Cool, looks like fun 😊 I've a spud gun made of steel tube with a 4ft long barrel, 2" bore mounted on a base like a mortar. A chamber is filled with oxy- propane mix which sends the cut spud up to a half a mile.
There were several variations of spud guns. Mine is diecast but sounds like it operates similar to yours. A friends brother had one that worked like a 1911 about 55 years ago.

You don’t have a “spare” welder just cluttering up your shop waiting for somebody to pay to ship it out of your shop, do you? Looks like a fun little toy - I’m going to get one as soon as I have a welder to assemble it!

I had something similar when i was a kid. Had a spring loaded trigger return and it simply a hand air pressure chamber made of plastic. But it was fun
