Finally I understand Naim! Great explanations, great questions! Many thanks for posting.
This was such a nice presentation! Watched both video’s. Very usefull!
I ended up going with Bryston for my amplification but I like the Naim sound and will definitely consider it down the road.
I’m lucky enough to work with Jason, his wealth of knowledge of Naim is outstanding and a huge assist.
its the best

I have purchased Naim from Nintronics good company
I started my Naim journey with a CD5, then a 112x/Stageline/150. Upgraded it with a Flatcap2. My next step was a 202, shortly followed by a 200. I use a TeddyPardo TeddyCap, which sounded better (IMHO) than a HiCap/NAPSC. Titan STYX mains cables and Kudos KS1 speaker cables have followed, my next upgrade, who knows? It will be costly whatever I decide. My sources are a Roon based NUC feeding a March DAC1 for digital, and a Pink Triangle turntable upgraded by Peter @ Cymbiosis.
After part 1 and part 2 and as naim owner now I understand the company better. Excellent for some music while for others not so. Not for classic music.
The 500 series does a good job with classical
@@robburgess1985 then, if someone likes classical, should start with 500 series...
Those focals are probably one of the best speakers ever made, just perfect. Although it seems most prefer a little softer gear behind them.
I 💕 💕 LOVE NAIM AUDIO so very much. I will be getting the naim atom headphone amp with focal radiance headphones and Aybss Diana V2 planar headphones.
Jason Gould is a great support for Naim
Thanks Terry great job
Very interesting. I have known Naim's name for over 30 years but never owned any. I like the stepwise upgrade path philosophy.
Naim-yes, Focal-yes. But together no thanks
I heard them both together and they sounded good. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder
What are all the Naim units, I have Arcam amp and CD player, plus Rotel power amp, how does one improve on that, just had some new Bw speakers .
FLAC is a lossless audio codec. FLAC compression is on the file side not the audio. It's like how ZIP or RAR work. What you put in you get out. It in no way affects the audio. WAV is an uncompressed file container that can contain lossless audio or lossy audio. Being uncompressed the file sizes are the largest they can be. WAV supports 16 bit 44.1khz and uses LPCM like CD. WAV is NOT what CDs use. They are formatted in CDA.
interesting post thanks I think the message is still correct. There is no point ripping music to FLAC any more and no benefit other than to compress the music files to get more from the storage. Maybe if you have huge huge libraries Personally I have always ripped and stored music in WAV format I could never see the benefit of flac but I dont own 10,000 CDS
@@PursuitPerfectSystem You're right Terry and Jason. It's only about storage space. All our cars use bit-perfect ripped FLAC from our home music library and then stored on SD Card. You can only get so many CDs on a 256GB SD Card and if you want a large choice, compression helps you squeeze more on. All the best, Rob
Great Focal Speakers
I have the Lumin T1 streamer/ dac and recently added the Naim Dac using a high quality Kubala Sosna coaxial cable and what a positive difference that made. Don’t get me wrong, the Lumin set up on its own was great 👍 but now has been surpassed by adding the Naim Dac.👍👍
Did u like it this one Terry?
Ripping in FLAC gives you metadata, whereas a WAV rip does not offer this. I disagree with the conclusion on CD ripping. I have to agree about the advantages of using an SSD drive.
I met Julian Vereker, he was a great engineer.
Mr. Jason was really good in his job and gives very good explanation to start it from.
Excellent THE BEST EQUIPMENT IN THE WORLD
I have 5i and Ikon 6 and struggling to add Naim chain.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Are the Naim components sitting on glass ? Glass is bad..............
Really Felix? I have glass :-( What do you recommend and why? All the best, Rob
I believe in Mapleshade’s theory 😊

Gene Rubin listen to this in California Ventura
Naim NDX-2 is a really good streamer try it
Great vlog......All those boxes and no CD or cassette 😂🙈
is a CD ripper but no cassette haha
The Naim TV screen is tiny 🤣😂
Seems like a lot of echo in that room (?)
Yep CD is officially dead :) Great interview by the way.
Just my opinion. Focal really should stop using Naim. Yes, they are the same company, and Naim is great. But, Focal requires a lot of power of which Naim doesn't have except the Statement.
Huh? You haven't a clue.
@@tannerhuber1603 this ^^^
Tanner Huber I love Naim for PRaT, but Naim just doesn’t do power. Focal loves power.
@@klaymoon1 The opposite is true. Very easy to drive Focal speakers.
@@rvsmairspace6742 Utopia range as featured on this video can drop below 2 ohm.
That Naim ambassador is talking bs. I really don't like Naim anymore. I've heard their top pre-amplifier/ streamer. It sounds like crap compared to any other decent brand. Naim used to be about sound quality but they now are slowly turning towards mainstream equipment only extremely overpriced. Btw those Focal's deserve better high end equipment
R
This all sounds horribly complicated.
if you are not used to Naim at first it is yes, it's a life time of upgrades in one hour though that is why :)
The Naim concept is that for each component (except the power amplifier), you have optional power supplies. That’s all there’s to know. Those components all have strange names.
Is the NAP 500 DR underpowered for the bigger focals? 140 watts doesn’t sound like a lot when they are going into a floorstander that can take 500 watts recommended. Is there a way you can have two NAP 500 DR on each side or is that amp quite a powerhouse?
I dislike the appearance of British hi-fi. They haven't evolved in the aesthetic department like the Americans have done. My ideal has been always the Japanese looks. I'm not judging the audio quality at all, only skin deep looks.
Naim look is hardly typical of British hi-fi. I don't like it either or how it sounds.
@@classicrock7890 Japanese hi-end and lately North American hi-fi, aesthetically speaking. The latter have done a huge leap in that department making beautiful electronics. Italian loudspeakers are bellissimo either.
