My favorite track off this perfect album. To me, it personifies sophistication. Favorite lyrics: "She serves the smooth retsina She keeps me safe and warm It's just the calm before the storm" ;)
Expensive and luxurious; It was the most expensive LP ever made to date in 1977 - worth every penny. I'm *guessing I Got The News. A lot of Danophiles ain't keen; I think it's jazzy and excellent. I bet you love it too. *Winner
I don't remember this, but DOPE!!!! from beginning to end, very rich in quality. The 70s were the best. I'm so happy you have taken this journey and brought us all along with you. I don't think we quite realized what we had in the 70s until it was way gone. We completely took it for granted and thought it was the norm when we were in it. Thanks Biz 🎉❤
Home at Last and Black Cow are my #1 and #1a Steely Dan songs of all time. On any given day, they flip positions....and I have a big group of Dan songs right on their heels.
Steely Dan and The Kinks are the only 2 bands I can say I find have no bad tunes. Every song has got some thing going on. Used to put Steely Dan on the reel to reel player and blast hrs of the shit uninterrupted . Great job Biz as usual
The bass player is Chuck Rainey. I'm pretty sure he played on this entire album and one or two other albums as well. If you haven't checked out the documentary about this album called "The Making of Aja" then you owe it to yourself to react to it or at least watch it on your own. It's great! Welcome back bro, I didn't see you around for a minute.
Asia is a masterpiece by Steely Dan! Thanks for the reaction
STEELY DAN
Audio Perfection
To this day I play Steely Dan to test stereo systems. Such incredible production! 🖖🏼
This is/was a very common practice.
Chuck Rainey on bass guitar. Perfection. Best I've ever heard.
Right in the pocket with Bernard Purdie. Such a great rhythm section.
My favorite track off this perfect album. To me, it personifies sophistication.

...."She keeps me safe and warm, it's just the calm before the storm".
An amazing jazzy rock blend with the story loosely based on Homer’s Odyssey!Legendary bass player on this track was Chuck Rainey.
I love your observation! Keep listening to Steely Dan! There is so much more!!!❤
One of my all time favorite groups ❤.
Steely Dan...Aja..about as good as it gets..thanks buddy
My favourite steely Dan song! Absolutely love it!

You hit the nail on the head - they are indeed "a Holy Shit" band!

Could listen to the Purdie Shuffle all day long...
purdie shuffle is brilliant.
Emblematic of their inventory .
As smooth a groove as there is this side of Heaven .
This in imho is the best track on the album👊
Bernard "Prettie" Purdie - Purdie Shuffle!
Bass - yes. That is flawless and ear-catching. Perfect bass playing in any genre.

Probably thinking of “don’t take me alive” from the album before this one “royal scam”. Might be my favorite Dan song
This is a banger!!
the best of the best played for Steely 👍🔥🎹🔥 ...and the singer was underrated 🎸
My pick off this album.
Mine too, and also one of my top 10 favorite Steely Dan songs.
Love me some STEELY DAN !!
Perfection!
Never heard that one but I’ll take any SD sing
😮

✨💖✨💖✨💖✨🎯🎯🎯🎯✨
Best song on the album.
Ha ha ha! You're hilarious w/Comments.
HOME AT LAST BUFFALO, NEW YORK. THANKS AMTRAK
The drums are so “buried” in the track, U can’t make out every Purdie sound Bernard delivers here. He’s sublime and driving at once!!
This is actually my favorite song on Aja
The Aja album is apex Steely Dan, but there's so much else. To my mind mostly earlier but others may go post Aja.
The Doors and Steely Dan, both in my top 10
Yes, expensive and luxurious. I'll add "seductive"
The title is incorrect. This is not don't take me alive. This is Home at last
Different albums too.
Not my favorite but, can't deny those instrumentals
Googling, a tricked out mic stand what's next a jetpack?
Bro....this isn't Don't take me alive😂
Captain Obvious called and said ya gotta check the Video Title 🧚♀️
Steely Dan always changes me for the better.
