I think at a certain point in this new series, someone close to Peter might eventually die. Because if that does happen this Peter's hero journey can finally begin, so it could be either: Harry Osborn - Because he is one who tell Peter the Great Power line, and I think he might end up sacrificing himself to either stop a villian or saving someone he cares about. If it's not him then maybe Harry might end up descending into madness by either losing Gwen or suffering a side effect from what made him into the Goblin and eventually becoming the villian he is destined to become. Uncle Ben - So yeah it pretty obvious, but I think maybe in later issues Ben would either find out Peter's true identity or Peter ends up telling Ben himself. And at a certain point Ben might end up getting killed by either saving an unknowns life (like Captain Stacy) or being murdered by the Kingpin to stop him from revealing any of Fisk's secrets. Either way if Ben does get killed off this might complete the cycle to starting Spider-Man's career as a hero and as a menace to Jameson whom I believe might blame him for Ben's death. Mary Jane - This is a maybe, but to be honest I hope this doesn't happen. Although it does give some ideas like what would happen if Peter ends up becoming a single dad.

Why do I hate that? Because they are married, you "can" keep your last name, but it's more common to keep one or the other. So if they wanted to make the world more natural, it woulda been Harry Stacy or (more likely) Gwen Osborn. It's small, I get that, but it's a subtle hint at the motive behind the writing, where the thing I "actually" distaste is what that motive is: just a kid mashing his toys together. Storytelling is so much more than that.
I agree we need something new and different. But I don't want that "something" to just feel like at it's heart is a shameless remix. Where the motive is "just" to remix rather than it being "a writers story, their world" that just happens to be new and fresh. The phrase of the day ladies and gentlemen is "forced difference". I'm enjoying the story, but at the same time. . . it just doesn't feel like. . . "genuine writing" for lack of a better way of putting it. Remix-rehashing is a bit. . . "shallow" as far as writing goes. It needs more depth. It needs to be less superficial beyond just "hey, remember that thing?! We did the thing, but with a twist." Ultimate universe but the second one, the green goblin but its good-guy harry, the line of great power but given by harry, uncle ben but friends JJ and is still alive. All the story beats just exist to deliver derivative twists and that's it. That's why it's shallow writing. They are good twists but they lack substance. It's more or less just somewhere between nostalgia-bait and shock-factor writing.
@@3xeplodng_3agle_studios That's still a symptom of the same issue. A kid with the end-goal of "just" mashing their toys together. The issue is a story is more than just mashing different story elements together in different ways.
@@Hadeks_Marow yeah I got that. I just didn't feel like editing the comment to include having her last name be changed or hyphenated. They did that in another universe already but at least they've only done it once outside of this hypothetical.
@@3xeplodng_3agle_studios It's more than just that though. As I said in my OP. It's everything about the writing. The naming thing is just an example byproduct of my problem. Even down to how calling it "The Ultimate Universe" is just shallow writing. Allow me to explain how I would have handled that topic to put it in perspective: The Ultimate Universe refers STRICTLY to Earth-1610. . . this comic does NOT take place in Earth-1610. This takes place in Earth-6160. These are 2 separate universes. A good writer who cares about their work would tell you they can't BOTH be The Ultimate Universe (even if one of them no longer exists). They wouldn't just try to be derivative for derivatives sake. They would allow their work to be it's own thing, even if it's branching off of something else. So what is the lore of Earth-6160? Mr Fantastic from Earth-1610 came to Earth-6160 and found that things were different. . . and he hated it, he ended up becoming this earths Dr Doom and chose to DEFY fate and took all the super hero origins of this world away. Then Tony Stark came and realized what happened and chose to DEFY this _new_ fate set by the now appointed "Maker"/Dr Doom. Are we sensing a theming pattern? Yes, it has it's own theme, separate from the ultimate universe. To give it depth, you embrace that aspect of it being it's own thing. So what I would do about referring to the universe? I would have called it simply "The Defiant Universe". Then you could have runs like "Defiant Spider-Man" and the like. It's a simple tagline that shows the writers are doing more than just playing a game of mix-and-match. Where they ARE making a universe rather than just remixing a universe into being. The problem however is they don't do this stuff because they ARE just doing a game of mix-and-match and we won't get any depth/originality/heart beyond just the mixing-and-matching. My problem is they are doing original twists. . . but original twists don't make for original writing if there is no depth beyond just that there _are_ twists.
I usually don't question Jonathan Hickman but, I'm not 100% sold on the idea of Harry Osborn being married to Gwen Stacy in this iteration. I've always seen LIz Allan as Harry Osborn's love interest as it's been that way since the classic comics and 1994 series. But I can only assume that if Harry Osborn still becomes an antagonist in this Ultimate iteration, then that's why it'll make sense (tragically speaking) why Hickman chose to put Harry and Gwen together.

Ok so I have a question to start: what happened to the ultimate venom symbiote? Didn’t the maker have it when he came to this dimension and started messing with it? And if he did what if Peter’s suit is the ultimate symbiote because if I remember correctly, the maker messed with it and made it “programmable” which I think would explain how the suit can shift based on Peter’s thoughts and also how Harry was able to establish a link to it. I could be totally wrong but I think it’d be a cool detail
I’d like to see more… But after both the first and second time in this where I am seeing the Harry Osborn I am wondering and thinking if he will end up becoming a villain in it… Feels almost inevitable to me- but that’s just me..
Can someone infom me, we're mj and Gwen around together in the old run of spiderman, or was mj only introduced after Gwen died? I always preferred Peter and Gwen than Peter and mj. Most Gwen stories have her as a scientist or reporter type, someone who would get Peter's science gobbledygook.

Ultimate universe but the second one, the green goblin but its good-guy harry, the line of great power but given by harry, uncle ben but friends JJ and is still alive. All the story beats just exist to deliver derivative twists and that's it. That's why it's shallow writing. They are good twists but they lack substance.
It's more or less just somewhere between nostalgia-bait and shock-factor writing.
Simplest response- they could've just put Liz Allen in place of Gwen Stacey and it would've been totally fine.
Allow me to explain how I would have handled that topic to put it in perspective:
The Ultimate Universe refers STRICTLY to Earth-1610. . . this comic does NOT take place in Earth-1610.
First
Harry and Peter is great heroes
He looks like Andrew Garfield with a beard lolol 😂
I usually don't question Jonathan Hickman but, I'm not 100% sold on the idea of Harry Osborn being married to Gwen Stacy in this iteration. I've always seen LIz Allan as Harry Osborn's love interest as it's been that way since the classic comics and 1994 series. But I can only assume that if Harry Osborn still becomes an antagonist in this Ultimate iteration, then that's why it'll make sense (tragically speaking) why Hickman chose to put Harry and Gwen together.
Why is this like my least favorite rendering style for MJs hair it looks like carnage fluid

I love this new issue of Ultimate Spider Man 2024 and I think it's new issue will come in May 28th due to Marvel's monthly release which is equivalent to 4 weeks which is equal to 28 days and I hope to see what Johnathan Hickman is cooking for us to read something so fresh and great modern day of Spider Man stories.
Yooo! I cant wait to see something like this adapted into a movie in the coming years! Love your commentary bro
Nah, I’m enjoying it and want more!
a comic book with a different approach but it still feels like a spiderman comic?? yeah this is the one.
Rip legend
Sooo Harry’s gunna turn over? He said the line. Biggest Spider-Man flag if I’ve ever seen one 😂
I’d like to see more… But after both the first and second time in this where I am seeing the Harry Osborn I am wondering and thinking if he will end up becoming a villain in it… Feels almost inevitable to me- but that’s just me..
Any chance of more radiant black? Or maybe some rogue sun?
so since Harry gave him the saying will he die?
Harry is giving me Norman vibes
I love this version so much I’m buying the books comic stores and not digitally
Can someone infom me, we're mj and Gwen around together in the old run of spiderman, or was mj only introduced after Gwen died?
I always preferred Peter and Gwen than Peter and mj. Most Gwen stories have her as a scientist or reporter type, someone who would get Peter's science gobbledygook.
Gwen and mj were around in the same run. I think there was also a double date in the mainline run but gwen was with peter and mj was with harry
Fans: “We’re tired of seeing Peter be a teen/young adult all the time”
New Ultimate Spiderman: “hold my beer”
Harry said the iconic line to Peter. Getting red flags from this. Stay safe, Harry.
I actually love this version of the ultimate Spider-Man! Maybe because they finally gave him a adult hood and not a reboot to teen routine like always
I love this comic i Iove the idea I love everything
I couldn't agree more with you - this is indeed one of the best Spidy books as of late, can't wait to see how it will all pan out.
I have enjoyed these videos and I look forward to them. It’s been a refreshing take on the character and it definitely interests me to see where the story goes.
