spur. The mechanical equipment was probably for rock crushing/sizing and the bins were for the different size rock.

that must have been quite the industrial spot in the 19th century back behind the train station

I would think those bins would be stained black if it was coal.

Love watching your videos. Thanks for sharing. If I could make one suggestion, when you pan the camera, could you go a little slower? Sometimes I get a little motion sickness. I know you're trying to show everyone your POV, and I really do appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Hit up Amazing Pennsylvania, put on your hip waders, and get in that watery grave! Those low flying prop planes and bird sounds give me flashbacks to my youth in Berks County 💜

Looks like an old coal yard with a siding leading into it. @15:00, maybe an old cold storage arch, especially since there are jars down there?

Googling Maidencreek Train Station got me a photo of it from the Reading Eagle. I don't have a subscription, so I can't dig any deeper. That said, it shows a station on piers, that looks about like the old East Petersburg station that was moved to the Strasburg RR. You can see the spur line, and yes, it looks like those were coal storage bins, possibly to fuel the railroad. It may have just been a coaling station for locomotive tenders. You can clearly see a flour mill behind it, but maybe not in the location where you were. I can't be sure. I get so turned around watching you wander in the woods. It looks like all the other buildings behind it were also industrial. None of them look to be homes or barns. It also looks like there were three tracks through there at that time, plus the spur. I can't identify exactly what they are, but given the time period, possibly feed mill/potato shipping?

Nice video. I was imaging people in horse and carriages waiting for the train. Finding daffodils would mean a house was there. Wouldn't that be noisy when the train came
    through. Very interesting. ❤❤❤❤
