- The documentary "On the Trail of Reggae" was broadcast in 1979 by ZDF in Germany. Author is Wolfgang Kraesze. He was a famous radio presenter at SFB radio, better known as "Freddie Dreamer".

Greetings ! ich bin selbst bekennender rasta seit über 20 jahren und habe schon viele reggae dokus gesehen-aber diese ist wirklich am intensivsten,eindrücklichsten und originalsten von allen! wow ! habe nie etwas davon gesehen-danke dafür!

Vielen, vielen Dank für`s hochladen!!! Ich erinnere mich sehr gut an diese Doku und wir hatten es damals auf VHS aufgenommen. Nun hier auf YT - Vieles hat sich mittlerweile auf JA verändert, was natürlich normal ist aber die Musik ist wesentlich kommerzieller geworden, was natürlich schade ist.

die Übersetzung bzw deutsche Synchronisation ist ja mal voll abweichend von dem was da eigentlich gesagt wird
wenn man mal selbst übersetzt kommt da was ganz anderes bei raus

Ansich eine gute Doku nur zum "sehr gut" hat eindeutig gefehlt das der Reggae vom Jamaican SKA abstammt aber dazu hat sich ja in dem kleinem Filmchen nicht wirklich einer bekannt. Zumindest hörte man am Anfang der Doku den SKAeinfluss in der Musik noch ganz gut raus. Höre ich zB viel lieber als Reggae und falls Unbekannt dann sollte man echt mal reinhören. 👍😉

Raggae was great it pacified this crime ridden Island. With the death of Marley this positive movement was broken. And replaced by commercialized unpolitical shit and consciousness dropped crime rates surged. Cause Jamaicans lost their soul music which showed all human emotions crucial to feel as a healthy whole human being.
We westerners don't realize how mind sick we are we are weak alienated pseudo individuals dependent on constant stimulation and many on prescription drugs. We are a soulless mass and our materialistic culture is poisoning this good people destroying their values trying to turn them in the same soulless mass. I'am sad and excuse myself despite this excuse has no effect in reality. But in my excuse is something deeper once I was a strong real individual determine to tear down this system of humiliation, corruption, lies and injustice. I was a freak in my society like Rastas are in theirs. But I underestimated the desintegrating effect of the daily culture of asociality piece for piece it weakened me people of whom I thought they would be reliable friends betrayed me. So I excuse myself that I'am aren't able to really help to tear down this mess.
But I hope that some day a child will be born a revolutionary a messiah who will do the job and is also tearing down the fake spirituality, corrupted Religion and false spiritual beings/systems who impose as great saints when people as example die. I hope that the legit spiritual beings have mercy with my tormented, tortured soul and forgive my failures and transgressions.

Interessantes Zeitdokument, leider sehr oberflächlich und amateurhaft. Die Untertitel sind zum teil irreführend, an den falschen Stellen plaziert, oder unvollständig oder mangelhaft übersetzt, keine Einblendung der Namen bei den Interviews. Kein Wort zu Ska, Rocksteady, Dub, Soundsystems, Dancehall? Fehlanzeige, von Spurensuche keine Spur. Geschichte, Sklaverei, Kronkolonie, Unabhängigkeit von Großbritannien 1962, Emigration nach USA, Kanada und England - scheint in dieser Dokumentation keine Rolle zu spielen. Im Gegenteil, der TV-film ist voll von angedeuteten Halbwahrheiten, die es schwer machen das ganze Machwerk durchzustehen. Im einleitenden Text zur Doku stand, dass die Beatles in Kingston eine Platte aufgenommen hätten. Das stimmt einfach nicht. Leider. Das Äthiopische Weihnachtsfest heisst übrigens 'Genna' und nicht Nyahbingi wie es im Film erzählt wird. Im Film wird öfters über die Schwierigkeiten während der Dreharbeiten vor Ort berichtet, weil einige Rastafarians sich nur ungern filmen lassen wollten. Völlig verständlich angesichts der Fülle an Fehlinformationen, die im Filmtext vorkommen.
