I have a 2011 BMW X5 All I need to do is follow these steps For example unplug the ignition switch connect the t harness to the ignition switch and the remote starter module. Then turn the switch on till the red light turns green then switch off, take key out and press unlock that’s all ? I see you guys mention flashing the remote starter module to the firmware where do I do that ? Is that something I can do myself ?

Hi, sorry for the late reply, sheesh! But, to answer your question: this system is a remote start AND the bypass module. We call them "data starts" since they don't need the high current relays etc. like some older vehicles do. Universal remote starts typically require an added bypass module. OmegaLink is a product line of data starts and bypass modules. We also have a large selection of plug in t-harnesses for premium quality installation.

I have a factory alarm and remote start with tip key on my 2016 Ram 1500. Can I get this kit for my truck essentially bypassing the factory set up altogether so that I can add things like glass break detection and a much better dual stage shock sensor?
Sorry for the delay! If you still want to use your factory remote to control it, I would recommend the RS-170-B. It can be upgraded with anything you want. Also get the OL-HRN-RS-CH7 t-harness to make install A LOT easier. Or talk to a local retailer.

It may be a work around. It depends why the truck won't start. However, there is no plug in harness for a '98 Silverado. It's unfortunately too old. However, our standard systems can install just fine. Sorry for the delay in response!

The remote start module needs to be flashed before install to match your vehicle but the vehicle computer requires no changes. Many dealers and online retailers will do this for you. Just make sure you check with them first.
Be careful. If you're going to install yourself, make sure you get the system from a retailer who will flash it for you (they are not flashed from the factory since some need differing firmware based on the vehicle) and will give some technical support. Guys don’t ever add this junk to your car, it worked for couple of months but then it completely disabled my 2010 caravan and deleted my fobik code I need to reprogram the factory key because of installing the omegalink
First understand, this is not a installation video. Less than 20 mins is BS. It appears the hood pin switch has to be installed with this. These kits come with no real instructions nor do they explain anything on how to activate the module or what the light sequences mean. I wouldn't mind making a video for install but here is another problem.... As I have weekends off, so do they so tech support is week days only. I'm sure it's a great product but here I am this weekend without being able to use it because of what I had already mentioned. Even downloading the instructions from their website kind of blows. Tells you what everything is but that's it. Oh and since they didn't flash the unit before installation (very important as these units come without being flashed) then don't assume it is and install it to find out you have to hook it up to your computer first. (that cable is sold separately for 36 bucks). Just fyi...
I don't know what vehicle you have, but on my 2010 Challenger, which has no OEM hood switch, installing the aftermarket hood switch is not necessary for the remote start to work. Tested and verified this just about an hour ago. Hope this info helps.

It will not crank when its 65 degrees or colder and dark.
To be safe, you'll need to find out why it's not cranking when cold and fix the vehicle problems before installing a remote start.

2011 grand caravan also didnt need hood switch. It came with it just not needed. hardest part was getting ignition switch plug out.
