Interesting interaction between birds. The mags joining in is also nice. At our place the gulls, oystercatchers and mags cooperate against the crows. Different location, different situation, but still different birds working together. Nice.

It took me a while to set up the camera. The mags made a lot of noise before I started the recording. What can be seen here was only their last contribution to the uproar.
In that area there are usually conflicts between magpies and crows. I was surprised that they united with the crow against the owl.
But I already knew, that birds are smart enough to adapt their behaviour to the current situation.
I often observe conflicts between kestrels and crows. But when a buzzard is getting too close, they cooperate to drive the intruder away.

See the crow try to distract the owl as much as possible to give the magpie a clean run at it? Very smart bird. Excellent filming too, great channel.

Unfortunately I was a bit late and didn't catch everything that was going on. I remember that the magpies were making noise before I started recording. Then they were quiet, maybe because the crow was doing an impressive job, I don't know. The owl didn't seem to pay much attention to the magpies, but as I said, I don't know what happened before.
Thank you for your kind words, enjoy!

I love that swearing vocalization crows do against aerial predators. I've heard them delivering huge great streams of it on to buzzards and sparrowhawks, lots of different pitches and inflections. They get sooo angry, especially when they have young. I dread to think what they're saying.. Terrible abuse 😮 🙂

I was lucky that it happened close enough for audio recording. Here the parent crow is seriously concerned and the vocalizations are not relaxed at all.
I like to watch the crows chasing each other for fun. Then their gargles sound laid back and friendly.
Outside the breeding season they don't have much reason to chase predators. I guess it is more like exercising or having fun in this case.

@@kestrelsandcrows6871 You've done well to curb the wind reverb on these vids, I've just started out filming a week ago with a tiny gopro style cam (Insta360 go 2,) and I've already outgrown it; many problems with wind/no zoom etc. good for beginning tho, my channel only been running for a week but today i got some really good Buzzard with Crows clips and 'the vocalizations are not relaxed at all' either! I think your vids gave me good luck!

@@Crow_Friend Now I regularly use a MKE 600, and I guess my camera also removes some of the wind noise.
But I find it very hard to record their gargle in air combat. It is a good thing to work on.
